Deputy Commissioner of Public Works: I'm happy to hear the kids enjoyed the fruit of their labor in the summertime youth program. Our alley, 400 Webb is heavily populated with overgrown weeds and bushes, as tall as 7+ feet and bushy in width extending outward in a precarious unsafe manner when entering/existing garages. My concerns have been ignored by Alderman and Public Works. Several weeks ago, after several attempts to have the alley regraded was haphazardly done. As I pleaded several weeks ago with the deep caverns in the alley, not addressed. Those deep caverns should had shovels of gravel applied first, proceeding accordingly. Add on the many trucks going through the alley to work on the new project over summer and cars zooming in/out alley to drop kids off. In essence, fruitless remedy. Alderman Gardner, I asked for speed bumps to be placed on Webb, due to fast driving on our street before and after school. Where do we go from here?
Take down that picture of Quack. She was probably the most corrupt mayor Cal City ever had outside of the current racist mayor Jones. I left Cal City 20+ years ago. The city is run by dummies. If you want Cal City to be successful, you need to crack down on crime and reduce taxes as much as possible. I will bet you there is so much waste of taxpayer money going on, it's ridiculous. Cook County Tax Assessor Fritz Kaegi per Fox 32 News, July 22, 2024, "...the tax burden on residents in Calumet City and other south suburban communities is partly due to the Cook County Board of Review granting significant tax breaks to large businesses, such as $370,000 reduction given to local Home Depot. However, the Board argues that the Assessor's office made errors in property assessments, contributing to the issue." I betcha you did, Kaegi! Mayor Jones is "proposing a legislative solution to provide relief. He is crafting a bill that would offer residents a $5,000 credit towards their tax bills."
Economic Development in Cal City is essential in creating a better way of life for constituents, which Cal City has been granted grants for Economic Developments through the Infrastructure Bill and other sources. Thank you, President Biden! I find it painful to see stalled projects around the city with an inkling of work to not starting at all. Economic Growth with the planned purchase of Shopper’s World (another purchase cost), for redevelopment of an apartment building with a hefty price that will be trickled down to homeowners’ taxes. I understood the state funding and Cook County Land Bank estimated it at $60 mil. Projected cost $110 mil! Economic Growth is not going to guarantee revenue with redevelopment of Shopper’s World. Cal City has purchased abandoned homes in our municipality, which can be revamped for home usage and income for the city. Regarding the outlandish hike in residential property taxes, the mayor is not to blame for the 30-50% increase. Mayor Jones addressed the local property taxes have not risen in the last few years. One can check previous billings. Cook County Assessor’s Office is using outdated/inaccurate information doing Triennial Property Tax Assessment. It is vital an appeal must be made with due diligence to accurately search for comps that match your property’s attributes/characteristics. A property tax bill is determined by the amount the municipal charge and the property’s owner’s assessed value of home. One other thought came to mind, 2020 was a seller’s market with incredibly low interest rates. With that being said, the Triennial Property Tax Assessment may have solidified the higher taxes in the second installment property’s taxes 2023. County Assessor information showing the housing market boom in value of the homes due to the seller’s market. Hence, state law makers must stop this Triennial Property Tax Assessment!
I can not assess how my property tax bill portion to Cal City is .37 cent per homeowner, as the mayor mentioned. In viewing the 2023, 2nd installment property tax bill, assessed for school district, library, Memorial Park District, and City of Cal City , certainly adds up more than 37 cent. Not including Thornton Township, Mosquito Abatement Program and Cook County. This video is the first I have heard of the Youth Employment Program. I would have made a community message on the Ring app. Youths need to stay engaged and not idle. Wow, Green Alley Project sounds so enchanting, which would be a dream for our alley that is riddled with holes that have become craters filled with rocks by neighbors. My vehicle may have been victim to the deep caverns in the alley with a $350+ left wheel bearing replacement. New tires purchased last year, and the alignment was so minor. Thus, I am concluding that it was not normal wear and tear. I called Public Works early March to have the alley at 400 Webb regraded, contacted via email Alderman (no pics) and Department of Public Works with pictures. Street is plagued with deep potholes as well. Guess my .37 from property tax is not going to go too far.
With a sleepless night, I had to revisit Cal City’s HO property tax assessed .37 to the municipal. Thinking perhaps, .37 per each dollar of total assessment to include all variables; Park, library, schools, Cal City. Viewing the transcripts seems ubiquitous in the transcript. See video/transcript @ 50:15 - 50:35. The portion of the tax bill is 37 cents. Then, it mentioned approximately 37 cents more. I can only conclude from my 2nd installment tax bill of 2023, much more went to the coffer of Cal City. #misinformation

Great I hope they are getting funding to fix the other streets cause I know most definitely 147th between Sibley and Wentworth needs fixing,new traffic flow cause they do not pay attention to the stop signs at all plus the safety of homeowners and pedestrian and the day care on the corner need a traffic light there or speed bumps they think Sibley is a racetrack how fast they be driving is ridiculous.🙏🏾

Brenda Bell, an employee of the nursing home, took 81 years old Oliver Bacott from the nursing home and married him without his ID. Can you help. Why werent the previous detectives names given out? I mean good job but anyone can send evidence in for testing... it was the previous meticulous detectives that documented this to the fullest that justice was able to be served today.
