It is so idiotic and politically motivated to equate number of mining licenses to galamsey. Granted that one could say the more licenses you issue, the more likely you would have illegal mining. However, both the NDC and NPP during their terms have issued licenses and we all know that some of the licenses were used for galamsey. Okudzeto the perpetual sanctimonious politician who would not let the police do a follow up investigation after cash was stolen from his house and car. He knows he got the cash illegally! Ghanaians should never trust these politicians, it all depends on who’s in power. Citizens have to solve the galamsey problem by empowering the youth at the galamsey centers to report to police and action groups.

Small scale mining was banned in Ghana until 1987, when the PNDC government lifted the ban. Let's go back to the ban. All mining in the country should be done only by large companies with the expertise to mine responsibly. And all such new large scale mines should be owned 100% by the state.
