We didn't do the best job of showing it in this much older style video, but yes, they lay flat very easily, largely due to the edge-lined binding style and smyth-sewn pages. Having paid $225 for basically the same Bible, except bound in the Netherlands and in Goatskin, and isn't large print. Wish I would have known a large print was available. I was pretty disappointed when I found a large print was available. Happy with the Bible, but use it at home only. Wanted a larger print for church.

I own a 1982 Kirkbride 4th that I purchased new in college. Fortunately I never marked it up and it's like new. No thanks, I don't want a Chinese Thompson. About a year ago, I bought The Hallelujah Scriptures Bible with all of the origininal Hebrew Names. I underlined every single word in crayon with a specific color coding. This is my way to "Selah" every single word.🎉 So after being a complete hypocrite in the church for 50 years, I finally came out...after I found out that it only takes 1 DAY to Listen to the NT Bible. I saw that every single pastor had been lying. In just 1 Day, The Truth healed my mind, body, soul and spirit!😂 It only takes 72 hours to Listen to the whole Bible: 72Hr÷30 Days=2.4Hr/Day. I discovered and purchased my first TCR Bible in 1975. I was in college and it was a considerable amount of money on my budget. I never regretted it. It is still the only study Bible. I know that is lacking in bias. I absolutely prefer the original Kirkbride editions, But I am glad that Zondervan is not letting it die.
Does this Bible have the Hebrew alphabet/acrostics in Psalms, Proverbs, and Lamentations? I’m looking for a large print KJV Bible that includes them. Some just have the alphabet in Psalms 119.
The Hebrew alphabet/acrostics only appear in the "text" of Psalms 119 (Aleph, Beth, Gimel, Daleth, etc...) in the normal header format in the white space that separates the sections of verses (Aleph is Psalm 119:1-8, Beth is Psalm 119:9-16, etc...) While this bible, and no King James Version bible currently in print (to our knowledge, please reference one if you know differently so we can check it) does not have the acrostics in Proverbs 31:10-31 or Lamentations 1-4, the book introductions of both Proverbs and Lamentations do reference the Hebrew and Greek root words and significance quite heavily such as: Proverbs: "the Hebrew title of this book is Mishle shelomoh, "Proverbs of Solomon. The Greek title is Paroimiai Salomontos, "Proverbs of Solomon". The Latin ttle Liber Proverbiorum, "Book of Proverbs," combined the words pro "for" and verba "words" to describe the way the proverbs concentrate many words into a few. The rabbinical writings called Proverbs Sepher Hokhman, "Book of Wisdom." Lamentations: "Jeremiah writes his lament in acrostic or alphabetical fashion. Beginning each chapter with the first letter A (aleph) he progresses verse by verse through the Hebrew alphabet, literally weeping from A to Z... The Hebrew title of this book comes from the first word of chapters 1, 2, and 4: Ekah, "Ah, how!" Another Hebrew word Ginoth ("Elegies" or "Lamentations") has also been used as the title because it better represents the contents of the book." I thought maybe there was a KJV on the market that has them in print. Most KJV bibles that I have seen don’t have them at all or only have them in Psalms 119. I have four KJV bibles and only one has them in Psalms 119. I’ve always thought they were a neat exquisite addition to the scriptures, especially when listening to them on audio Bible. What should i get kjv 1611 or esv study bible im having a hard time choosing because on Amazon kjv 11611 is 22 dollars and esv study Bible is also 22 dollars
They are completely different bibles with completely different purposes altogether. Being that we are The "KJV" Store, we are of course always going to recommend a King James Version bible over a modern translation: www.thekjvstore.com/1611-edition-kjv-bible-hendrickson/ But the more practical answer would be that this 1611 KJV is intended more so for historical reference purposes, to see how words were originally spelled, capitalized, and presented 400 years ago vs. the "regular" KJV we use today (Cambridge 1762/1873 Text). Vs. the ESV Study bible would be a much more modern translation with the purpose of providing additional commentary and study material to the reader. We hope this helps and God Bless.
Bearing in mind that Thompson was NOT a Baptist theologically or doctrinally, NOT KJB and tended to run the notes in a penny'cost'al direction when it suited him.
Fair enough if true, but as with ANY study or reference bible made by man, there will always be some bias or doctrinal leanings ini any commentary or reference system. However, the Thompson still remains unique in that whatever "direction Thompson points you" he still allows Scripture to exclusively be interpreted and supported by Scripture for the reader, and thus allowing the reader to form their own interpretation of the references and Scripture being read. Also, there are no "notes" in the Thompson, so we wouldn't deem that an accurate part of your statement. I received my Bible very quickly after my order. I am certainly not KJV only; in fact, I find that rather silly because I speak several languages and study in more than just English. However, I ordered this for one main reason: it is made by Royal Jongbloed in the Netherlands, a company that produces higher quality Bibles than any available made in this country. In fact, I was rather surprised upon trying to find the copyright page that there was not one, and there was no place that its maker is listed that I could find. It is absolutely constructed to the standards of Schuyler and the other Jongbloed bibles I have seen. It is a work of art in itself. Furthermore, I am delighted to see a King James that is not using some antiquated semi legible text block. The text in this beautiful Bible is very legible and will be a joy with which to study. The paper is indeed, as expected, much higher in quality than anything I see from our major Bible makers in this country. The maps are awful. I think they were cribbed from some very old Bible text and are almost worthless, but that makes no difference to me since I use a Bible atlas anyway. This is indeed a very substantial and heavy Bible! Definitely not made for carrying around. My only other small criticism is that I prefer a more discreet display of the title the translation and the publisher on the spine; this is rather over the top, but that’s a minor thing. This fine Bible will be a joy for me to use and I appreciate your effort in offering it.

I truly appreciate a publisher, making the effort and taking the financial risk of offering a giant print Bible like this. It makes perfect sense to me that it would be in a fine synthetic, leather and affordable, because I think that so many of the target purchasers might be on fixed incomes and not able to afford a premium Bible. I particularly liked hearing that it is a sewn Bible. I have a couple of inexpensive fake leather Bibles that I have had over 40 years and still function great. So much of the time it is just a matter of how people treat their beloved Bibles as to how long they last. Plus, of course, people can always look at rebinding if necessary! I bought my first Thompson chain reference Bible in college 49 years ago. I went to your store site looking to replace my Kirkbride, which is rebound and extremely used. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I discovered that it is now made in red China. I ended up buying one of your goats skin wide margin bibles instead. It is so sad that our major Bible manufacturers in this country are now farming out Bibles to horrible countries just to save a buck or two. Fortunately, at least we have smaller manufacturers, including your store, who still have reverence for our Lord’s Scripture. At one time I thought peripherally that possibly someone working on these cheaply made Bibles in China might just find God while doing it, but I would rather just donate Bibles to China instead thank you so much, at least, for providing a choice for Christians like me.

For all of my long life, I have scrupulously avoided vanity Bibles, like this one, the Schofield, the MacArthur and Others. There is no need for any individual, including this person named Ryrie, To attempt to glorify themselves by placing their names In the titles. Fortunately, our Lord is the great equalizer.
Just a suggestion - so many people buying a premium Bible for the first time don’t understand the importance of breaking in that Bible when they first purchase it. It can make a world of difference in the longevity of the binding. For 50 years it has been my practice to always, always break in new Bibles before using them. Best wishes from Texas.

Betty from your company just sold a copy to me over the phone this morning. I was looking at replacing my Thompson but refuse to buy a Red Chinese Bible for more than paperback price. I know there are those who say it's excessive to spend premium price for Bibles. But--when David and then Solomon were accumulating supplies and building the Lord's temple, they didn't go to Wal Mart; no, the Lord deserved the best. I bought my first Kirk bride KJV Thompson in college in 1974. Still have it. Where are the new Zondervan owned premium edition versions printed and bound? I can’t seem to find that anywhere.
@@TheKJVStore Oh. I'm so glad I still have my 1964 edition, printed and bound here in the US! Zondervan is so famous for making cheapie Bibles. I am glad that at least this, the only bias-free study Bible, survives.
I learned, over a half century ago, that I prefer my Bible to be Undiluted by choppy Little paragraphs of someone’s theological bias. This type of format as shown here is fine for those who fool around with little pieces of scripture. However, for those of us who prefer deep reading, not just paragraph by paragraph, We’re already into the original format of the Bible, which didn’t have any of this extra stuff can make Lectio Divina much more productive. But, if one is the type of Bible reader who likes little bits at a time this format may be preferable. Thank you for your advertisement review.

I love how the font in all of these Note Takers Bibles is the exact same one seen in older Giant Print KJV Bibles from the 1970s the most common seen ones being those "Old Time Gospel Hour/Faith Partner Edition" Bibles (and it's ideal if you can't read small print), except these use numbers for books like e.g., 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy whilst the older ones used Roman numerals. This is another KJV I'd plan to get (I'd use it to not only write down notes but also show how there are certain Old Testament and New Testament verses that compliment each other). I'd probably get this one over the goatskin one as it's cheaper, and woah, I didn't know the cover could be that flexible (I've grown to prefer Bibles with semi-limp covers), the most flexible Bible cover I've seen. 😲

Looks lovely, though not sure how I feel about the lack of any references. But I guess that lets you interpret the text freely without influence, so as to draw your own meaning from it.
Yes, that's exactly right and is purposefully done with our Note Taker's Edition, to give an alternative to reference and/or commentary and study bibles, and to allow the user to create their own references, commentary, outlines, artwork, etc... Really appreciate your tutorials. Always informative, helpful, and even encouraging. The Scofield definitely has some helpful attributes. The one thing that has kept me from getting a Scofield Bible is the references that question the text using the critical text. These are "hath God said" questions. This has also kept me from getting a Longprimer for my library. Is there a 1917 Scofield that has these critical text references removed? Any other thoughts on this?
We believe such comments or references are few and far between in the Scofield and don't make it worthy of throwing out the baby with the bath water. If you had a Scofield that has things removed or changed, then it would no longer be the original 1917 Edition. It's worth noting that even edge-lined bibles with perimeter stitching and smyth-sewn pages still include "glue" in some parts, especially where the spine of the book block is attached to the leather cover. With that said, sewn and edge-lined is definitely always going to be better for quality and longevity than a regular "paste-off" (glued) style binding that's found in the Nelson Study Bible Second Edition, but this is also reflected in it's lower price: www.thekjvstore.com/kjv-nelson-study-bible-second-edition/
Smyth-Sewn binding refers to the pages, more than the binding. It's not the same as an "Edge-Lined" Binding (think premium Edge-Lined Bibles published by The KJV Store). Per our original response, "smyth-sewn page bibles still include "glue" in some parts, and even more so in a Non-Edge-Lined binding such as these. We hope this makes more sense.

I wonder where this text block ultimately originated (old Cambridge block, maybe?), because I've had CBP's version for years. I use Pigma Micron 003s for my notes.
It may be similar to an out of print Cambridge, but we aren't absolutely sure. What we can say for sure is that it uses virtually the same layout and font as LCBP, CBP, and The KJV Store Lambskin Editions, only with enhanced typographical clarity, improved spelling and capitalizations, and additional Oxford helps in the back (Dictionary of Proper Names, Subject Index, Concordance) and as you know by now, printed and bound in the Netherlands by Royal Jongbloed, with superior paper, printing, leather, and binding techniques, which we hope makes it unique and distinguished from all existing KJV Note Taking and Wide Margin Bibles, as was our ultimate goal. I'm interested in buying a bible from this store as a collector piece, as I already own multiple bibles. Does anyone have any experience with how well they package their books? I've had a couple of bad experiences receiving damaged books because of poor packaging from other online stores.

Have you used this Bible thoroughly since you made this video? Just curious how the Bible holds up to a lot of use over the years. I saw one of these at Barnes and noble and it caught my attention.
Since it is a sample copy and not a personal bible, no, it has not been used much and is saved for reference in our office library. Since the time of this video (10 years ago in 2014) Holman has come out with new binding editions such as Leathersoft - Brown & Tan and Leathersoft Purple: www.thekjvstore.com/kjv-rainbow-study-bible-holman/ They are not "premium" in quality by any means, which is reflected in the price, but they should still hold up for many years being a soft binding.
