Geared towards 1/24 scale RC crawlers, this is where you can go to see highlight reels of remote control hobbies and testing to see what brands perform the best.
Currently I am working on a master list of 1.0 crawler tire grip testing to see which one provides the best grip.
When you showed the scale I was thinking about a loadcell together with an arduino to collect the data and then you reveal your plan and I was really excited! It is really awesome to see this technical approach and now I have a new project for my arduino. Thanks for the amazing video!
I have these wheels and they are perfect. You need to upgrade the servo and engine for the SCX24 but then everything works great way lower center of gravity on the deadbolt
I have the injura 180 48t pro motor with the low gearing and those brass wheels and tires on the trx 4m and it works absolutly great, but be careful with stripping the stock diff gears as I did, just get a set of steel gears
Hell yeah brother you just earned yourself a subscription! Haven't seen anybody taking tire testing to this extreme and am damn glad to see it! While you're at it, test out Injoras new S5 Swamp Claw Mud Terrain tires!!
I should have bought those instead of the steel injora ones and a cheap electric screwdriver like the wow stick made putting in the screws much simpler.
Seeing that many fiddly tiny screws scared me. I've been using glue on preassembled wheels and tires. I think the beadlocks limit tire sidewall flex a little. That's a crawler dreams are made out of, absolute perfection.
Dude I’ve been waiting forever to see this update. If we’re getting THIS in depth…. Make sure the surface and tires are at a controlled temperature 😁 in a poorly insulated garage the summer heat could have slightly different results from the cold of winter. Especially if the testing surfaces used (rocks and wood) sit out there getting cold/hot before being used for testing
@@cncrc man that’ll be an awesome video! what about foams? Maybe use some sort of printed insert (could be a pain because of different tire sizes) to keep the foam variable constant?… could even remove foams all together? I feel like using stock foams wouldn’t really test the tire as much as the foam supporting the tire but no foams could also hurt a soft tire that would perform great with some internal support
@@cncrc this sounds like the best and by far most comprehensive test ever! Do you have a timeframe in which you want to complete the test rig? I’m dying to see it!
i really hope this blows up to see this grow to 1/10th scale i have 2 scx24s and im planning on a tenth scale truck some time soon and finding tires for that will probably be the hardest since i wont be running in the some places all the time cause of family trips ect i really find the math and seicne of this cool and would also like to see more def subbing
Ehhh, mud slingers are way too knobby for actual rock crawling in my opinion… more for loose dirt and mud. if they break loose whatsoever it makes the car super jumpy and choppy on rocks
if you think the heaviest wheels is a must have then this is a horrible channel and your judgement is shit and everything you say must be questioned. that makes for a useless channel and one i will never watch.
I'm planning on doing that if I ever get back into 10th scale. I am currently re-vamping the test rig because I realized that the testing media introduced variables.
What if you were able to get some flat rocks like some slate or even a paving stone? I think it may make your tests more scientific if the truck was always pulling on a flat plane vs an arched rock.
Great idea. Looking forward to see the results. Just curious, how did you find the rubber compounds of the injora tires? When I look at the website it just says "super soft rubber"
They have a spec section further down the page. To find where that spec sits in the lineup, I found a chart on their Amazon listing of all things. They really could do a better job of things like that.
@@cncrc I did some digging after this and I do see that they list it on a lot of their 1.0 tires but not really on the 1.9 inch ones. Maybe they're starting to make stuff better as they come up with new products.
love it! Amazing testing. I’m addicted. Just getting into the small crawlers and this is sooo helpful. Saves us newbie a ton of money not having to test all the tires. Thanks for your efforts and Info.🎉
Just got into the 1/24 scale! All I can say is I really enjoy it. It all started with my nephew getting a brand new scx24 gladiator for $50! Then my sons poppa bought him a jeep then I bought the bronco, papa brought him and grandma a c10 and deadbolt! Then bro n law bought xc1. Fun little things!! Good hobby to get into
