Looks like a great build, and thank you for the tips! I'm in the planning stages, and it's astounding what details You don't even know you're needing to fret over yet.
Good luck, I hope you get through IVA the way you have explained. I have just got a Cobra EV through IVA and 2024 plated but that required a very expensive UN R100.01 test at MIRA in Nuneaton prior to IVA. Will be really interested to see how you get on
Thankyou for so many hours study and recreation and talking about these cars with motoring mates from Australia. PS this car needs to be in the UK motoring museum next to all the Great Marque's thankyou again

The Lola GT was an aluminum monocoque and Lola’s specs called for the same. Ford bosses insisted on mild steel. 😫 Gord in Toronto, RCR GT40 ( aluminum 😎 ) off to be painted.
Man. Maybe I WILL end up using some of the stuff that came with my roller. Great idea to just factory attachment stuff for suspension pick up points and build out the rest.
The tyres (tires) on the Ferraris were supplied by the Belgian company Engelbert, who subsequently entered into a partnership with Uniroyal and were taken over by Continental. Nothing to do with Pirelli.
That crash that ended this event was- from what I’ve read- really grisly for those who had to deal with it. Spectators killed, some pretty violently plus a driver essentially ripped in half. Not a pretty scene.
Hi Mike, The builder is a quiet and private man and I will pass on your questions. I have asked if he would consider joining us in a building Webinar about the project but he prefers to live a private life.
Hey Jim, From Al, The seats are Recaro’s from a Porsche 914. I bought them used from a friend. Stock 914 seats reportedly work pretty well also as the 914 seat is narrow.
Ron is a very interesting and passionate man and he gave me a lot of his time with his personal involvement modifying my chassis in the driver's footwell to take account of my height when I placed my order. I'll never know what planet he was on in his £250 build cost claim but nonetheless it set the tone for building an interesting and fun car on the cheap which in my case turned out to be about £4000!
Hi Malcolm, Thanks for this! We are planning to expand on his story and would love the opportunity to have a chat with you. Please contact me through my email (on our RU-vid channel home page). Cheers 🥂 Jim
I always wanted to build one from the time the book first came out. But family responsibilities and not knowing how to weld I kept pushing it off. I'm now 72 YO and would still like to build one just to say I did it . The problem I now have is my wife would make me get rid of my Spitfire as I'm not allowed to take up the entire garage .
