Hey man, I just wanted to say fantastic show as always It’s hilarious seeing the damage control that the bots are trying to pull over the whole Bungie and PlayStation situation When, in reality we have now found out that from beginning to end, this was all Bungie‘s fault, and that it was their incompetent CEOs and executives that hurt the business. I hear people say, Sony made a bad choice to buy Bungie. I think people are underestimating Sony here. Sony obviously had the foresight, to write into the purchase contract, if Bungie didn't maintain certain financial obligations, Sony gets the captains chair. It was a win win for Sony. Either Bungie ran a profitable business. Or Somy could do what they are doing now, and not only absorb talent, but create a new studio that IS NOT under the same 3rd party contract as Bungie. They got another first party studio to make exclusives, AND still have Bungie working on destiny and Marathon, even if its a scaled back version. Sony prefers smaller more concentrated teams

Xbox is bringing in billions of revenue and have over 500 millions users who are using other hardware to patronize their gaming platform. How many user do Sony have? Over 16+ million PS5 sold are not turned on, and that is a big loss for Sony. Users of your service is more important than how many console are sold. Apple IPad or phone playing Xbox games is just as important as selling AMD Consoles.
Tango and the lesser Arkane team were closed because they didn't profit on their last 2 to 3 games. Bungie was simply mismanaged by Sony. There's a reason Jimbo hit the eject button and I can't wait to see the reactions when it plays out.

I miss the end of the ps2, and ps3 days. Back then, games released that were great single player games, but they also had multiplayer. COD, Medal of Honor, The Last Of Us, Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, GTA, hell most games that released, had good single player, with interesting multiplayer built in. Ghost of Tsushima reminded me of how much I liked that business model. The single player was excellent, and the multiplayer is fun, engaging, and different. I don't understand how technology is so much more advanced now days, yet we get less game for our money than we did decades ago

Great podcast and I know you peeped the news for VR2 sales. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony doesn't permanently knock $100 off and bring it down to $450 or do another temporary drop in the holiday. It seems like the desire for VR2 was greater than predicted, and I'm very interested in how Sony p pp aggressive with upgrades for PSVR1 games. Especially 1st party ones. As for Concord, them having so much content available in the beta isn't unprecedented. Overwatch's beta originally was basically the entire game. It amassed its fanbase as a $60 multiplayer only title. I think it got greenlit because who pitched it: Firewalks is directed by Ex-Bungie devs. So I imagine they got sold by the gameplay. And production began in 2019, so before Marvel Rivals, before OW went F2P, and before Valorant came over on console. Concord's problem is starting so far behind the competition in terms of IP awareness and loyalty. So imo, blow out with your hooks. That's why I advocated tapping into their assets which is their IP. And by the game setting up Intergalactic, they can easily integrate appropriate guests and maps even to weekly stories. They teased a PVE mode. And by having 100s of cosmetics, they could lean into their IP for that as well. Also a VR2 option could be huge. It's up to Sony how they proceed, because I personally think they should delay until the beginning of next year. As for pricing and risks, we have $40-$70 games, I think that potentially opens the door to risky projects. That's why I'm hoping Astrobot and Lego Horizon does incredible in sales. Honestly I think Western 3rd party is done and it's going to be down to Japanese Devs and Indies. I think Socom is likely coming down the line. Especially since Horizon gave them 3rd person experience and there is R6 Siege heading development allegedly. It's a shame that Twisted Metal apparently got axed. It sucks if true because vehicle arena games are extinct. I think a lot of publishers are too obsessed with the money drip of Live Service games, especially F2P live services. Since they require very small investment into their tails for strong return. Just need them to let it go 😊

Great show and rant Jez, yes gaming has stopped being fun and these companies need to get back to being about fun. After getting the plats in Dave the Diver and Stellar Blade (both great games btw) I found myself going to the PS4/5 version of Jeanne D’Arc because I loved that game on the PSP. I’m out here grinding getting their lvls up to beat the final boss lol. Gaming just needs to be fun again
I’ve never owned an Xbox. I thought the conversation was interesting. I was surprised by the number of rrod they got and how fast it happened. I knew it was a big problem at the time, but I didn’t realize it was that bad.
@@aaronwalsh8469 I never had an Xbox until I got the series s for $150. I had friends that got RROD 3-5 times. I knew it was a shit show. I’ve never been on the 360 store. So most of this podcast was a skip for me.
The cause of the RROD is called Bumpgate Due to its time, the low TG Underfill from the 360 did cause the majority of the RROD, because the Underfill is made of Lead Free Solder balls which lacks the elasticity of a Lead Solder balls. when the Chip heats up, it kinda bends the board cuz of the pressure from the heat, and when it happens it causes the Solder balls to crack and disconnects the board to the interposer which lead to the RROD or a GPU Failure. around that time most companies (because of some law that was passed) was using Lead Free Solder balls, including Sony, however Sony's build quality was higher so there are some PS3's (especially the Model A to C) fail but not that much. To be specific tho it was either the cracked solder balls, or the NEC Tokin Chips that causes the YLOD. what I am getting at is MSFT literally wanted to be the first in the next gen picture, however with the detrimental cost of rushing development of the 360's to be in storeshelves, they didnt even got their Silicon till February 2005 when in November was suppose to be their release time, MSFT did a gamble and it slightly worked however they knew that the % of failed 360s is so high but they still went ahead of it, basically giving everyone the middle finger for their foolish ambition. Not surprising considering that Early Xbox 360 adopters are indeed the beta testers. also alot of "Fixes" showed up when the RROD happened, like covering it with towels, installing more fans and the famous bolt mod that apparently damages the board more cuz it bents the board even more. which was a temporary fix but it would RROD again cuz of the added pressure from the bolts, with that said, it took 2 ish years of research to be proven that Lead Free were pieces of crap and by the time 360 Slim came there were no RROD's happening and rather some general stuff, I cant find anything online on what the 360 Slim's Underfill is made of but they found a fix for the RROD problem. but yeah the trust has already been broken and this was the beginning of the end Xbox...... Sorry for the long Comment but yeah thats how the RROD started
Awesome 👍 Many people forget about the lead free solder and how that was a big problem. Also PS3 with its chips in the early PS3s was a issue, but that often took a year or two before it showed up.
Now was the lead free solder the root cause or was it inefficient cooling? Me and my bro had a launch ps3. It got the YLOD after like 4 years. Which sucked because later on the fat ps3 was selling used at a premium because it had all those features that were later removed. Ps2 chip and memory card reader. That thing ran hot.
@aaronwalsh8469 I remember reading somewhere that the fat PS3 issue was more due to capacitor chips failure over time. I had two original PS3 60gigs ylod on me. Yet my PS3 slim still runs great and the only thing I had to replace on it was the blue ray lens.

It's fiction, therefore why the need to make them unappealing? There's too many hero arena shooter to compete, so making them unappealing is an easy filter for whales & casual alike, also for content farmers to make video.
