Madam, you rendered kalyani very nicely, we understand that you have very good knowledge in carnatic music, violin and mridangam are obviously very good. So good.
Excellent singing. Captured much bhavas. Even novice like me can enjoy hindolam. Mridangam might have been better if mantained some restraint especially in the beginning and charanam parts. 🙏
Swift swaraalapana is wonderful and awesome. A thousand pranaams to you sri sankaran namboodriji! Really scintillating performance that nobody can replicate hindola like this. My hearty congratulations to the violinist, swetajee.
Nice rendition. This kriti is not often heared in cutchery platforms. This was a favourite of Musiri Subramaniyam Iyer. He used to sing in a relaxed phase. A perfect sync of vocalist and accompanists was there during swara singing
Wonderful voice and amazing singer.. but being Deekshithar composition it should be sung with sangathis as it s played in the veena and not lightly though Hindolam is a lighter ragam..! Deekshithar being a vainika , his compositions and gamakas are heavy ...! Swara patterns are good!

It is not enough one learns Karnatic music to be able to sing so beautifully like this. He shall have music with in his heart. Shree. Shankaran Nambudiri has music in his heart, brain and every part of his body. He is a born musician. I still enjoy the nostalgic memory of his great concert in the yard of my home at Othara on my 60th birthday.
Hindola that corresponds to Malkauns in the Hindustani system,is very beautiful. Hindustani Hindol is different! We always see in big concerts, often sung Hindolam kriti is certainly Samaja vara gamana of Thyagaraja. Mamavathu Sri Saraswati of Mysore Vasudevachar, Nambikettavar by Papanasam Sivan and this one- "Nirajakshi Kamakshi" or some other favourites. It is a symmetric ragam that does not contain Rishabham and Panchamam. Its a audava-audava , ie 5 - 5 ragam This pentatonic scales can be found in other world music such as Chinese music. Its notation is .G₂ M₁ D₁ N₂ Ṡ /: Ṡ N₂ D₁ M₁ G₂. It uses 'swaras'- sadharana gandharam, shuddha madhyamam, shuddha dhaivatam and kaisiki nishadam. Experts in Carnatic music hold differences of opinion on the janaka ragams (ragams of origin) that should be attributed to Hindolam. It is widely accepted that the 20th melakarta,, natabairavi, is the parent ragam of Hindolam, but some would like to associate it with the 8th melakarta, Hanumatodi. It can be derived from both, by dropping the Rishabham and Panchamam!... Sankaran Namboothiri invariably sings with perfect tone with just needed tempo precisely measured and will never sing without assimilating the pertinent brigas to fine tune sangathies as expected of the composition. Only drawback is that at times he may forgo the percussionist to avail the requisite space to put forth certain inputs for furthering the eloquence die to his exhilarated singing....Thats not happened here. Excellent recital...best wishes
