I played today and had pistol locked in a locker at the end of the Arsenal. Like bro, I went through most of the game with no gun, I had shotgun, but barely any ammo for it at all.
That Traincart with the Hitscanners has to be the most unfair moment in video game history, since you literally can take 20% damage from all of them at the same time, meaning the moment you open a door, you can die on the first frame they can fire...

Great playthrough! It's really interesting to see how the gameplay is handled on max difficulty. I guess there's no other option than to just passive-aggressively dodge around the Beast and go do stuff elsewhere when he spawns in these conditions. If you don't mind, I had some questions: 1. is it possible to beat the game with any degree of consistency on max difficulty, or do you generally need many resets and a good RNG? 2. Can you stumble upon the Beast free roaming on the map even if no music is playing? I see you sometimes glance around carefully even when it's completely quiet.
@@AKheon Thank you! Nah, no problem. 1. Surprisingly, you only need a bit of luck at the start of the game to make it to the pillbox and once you get the boltcutters, the ball really starts rolling. I wager that even with the most unlucky seed the game is beatable on Max difficulty, it just takes longer which can lead to impatience and you'll make mistakes, which are often game-ending. 2. Could you point out a section or two where I do this? My memory is a bit hazy. But generally, you are never too sure and you always want to make sure you have an exit strategy from any area. Fun fact, it is possible to make the Beast spawn next to the safe room when it's chasing you through loading areas if you try to outrun it. Edit: on second look, I remembered that some areas are so big that the roaming music cuts off when the Beast is really far away and goes to the default area music even though it is still out roaming. Good example is waiting next to the prison loading area when the Beast is roaming around the captured German soldier.
@@Muty 1. Okay, interesting to know. I wonder if anyone will ever give max difficulty win streaking a try. That kind of thing is always interesting to see in difficult, unpredictable games (Slay the Spire, etc.). 2. At the very least, I noticed you often take a look around in the crossroads before the safe room even when it's silent.
1:17:20 only when you paused and showed this screen did I realize how insane of a challenge this was to attempt, my hat is off this is a real feat of mastery
1:21:29 seeing you turn on the gen then run for the roman tunnels without the cutters to cut the chain blocking the door and without cutting them prior to turning on the gen is like watching the JFK parade knowing whats about to happen but unable to look away or stop it lol
