Marginally above average left handed guitarist having spent endless hours (days) scrolling through tube, trying and failing to find that one gear demo that would justify pulling the paypal trigger, ill be trying to fill in the gaps with my own content. An additional focus on left handed guitars (plague of my life!) and anything else worthy of content.

Loud what does it mean. Well I was testing my Fender twin reverb amp 100 Watts with 2x 12L EV 300 W speakers when working with my amp tech moding the amp to have a varable effects loop installed. The amp was on the floor facing away from us in a medium sized room. It was difficult to turn it up near max volume. The amp is used for big venues. Still love it and use it if we have road crew as it is too heavy for my bad back.

Surprising seeing that Fender, of all things, is renowned for their excellent necks. I had my suspicions that this might be a "gimmick" guitar when I saw that it was made in Mexico. Which is strange, because I feel there is a HUGE potential market for this guitar if priced correctly. It must be tuff being a lefty. Glad my first grade teacher made me start writing with my right hand since i am ambidexterous.

Hey great video!! Between the american original and the Pro II, would you say that if you put the same pups, the PV65 in the Pro II, will sound identical or almost identical to the AO60?? I like the idea of a more modern, more friendly to play and gorgeous looking strat (i like miami blue hehe), but I do prefer the vintage strat sound. I know the vmods are king of vintage-modern, but just wondering if I put a vintage set, if it will sound like a vintage strat or close enough. thanks!!

As a huge Nirvana fan, these Fender signature models are not worth your money. There are so many in accuracies between these and Kurt’s actual jag that they end up sounding nothing like it. For the price you’re paying it’s absolutely not worth it. If you’re looking for a HH Jag I’d recommend the Classic Player, much better guitar.
@FOSIFER
@FOSIFER Год назад
They resell expensive, so they are worth their price just for that. Regarding the appearance of the "real" KC Jag ', it is close enough aesthetically to be satisfied. The owners are very happy (including me) and the sound, for what we do (grunge) is quite correct, especially with good pedals, any model of guitar will be magnified
@wastewoodrockers5526
@wastewoodrockers5526 Год назад
@@FOSIFER Agree with you on resale value being a potential purchase factor and as a collectors item, sure they’re cool to have. As for the quality, aesthetics and sound the KC signature Jag is nothing more than mediocre IMO.

I have a few 2011 road worn Cobain jaguars that I picked up back in 2012-2013 and they sound incredible. 2011 was the first year of this signature model and it was only available as a road worn guitar for the first few years. You could find these as cheap as $600 dollars used at the time if you held out for a private sale vs buying pre-owned at a store. The quality is top notch as well. When I researched this guitar at the time, I found that a lot of components were actually American but the guitar ultimately was built at the factory in Mexico, hence the MIM. I cannot confirm this though so take that with a grain of salt. Ultimately, this guitar quickly grew to be my favorite axe of all time and I’ve been fortunate enough to have owned many along with playing dozens of different guitars in my life. Maybe the nos models or simply the mim guitars have taken a dip in quality. It would be really disappointing if that’s the case because these Cobain signature models have immense range, sound incredible, and seemingly never-ending tonal potential. For the Nirvana fans that are interested in this guitar, you can get very accurate Nirvana tones if you already play similar sounding stuff (rock, metal, grunge, etc) with your setup.
@wastewoodrockers5526
@wastewoodrockers5526 11 месяцев назад
@@MittenOverlanding That’s fair enough. I just think there’s better options than the signature models. The NOS version at least have a thick polyester finish and sound nothing like what they should IMO. I have, and know many others who have built custom jag’s to Kurt’s spec and I think it’s a much better way to go if you want something that looks and sounds the part. Nothing against owners of the signature model, just think you get something that is a much nicer and higher quality build when you go DIY.

I don't think you gave an accurate demonstration. You only played light strums, no power chords, you didn't attack the strings at all. If loudness was a problem where you were you should do it somewhere else where it isn't an issue.I think the problem with the Super Cub 12 is, it doesn't have a dedicated clean channel, which it should. I own a Laney VC 30 with a separate clean channel and there is no comparison. The VC 30 has way more headroom and sounds a lot cleaner. I would prefer an amp with a clean channel, no gain at all, then I can choose what pedals I would use to get the sound I want, not a manufacturer limiting my sound control with overbearing gain. I am disappointed with the clean sound from this amp and I am looking at removing the gain if that is possible. I would like to see a live comparison of this amp's clean sound with a Laney VC 30's clean sound or any tube amp for that matter.

Hey Rich...fellow lefty here in the States....started on a 64 Fender strat in the late 60's, got a Fender of Japan in the 80's, then had a few Mexi ones, and 2 years ago got a really great deal on a lefty Players and really love it. Never owned or played an American strat other than my '64. For 30th anniv. my missus said I can FINALLY splurge on a new/used American Strat! But I cant decide between the Standard, Performer, Pro I or II or the Ultra. The Vintage II and the "American Originals" are not a consideration. I play clean with a dash of reverb and a touch of delay...thats all! I use an old Rat when needed thru my 65 Deluxe and recently purchased Boss Katana 50 MK II. Cant decide, dont know how! As a certified guitar tech the fret and dry wood issues are not a big deal. Can be taken care of with a standard set up. I do them all the time. Thanks for the video warning me about the nut. Just ordered one and am going to make a bone nut to replace the factory one. Nut regulation is usually crap from the factory no matter what brand. I have strict measurement preferences for myself so this will be on my bench for a spa day as soon as it arrives.

I was excited to open my lefty Fender Original 50’s tele on Christmas Day… only to see a massive neck pocket gap on one side and a chip on the paint on the other. Many frets looked like they were cut too deep with filler put in. The ash tray cover also didn’t fit and the fancy tweed case jams when trying to open on one side, requiring a bread knife to pry open. Cheap and nasty on a guitar that retails for just under $4000 Australian dollars (got it on sale though). Also looked like the neck was put on while the nitro was still drying. TSo disappointing. It’s now being shipped back for an exchange. My last 2 guitars were Mayones, wasn’t expecting that kind of attention to detail but this was terrible.

I just watched a video where the guy compared the signature model to the Squier Jag, which he had 2 humbuckers installed on the Squier, and he rated the Squier much higher in workmanship. It is a drag that you need to address these issues from a new guitar. I can feel for you. BTW: I used to own a 1967 Jag, which in hindsight I should have held on to, but hindsight is always 20/20. To be honest the criticisms on this video are pointless: Fender NEVER offered binding over the frets, not even in the 60s. That's the way Fender necks were always built, if you don't have a humidifier and lemon oil for the fingerboard that's on you, not on Fender.

first of all.. there's a few jaguar models in the fender lineup that aren't the KC Jag so not sure where you got that info? And fender normally always do their frets over binding like that while gibson has always done them inside.. both have advantages of disadvantages.

@richardgardner8885 Год назад
I was referring to the left handed range. There are pretty much no jaguars available other than the KC model. The issue with the frets was that they are sharp and jagged. Had it setup and they are nice and smooth now. Much more comfortable to play.

@DelScully Год назад
@@richardgardner8885 ah okay that makes sense.. and yeah I own a few fenders in all price ranges with the neck binding and have played a custom shop one and its the only one I've seen with the frets underneath. Not sure why they do it that way, even my cheaper hagstrom has the frets underneath the binding to keep it smooth.. the only issue is when the wood shrinks and expands it'll create indents in the binding.
