I think those are micro’s not sister locks due to the size, but those are cute. I just got my establishment completed and it took me 4 days to get it completed.
@JoyMorrisBeauty
@JoyMorrisBeauty 2 дня назад
They are most definitely Sisterlocks, although microlocks are nice too. There is still some size variation within the Sisterlocks standards and I never liked the teeny tiny ones. With six inches of natural hair, my loctician who is skilled with speed was able to install mine in 12 hours. Each loctician is different.

Wow! Deep cinnamon is my fav (but I generally lean to more towards no-makeup-makeup). I’m sure the deep olive would work great for a soft or full glam look. Either way the coverage is amazing!!!! I’m impressed - especially for a drugstore product.

Can you please share with me the details of what your dermatology prescribed for you for your scalp? I have alopecia really bad on the sides.
@JoyMorrisBeauty
@JoyMorrisBeauty 28 дней назад
Hi! You might have a type of alopecia different than mine because mine affects the top of my scalp. Also there are many different treatment plans that a derm may use depending on the type of alopecia and what is going on with each medical case. Having said that, I am prescribed to use liquid metformin on my scalp each night and liquid clobetasol when needed. I have several different videos in my alopecia playlist that you may find interesting because I’ve been making videos on this topic for almost a few years now. Good luck to you.

@@JoyMorrisBeauty yes, I’ve always watched them. I have went to a dermatology before and he told me to use Rogaine for it. I got frustrated and stopped using it. Perhaps I’d talk to him about it or find another dermatologist. Thanks

Hi Joy, when you wash your hair twice are a week, are you separating your Locs both times?
@JoyMorrisBeauty
@JoyMorrisBeauty 29 дней назад
I just wash them loose as if they were loose hair. I’m not braiding and banding anymore. I probably should be braiding and banding my bangs but i honestly have only done it one or two times since I cut them. I hope that answers your question.
@judybrown5303
@judybrown5303 23 дня назад
Not braiding and banding but separating your Locs at the root so they don’t intertwine /marry. Or have you stopped that completely?
@JoyMorrisBeauty
@JoyMorrisBeauty 23 дня назад
@@judybrown5303you know I’m really lazy about doing that so I haven’t done it in a really long time and i also haven’t experienced any issues with them intertwining.

Your locks look gorgeous!! I'm so happy that your friend suggested layering the area affected by CCCA so you can continue to grow your locs. I know you feel blessed to have your CCCA under control and continue gaining length. It is a wonderful feeling for this CCCA to be under control. I know when I was first diagnosed I thought I would have to cut my hair and give up on my dream to continue growing it because of all the pics I saw of severe balding. Here I am 1 1/2 years later my CCCA is under control and my hair is continuing to grow and also thicken back up from the shedding. I also have to shampoo twice per week, but it's a small price to pay to keep my scalp healthy. My scalp is sun sensitive also and I thought it was because of having SLE. Maybe it is a combination of having SLE and CCCA. My head is larger than average too. It's so ironic that you found Sun Grubbies. I buy mine from Amazon. I actually hate wearing hats, but I don't want my scalp to itch and burn. I also use wraps and wide headbands for variety.

Thank you! 😊 We have a lot in common! It’s just a great feeling to be stable isn’t it? I’m happy for you! I was so worried when I was first diagnosed, I was actually consumed with worry about it for so long. So being here right now feels amazing to me! Yes I am very grateful that my friend suggested layering my locs ❤️ Yes I’m pretty sure I’ll be shampooing twice a week indefinitely because when I don’t I can feel the difference in my scalp. I didn’t know that Amazon had larger fashionable hats, I’ll have to check that out. Thank you for the recommendation ❤️

Thank you for this video. I was diagnosed with aleopia, but i think it's ccca. It started small but now it's big. Ive been considering traveling to another state to see a black dermatologist. Im on a journey for better health and hair. Im 42 just have a baby 2 years ago, i think my hormones are getting back to their normal. When I have scalp flair ups, i use aloe vera and turmeric paste(i make it). Both are good for inflammation. I am also pre-diabetic, so im changing the way I eat. I live it Az, and its very dry here, so i oil my spot with clove oil and tee tree oil. I also take collegen and d3, i feel like both helped my hair stay healthy. Its just the inflammation. So, im now taking pumpkin seed oil and turmeric with black pepper, and limiting my stress. My hair does grow back, just not as long. I do wear braids, i dont braid the spot where the aleopia is i braid around it and pull the rest up in a loose ponytail. Ive been contempleting on getting microlocs because of the size and the lightness of them.

Hi! I’m sorry to hear that you have alopecia. Yes having a black female dermatologist has been a game changer for me. I’m glad that you’ve been able to figure out some lifestyle changes to help control your inflammation. Locs have been a great style for me to have with my alopecia, it’s the most gentlest style I can have for my sensitive scalp. Good luck to you!

The price can really vary and my Sister locks are 3 years old now so I’m sure my installation price is outdated. I would think anywhere from 700 to several thousand dollars would be a possible quote, but the price can vary based on how many inches of hair you have and the experience level of the loctician.

I have CCCA. I have been diagnosed via biopsy, and also have a Black woman dermatologist. Here is everything I did to grow my hair back, although I am still struggling. 1) Went on doxycycline for three months: This is an antibiotic and can help stop the inflammation. 2) Steroid injections every month for six months. 3) Prescription topical Minoxidil with Tretinoin and a steroid. 4) PRP injections a few times. 5) Started Nutrafol supplement. 6) Spironolactone: Went on and off but this really helped. 7) Nizoral shampoo. This took me from two very large bald areas on the side of my head to having hair again. Although the bald patches are not at long as they used to me. Now I just use the prescription topical and take Nutrafol. I wish I had started the more aggressive treatments sooner before I lost so much hair.
@JoyMorrisBeauty
@JoyMorrisBeauty Месяц назад
Thank you so much for sharing your treatment plan. That’s amazing that you were able to regrow your hair! We tried the docycycline but I had a really bad allergic reaction to it. The next step in my plan was the shots into the scalp, but between the my topical metformin and clobetasol, as well as everything I’ve done holistically, we were able to stop it from advancing. I am glad you didn’t give up and that you were and to find something that works. Good luck to you!

I cut my micro locks the same year that you recorded this video because my crown was thinning. After cutting it I fell into that tunnel of uncertainty of what to do with my 4C hair. Perming it was out. I don’t like how fros look on me and wigs are too hot. Lately I’ve been considering getting sisterlocks because there are now more certified consultants in my city and I miss being locked but am afraid to make that investment only to have to cut them again. Thanks for your video! I started taking Nutroful and I’m going to see a dermatologist before scheduling a sisterlock consultation. Thanks again for this video.
