Sheppard AFB (located in Wichita Falls) is not in the middle of Texas, it's actually on our northern border with Oklahoma. Oklahoma is maybe 30 minutes away by car whereas Austin (much closer to the actual middle of Texas) is about 7 hours away by car. Given that good flying weather was one of the driving factors in locating in Texas, I am surprised that Sheppard AFB was chosen over the other 3 major pilot training bases in Texas (Randolph AFB in San Antonio, Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, and Kingsville Naval Air Station in Kingsville TX). Sheppard AFB still gets snow/ice 4 or 5 times a year due to how far north it is. All 3 of the other bases are significantly further south so they have significantly more good flying weather days with none of them getting snow more than once or twice a year - and some years there's no snow at all.

We were living in Montana when we saw the fall of the wall on the news. And I just remember crying my eyes out, so happy for all the German people. We had previously lived in Germany for three years and just returned to the states earlier that year January 89. We also had the opportunity of going behind the wall visiting East Germany twice. It was heartbreaking. I’m sure it will be an adjustment but So happy that all the German people can be united again. We loved our time in Germany and living among the German people.
Is this different or the same as Fighter Lead-In school (which we went through at Holloman AFB, New Mexico)? I think that my Dad went to F86D school at Shepherd AFB in the 50s. I didn’t even realize that it was still operating.

There is a 1930's Pre Code movie that highlights anti German sentiment during WWI. The name is "Forever In My Heart". Loretta Young starred in it. A very good but sad film.
Good Ole Whichita Falls Texas. Flat as can be. Even with low altitude runs you can see miles ahead of you. Nights at DenimAndDiamonds kept me sane. Other than that there is not much to do there except watch Midwestern state university play D2 football.

Northrop T-38 Talons, sadly they’re being retired for the Boeing T-7 Red Hawk after 61 years of service with the USAF. A little history - the T-38 Talon is two-seat trainer version of the F-5 Freedom Fighter, which was a high-performance, low-cost export fighter for American allies. They’re powered by two General Electric J85 engines, and entered service in 1963 as the F-5A Freedom Fighter. From the E model onwards, the F-5 became the Tiger II; around 1981, Northrop introduced an upgraded version called the F-20 Tigershark, which was competitive with the F-16 Fighting Falcon, but the program was abandoned in 1986 after three prototypes were completed & flown.
We can only imagine what this woman has seen in her years. I’m very happy she’s doing well but everyone associated with the holocaust has a certain look in their eyes. Like they can never get their innocence back.
Just so we are clear: The only Germans who still support our so-called "alliance" with (i.e. vassalization by) the US are the corrupt transatlanticists who work for Washington (i.e. traitors) and useful idiots who still believe our US-controlled mainstream media. Here's a statistic for the people who think the lies of the transatlanticists are working: Two thirds of East Germans consider modern German undemocratic and wants the GDR back. It's only due to the US-directed anti-socialist disinformation in our education and media that people in Germany are opposed to socialism and vote for the AfD rather than support socialist revolution. The US empire is dying. China is rising. Capitalism is responsible for the climate catastrophe. A livable future is only possible under socialism. Socialism will win. The imperialists will lose. The world will be free from American tyranny soon. Even though the Americans are destroying our economy as we speak, the transatlantic alliance will be defeated. No matter how much the Americans destroy our country, a free and democratic Germany will rise from the ashes!
Outstanding Interviewer. Brilliant German Ambassador. A master of word craft. Both should have focused more on the massive illegal migration from Muslim and African countries that is threatening the future viability of the EU.
