Another great male voice! Although you said he was a deep baritone, I found his mid and higher belts more significant and remarkable. He could do more with his voice. Nice and warm timbre.
I'd say anything he did with Duke Ellington is his signature material. You can find a few of those songs here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EDAs1t8fxDY.html But also the likes of Sophisticated Lady of course. I might have to post some of this stuff on my second channel at some point.
Hi Kaji, not really relevant but I want to ask u whether this D5 from Lina - a good Kpop vocalist is really/actually good or just echo/reverb ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8DlgQZJYbqY.html Tysm
His E4-F4s are so good! I love his dark boomy sound. His voice is so warm, cozy at times, and full. Sometimes the music accompanying his voice doesnt quite match but it's a bop regardless haha! Thanks for the video Kaji 💗
He is so effortless up there, what a fascinating voice! I will always appreciate your effort to uplift these lesser known names, that's very valuable work.
@@Amazingvocalsandmedia Hormonal /Chromosomal aspects are some of the most common reasons why some people develop some characteristics of the oppositw gender. But you are right that it could be caused without any anomalies, just like there are some women who are 6'6 orr nen who are 5'4, without any anomalies.
@@armandosanchez4978 it’s not necessarily about developing characteristics of the opposite sex, it’s mostly about morphological changes or lack thereof. A great deal of men with unusually high voices simply never went through a typical puberty
love his head voice! which male vocalists dead or alive would you say have the best head voice and have any of them have reached the 6th octave with proper technique, like fully connected, supported and even resonant notes?!
@@KajiVocals i remember seeing a video of a korean male vocalist on facebook some years ago who sustained a perfect B5 but even that’s a rarity cause i can only think of dimash or avery wilson and i don’t think they carry great technique beyond the 5th octave in head voice. actually, i don’t even think i have heard avery go in the 6th octave, but dimash does a great job, or at least it aounds great to me. i wouldn’t know if he has like diaphragm engagement and all that while up there. im not so well versed in vocal pedagogy so unless it’s obviously resonant then ???? lol
@@notyourdaddy2148 To begin with, 6th octave in head voice is already very high for any male head voice, there's an obvious shift in whistle around those notes, so I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't many singers with good technique at all up there. I'm a high tenor, yet I'm struggling with connection (due to many reasons, now my problems has worsened over covid I've suffered in March this year, voice still hasn't recovered), but I was able to produce very good Bb5's and even B5's (few) in full connected head voice, even has records of those, unfortunately it's all lost now, only able to barely scratch airy G5 now with crack
It is primarily stuff from the Ravens which has a lot of phenomenal singers! I did a video on Ricks who was the main singer of the Ravens last year. Joe sadly didn't record many solo records.
A new singer unveiled! I didn't know Joe Van Loan. Thanks to the vocal range video you made about him, I can say he had a big vocal range ☺So, a high tenor with extensive and piercing head voice up to C6. He could have gone higher. Also, he got a smooth chest/mixed register.
@@tony_2024 I get what you meant. But a man can sing in a "controtenore" part using the upper register of his voice (usually falsetto) to reach contralto or soprano high notes. He's a high tenor in this case regarding to the voice classification. Even baritones can sing as countertenors.
His voice is pretty, bright, and kind of playful. It carries good emotion as well. Thank you for the video and bringing his voice to more people. I enjoyed this a lot! 🩷
I really enjoyed watching Judy Kuhn's vocal range video! She can do really well both with legit singing and belting as a skilful musical theatre singer. She could have gone higher than C6 in her younger years, but still strong head voice with those recent B5s!
Hi , great video, I know this is pretty unrelated but would you ever consider doing one of these videos for Idina Menzel , I know she's not the best of a technical singer , but I would still love to see a video on her
She is incredible. I can feel the brilliance of her powerful chest voice; her belts are smooth and fluid rather than impactful. Thank you for the video. I hope you can make one about Anthony Newley's vocal range someda.
no matter what category she was classified as a singer, sarah could hit a high "head note" down to a chesty alto tone as well. she's what we would call a "jazzy mariah carey" with a wide vocal range
Thank you so much for putting this together for us! I've loved her since Chess and saw her in She Loves Me. Truly a gift of a voice. Dying to know where the live perfs you had her 80s headshot as the photo. Great work on this video.
You’re very welcome!! The photo appears to be from She Loves Me as taken by Martha Swope. digitalcollections.nypl.org/items/b687b9c0-b6c0-0132-0ab7-58d385a7bbd0
Colors of the Wind was one of my favorite songs growing up so it was great to hear more from Judy in terms of voice, performance, and discography even in these small segments. She has a quite light pretty voice which I enjoy a lot. Thank you for the video! 💕
She was on my list but unfortunately many of the clips I had collected into my playlists have since been deleted. The same applies for Kim Burrell and Dionne Warwick.
Why are belted and mixed notes put in the same category in vocal range videos? Especially since mixed notes sound more like head voice than belts (dont know much about the terms but isnt it the same mechanism or coordination used for mix and head voice and not belting?)
