I just ordered the RSPduo and plan on having it on the main and sub RX out on my 101MP. Did you notice a 3db loss in signal when you started sharing the antenna with the SDR?
I did not notice any loss directly to the radio and through the radio speaker. The RSP is plugged into the computer and the audio and video is from the computer, not the radio. I do see a SLIGHT loss on the waterfall on the monitor from the RSP but very slight sifference.
@@hamradiofrequencies It is my understanding that utilizing the RX out on the radio will be similar to the signal loss you see by using the main and sub receiver on the same antenna. Ends up cutting the signal by 3db since the antenna is being shared. Not a huge deal, but is noticeable if you are looking for it.
I am currently a Newbie to this but am working with pretty much the exact equipment as you are... Your content is helping me on this journey 73's KC3ZDW
Great video! I work on a pc all day, and when I do use my 101D I enjoy using it as a radio should be! That said, this does strike a nice balance between using the radio and for those times you want an additional option… A great video!
When you make a modification like that you never know what you’re gonna get. I have an IC-7100 & have zero issues of it getting to 100w on voice peaks. I tested it before I put it in my vehicle on a dummy load and watt meter. This modification is sure to shorten the life of the radio as well.
This is awesome! I’ve been wanting to make some Dstar contacts since getting my 9700 and so far I only have one via satellite. I knew nothing about the reflectors before your video. Now to get my local dstar repeater on a reflector with some traffic!! 73!! KC0ECQ
73s. Joel/F8MGW
Im using WSJT-x 2.6.1 and ft8 helper 2.5.0 and when i enter your settings into ft8 helper and click "ok" the whole program closes and when i reopen it it does not save anything entered, anyy ideas as to why? Is wsjtx 2.6.1 not supported?
My workplace was throwing one of these kits away in pristine condition. My boss let me take it home instead. Now i just need to buy some batteries to see if all the meters and personal dosimeters still work. They don't look like they've ever been used, and I can't beat free. I have a much more sensitive geiger counter i use for day to day stuff, but i love these old meters.
You must have an older firmware,. My screen is different than yours. I use SCU-20 cacble. When I updated to the latest firmware May of 2024. When holding DX GM and pwr button my FTM-100 goes into PDN mode, and displays, X DIRECT after holding Dx button. It can only access digital rooms. Can you access analog rooms in the NODE mode? After the firmware update that I did, I don't think I could get it out of PDN mode and into NODE mode like your radio display shows.
You should make a visual video like this for the noobie HAMS explaining what orientation are for what frequencies, or how does one know what orientation to use for what circumstance. :) Visual is key. Awesome explanation. ;)
Great video. I see in the 9700 the manual says to program negative tracking for the Japanese Satellite Fuli so-29 I think it is, I looked up your video here after trying to program the ISS into my 9700 because I can't see if its negative or positive tracking. I really have only tried to start into this type of HAM programming today and only ever (for over 20 years) been HF orientated. Now in the 9700 Manual the example given has the Japanese Satellite with negative tracking to program into the 9700, but, I can't see or really even understand what tracking I need to program into the 9700 for the ISS. I was kind of hoping your video might explain something I'm guessing a lot of people already know quite well, but I really don't so I'm asking. Can you please explain this negative and positive tracking thing the 9700 has and why I need to consider it please ?????
What I did was a variation. I took an audio cord and placed one end in the mic hole and the other end in the headset hole and problem solved! Thanks for pointing the way!
Very clear. Thank you. We did find the full UK fm and dv repeaters list in .csv online and managed to convert it into the format that CS9700 likes. It was quite a game. But the club 9700 has its GPS position for the club and does show all repeaters near by. 73 de M0YDH
Translated to English: You can easily communicate with contestants whether they are domestic or overseas, so you can have a lot of fun. The other day, I enjoyed JARL's All-City All-Group Contest. It looks like there will be CQ World wide DX content on the 28th and 29th of this month, so I'm thinking of participating. However, depending on the country, they say things in such a strange way that sometimes I can't understand what they're saying...
@@bobbytowesr3387yeah, we’ve been scared since the 1960s and the threat has (mostly) loomed over us but I think all the worlds leaders know things shouldn’t ever come to that
Thank you very much for doing this video. I coincide with you that it is of questionable ethics to use FT8 in this manner specially to make "points" to gather QSL's. Having said that, it is very useful for data gathering on propagation. We are having an event for a lunar eclipse coming up in our area and I plan to use this robot to transmit and receive for 12 hours to gather the data on how the eclipse affects HF propagation. Thanks again. 73
