This is a poorly made video. We hear from none of his team mates, but we hear from a comedian who makes fun of him (although praise as well). But they should have interviewed the team mates who knew first hand what a world class player Beardsley was. One of the very best who played for Liverpool.
Both him and Barnes inspired my football as a young teenager as I learned their moves, never knowing who to imitate when on the pitch because they were both as good as each other IMO. Their combination moves were just magic, with Aldridge always on the end of them. When he left in 1991, to say I was gutted is an understatement and cemented my hatred for Souness forever. When yuo look back, selling him was the beginning of Liverpool's 30 year downfall.
Bob Paisley created this player in midfield.at Liverpool. He was a better player on the left midfield than Trevor Brooking sadly though he never got many Caps for England because Ron Greenwood in the 70's was an ex West Ham manager managing England and Brooking a West Ham player at the time. RIP Ray.
class act jan was and for some who said he couldn't run the goal againts them lot from down the m62 in the cup that's my fav goal from him and his passing was unreal
Very good player. I think he may have been Fagan’s last buy, and was definitely with an eye to Kenny’s eventual replacement. I don’t think he was quite up to being a Liverpool player though. I think the pressure of knowing he was meant to be Kenny’s replacement and the expectations that came with that were probably too much. Injuries didn’t help, but neither did his lack of professionalism off the field. His days were numbered when we brought in Barnes & Beardsley.
I worked at a Travel Agent. Craig Johnston came in and went into the office of the boss. Doors closed and the boss wouldn't say what it was about - totally confidential. We found out later about his sisters illness and Craig leaving LFC to look after her. Our Travel Agency had booked him a one way ticket. Gutted when I found out. Although what a bloke of integrity. I watched him from the Kop. I thought he brought the game to life when there was a lull. Top player.
