Hi! I’m Madeleine Harvey, a singing teacher and vocal coach in the Nashville, TN area. On this RU-vid channel I post voice lessons, singing techniques, singer tips, and performance best practices. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. If you would like to know more about private online voice lesson or singing lessons, please visit my website.
Thanks so much for checking out this voice lesson channel! I look forward to singing with you soon.
I am a former radio disc jockey who developed a deep, resonant voice. I sing pretty well (pitch control, breathing, etc.) until the song changes key and I have to sing in the upper register. This is where all hell breaks loose.....cracking, creaking, straining, dead tone, I sound like a dying calf, etc. It is so frustrating because there are so many songs I would love to sing and play my guitar to. As a side note I can recall in the last few months a couple of times my voice with into the upper register and sang beautifully and all the time I didn't know how it was doing it, only to come back down to earth the next time I tried. I hope you can help me.
I'm just curious, do you go and change your clothes for the thumbnail? Because I find videos based on your clothes on thumbnails, but when I click the video I wonder if I have the wrong video 😂
I usually do my exercises into a pillow, or into my bare arm for even more deadening. Another tip, if you play guitar or piano: I have a linen mask from covid days. It has an adjustable strap for a tight fit. It also has a pocket for a filter, but instead I put a pair of socks in there. It mutes my full voice by probably 60%. So you can sing and play with no worries.
Miss Harvey you are in for a treat! This is an excellent video!! The band is good. Floor is amazing and a gifted singer. She is trained... Here we go, enjoy!!! I've read that there are OVER 80,000 at this music festival. They seem to know Nightwish's music. Floor's stage presence is superb. In a moment they leave the stage. Upon their return Floor shows just how good she is! This is the section I'm referring to at 10:something. Listen to strut her vocal powers here! Notice how she includes the audience.. My favorite fact about Miss Floor is that she recently beat cancer!!! Floor is one heck of a singer.
I love how you break everything down in such a clear way! Your explanation of the thyroid and aroid muscles makes so much sense! I’ve always struggled with transitions, but this is a game-changer. 🎶
Would like so much to hear your take on Ren doing his song Hi Ren. I liked what you did with Disturbed The Sound Of Silence. Ren offers something very different vocally and there is definitely a lot going on. I think you will like the surprise that is Ren. Oh no copyright issues he is independent and fully supports anyone using his music. Blessed Be.
I can't believe I'm this early, no views no nothing. Never seen a video like this. Lovely that it is one of yours, your videos have helped me throughout the years! Needles to say, so glad to see you still active on youtube.
Thank you for this. Voice teacher here.... And though i have a degree in Vocal performance, i have never been taught how to teach this.... And I'm working with an adult student who had requested work in specific mixed voice. I love these exercises because it makes it very clear and I'll be using this with her. Thanks so much!!!
