Busboys and Poets is a restaurant, bar, bookstore and community gathering place. First established in 2005, Busboys and Poets was founded by owner Andy Shallal (@andyshallal), an artist, activist, and restaurateur. After opening the flagship location at 14th and V Streets, NW DC, the neighboring residents, and the progressive community embraced Busboys and Poets, particularly activists opposed to the Iraq War.
Busboys and Poets is now located in eight distinctive neighborhoods in the Washington D.C Metropolitan and Baltimore areas. Busboys and Poets is a cultural hub for artists, activists, writers, thinkers, and dreamers.
Why the name? The name Busboys and Poets refers to American poet Langston Hughes, who worked as a busboy at the Wardman Park Hotel in the 1920s, prior to gaining recognition as a poet.

It's funny how talking about the white middle class is not considered "indenity politics". 🤔 I never even heard of "identity politics " before nor did I know know "woke" had replaced "political correct". I had not been watching the news or following politics for years. I just happened to be watching RU-vid 10months ago. Now I understand why I kept hearing mostly white ,cis, hetro males saying "it's not about race ". I hate to break to you but it's been about race every since. The rich and powerful invented Whiteness to "divide and Conquer " . The African slaves and European indentured servants. So I think it's safe to say that those privileges have not ended considering the current political climate 🤔 stay WOKE.
No, the studies show that more than a million Iraqis were killed, the country was destroyed & the region was destabilized for the foreseeable future, all for the benefits of Israel and the Zionist lobby that controls ALL of our politics. I knew this when it was happening back in the late 2002 and early 2003! Most of us knew the influence of the lobby and their foot soldiers in the form of the Neo-Cons of that era. Then they destroyed Syria and Libya, for the same reasons, of course. Now, it’s Gaza’s turn. The American people are scared to speak out for the fear of their livelihoods, for the fear of the safety and financial security of their children. In a sense we are being imprisoned without knowing it. A prison for our minds and our conscience and our “free will” !
And as far as 9/11?… hope you have at least a basic high school understanding of gravity and free falling objects. Point is skyscrapers do NOT fall at free fall speed into the path of greatest resistance (the path of greatest resistance is by definition the rest of the building underneath). And buildings do not pulverize into fine dust as the fall. If you don’t understand that simple fact of nature and science, then sorry no one can help you except for self education. Cheers!

I'm a fan of Norman. Not so sure about Busboys. I didn't like the "tap them on the shoulder and tell them to stop talking " bit. There is a whole negative cultural movement right there. How about just ask them politely ? No tapping. No telling. Ugh ! Ok can ff to Norm now !
