That Pedal Show is dedicated to anyone and everyone with an interest in great guitar sounds. Our main focus is effects pedals, but that also means a lot of talk about amps, guitars and everything else that goes in to making fantastic tones. You can expect demos and comparisons of new and not-so-new gear, all with plenty of comment and opinion.
We are…
Daniel Steinhardt Boss man at TheGigRig, a company dedicated to helping guitarists and bass players achieve constant inspiration from their tones. Daniel has also been a professional guitar player since he was about, ooh, eight.
Mick Taylor Former editor-in-chief of Guitarist magazine, having spent almost 20 years to date as a guitar journalist, commentator and creative professional. Mick has played in bands since before he was born. Or at least it feels like it.

I find this fascinating for the simple fact that, to my ears, none of these pedals had that ozone, fried bacon high-end harshness that I hear with modelers. That seems like the sweet spot for tubes or even analog generated tones. Thanks for another great video.
I absolutely loved the brief discussion on the pedal price! Utterly important and urgent discussion we need to have (not just in guitar world - but everywhere). We need to support companies that pays fair wages, respect employees rights and respect our environment. That will come with a cost and perhaps we will not have the money to buy 10 different cheaply made overdrives. I see a lot of complaints about how companies treat their employees and we continue to employ their services (Amazon being a prime example). Thank you for that!
Totally missed this episode! The DD200 is a great pedal. But I got the MD200 and the Rotary was not great and they should have had a Dimension sound instead of 2 different Choruses and Phasers! Happier with the Strymon Mobius now. Even if some of the sounds are not as great as my Bucket brigade pedals, it's as close as it gets! The Revival is a great pedal! Didn't like the Fender pedal and the Fuzz, well into a clean tone, it's hard to tell! Cool episode though!
@@ThatPedalShow Haha, it was just funny, was all … 😅. But for communication issues, we’d be living in a kind of paradise … 😉 … PS - stupid jazz hipsters !!! 😜☺️
Btw: TS5 going into the Kaluna was sonic bliss incarnate. For a second there it sounded like the late great Gary Moore himself had been resurrected. I NEED that pedal,- like now!
Next time you do this,(we all know there will be a next time) maybe try a TC Electronic "Tube Pilot" as its a real tube (12AX7) overdrive for under a hundred dollars.
Yes, I learned more about the importance of the right had than I did the left fingering while watching that. His follow through strumming was particularly informative.
Several different names may be applied to a guitar chord. Precise fingering is required to recreate the sound. Instead of naming I just show where each finger played goes. Each fingering ca be based on a first position chord form - but that's never enough. Also, the same chord is modified according to where in the tune and with whatever other instrument it shines. I'll notate the general style of playing so that the tune progresses. I am always listening and may vary from those notations nearly every time. Staying aware of the whole and my part in it keeps the presentation alive.
I have a real tube overdrive pedal; THE ‘Real Tube’ by Tube Works. I think it’s a variation of the Tube Driver because it’s also designed by BK Butler. It does that punch at the front of the pick attack that Dan loves really well.
Small point about the Dunlop Echoplex Delay (EP103). Dunlop also sells an Echoplex Preamp/Boost (EP101). It is a shame you did not include this in your “battle of the tape delays”.
Don't sleep on the EHX tube series pedals everyone out there. Phenomenol but shitty power supply. But can be had on the cheap and some of the best pedals out there. Very large though.
Have you had the chance to try the Light Pedal by Gamechanger Audio? It would may be quirky enough to have a whole other video about this drippy and wonderful effect 😍
This is really interesting. Over the past couple of years I’ve been liking a treble bleed when really what I needed was a buffer. Now that I have one, I hate the treble bleed.
Mick, I know your tastes and mine don't totally align, but EASILY the best Fender I've ever shared a room with was a friend's 1962 brown Vibrolux. It's everything good about the Deluxe Reverb; it fixes everything BAD about the Deluxe Reverb; it starts warming up & crunching at sane volumes, because it's running two 6L6s intentionally underpowered at 30-35 watts, so less blaring headroom and more of the good good stuff; and it also has enough mids, even quiet, to take gain pedals beautifullly at any volume. I'd love to see/hear you with one & learn what you think.
Bugger. I was on the look out for a delay/verb. I am now thinking about spending mega bucks on the Meris X. Sounds like the ultimate partner for my MOOD mk2.
When I hear (or see, or read) someone who is obviously more artistic in presentation, I am reminded of the need to be more present. Only afterward, if I then realize I've lost track of time, that is the evidence of the quality of my presentation. It is the builder of the trend toward being here now. I cannot then compare objectively and that is a reminder that all of value is subjective.
