Good music certainly appreciated by more and more people, even though who don't have enough money to buy concert tickets and albums. Stepping into the third year in a non-profit way, my RU-vid page has been resetting some music out of many albums in an effort to get them spread around the world. That is what music for. It should go above money, time and places, jumping out of the limitation of albums and auditoriums. I will keep doing it and get good music appreciated by more people.
Finzi's Ecologue for piano and string is a beautiful lyrical masterpiece. He did write quite a few slow chamber pieces that remind of the ecolugue...i wish he wrote more orechestral music. He is known today for mostly his choral works.
The links to the individual movements at the bottom lead to unavailable videos, except for the link to the third movement (the funeral march) which leads to a different performance by a different pianist (Daniel Herscovitch).
In this performance, Pollini starts the repeat of the opening section of the first movement at the very beginning. In his earlier performance, he starts it at the beginning of the "Doppio Movimento" section, which is more common, both in performance and in editions of the music. (It is disputed where it should start.) See the Wikipedia article on the subject.
A delight to hear Andsnes play Brahms. Few pianist could be as eloquent, precise, and clean as him for the Brahms concerti, espc his no.2 with Berlin Philharmoniker.
I would imagine there are no other folks listening to piano solo anymore, particularly this one. That being said, I always get a goose bump whenever I listen to Heifetz, Horowitz, Rayburn, and let's not forget, Domingo and Jody Jiang's rendition of .Flower in the Rain. Now this one. Fabulously interpreted and performed. After wiping off my tears, I checked out this young musician's profile. I sincerely wish him the best towards his artistic pursuit, considering the broader environment that he is in. God bless.
