This is such a sweet video! I've seen the video of Keith and Nicole (karaoke)singing"The Fighter" in their car probably 100 times(it NEVER gets old). I just found this video last week. I love when Keith provides a backstory of a song. Since Keith and Nicole just celebrated their 18th Wedding Anniversary on 6/25/24, I'd say Keith has done an EXCELLENT job of protecting his beloved Nic! We should all be so lucky to be loved the way Keith deeply loves Nicole! Besides being TRUE soulmates, Keith and Nicole have also been blessed with two beautiful daughters. This is who should be singing the vocal tracks for Randy Travis new songs because the bravado is where it needs to be the tone and pitch and for the AI to link up and sync up the way it needs to to sound like Randy it would be perfect You really need to reach out to Randy Travis because I know bless the young guy's heart the one that's helping right now but your voice is more on sync and track and it would make a difference for them so they can get more music out
Randy was kind of on a rollercoaster that was going to see him dead or end up incarcerated. He had multiple DUIs, including one where he threatened the lives of the police trying to apprehend him and then one instance where he took off all his clothing, went into a store demanding cigarettes, realised he had no money to pay for them and left and ended up lying naked in a road when the cops were called a second time (the employee at the store called the police, obviously). He couldn’t shake his alcoholism. So when he experienced a shortness of breath when working out at home, it ended up with him hospitalised and diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy, which is when a viral infection targets the heart, thickening the walls and muscles and affecting the dilation of the valves. This inevitably led to congestive heart failure and a massive stroke. Whilst it’s sad, when he had the stroke, he had only a 1% chance of survival after his lungs collapsed. The treatment to keep him alive also caused issues of their own and as a result of the stroke, he had paralysis on the right side of his body (having experienced his stroke on the left side of his brain, he also underwent two brain surgeries after suffering the stroke!) and he experienced aphasia, which meant he could neither talk nor sing and he also had major vision problems. All of this happened in 2013; the initial stroke and the complications that followed. The woman he was engaged to at the time of his stroke, Mary Davis - who subsequently became his wife two years later - was beyond dedicated to his recovery and care. She pushed him and supported him and because of her, Travis can now walk short distances unaided (although he prefers to use his chair, especially if unsure of the footing or layout of the location, which is fair enough), he sang this song you hear now, has made appearances alongside other singers, and is relearning how to play guitar and how to write. He’ll never be back to “normal” again, but as I said, the one good thing about this is that it means he’s no longer an alcoholic, is not a danger to killing himself or others behind the wheel and his loved ones get to enjoy him sober and have him in their lives. I can’t imagine how strong and supportive his second wife must be. She was engaged to him and from what I’ve read, there was friction regarding the blatant alcoholism and the embarrassment because the body cam footage was released and he had one charge after another. He was on a fast track to losing her. When he fell ill, it was her chance to walk away, guilt free, but instead, she leaned into his care and her love for him and has helped him overcome bleak odds to be with her today ❤
