In regard to your opening question: I searched for videos about digging out a crawl space lol. We're wanting to make our 14-18" deep crawl space about a foot deeper and need a little bit of know-how on the DIY aspect of it. So far yours has been the best video I've seen that wasn't just an ad for a contracting company. Then I saw there was a part two and decided that'd also be a good watch.
Lol yeah, definitely not a company looking to be hired to do this. If I was going a foot deeper, I'd just be laying on my belly with a hand shovel and a sheet of plywood and a rope, pull it to where I can stand up and shovel that in buckets, or just go straight into a bucket.idk. thanks for the comments anyways.
"let me know what you're looking for" Easy, a decent estimate of how stupid of an idea it'll be for me to try the same with my place/ how to actually go about it.
That's also easy, it's very stupid. I haven't done much since pt 3 because my wrists were really hurting. Like carpal tunnel stuff happening. I'm sort of on the lookout for a budget machine to take over.
its for sure a fun project that you can go crazy with, because whats the worst thing thats going to happen? you mess up a $500 project? seems pretty low on concern list when were talking about messing around in the garage with buddies.
I’m about to do this this after noon wish me luck. Thanks for backwood customs I have the knowledge to even attempt this. Just finished the job took an hour luckily the cv axle came out with a pry bar and couple taps. Thanks for the how to
"Snug 'er down to the spec that somebody probably knows" So funny. Sounds like me. "Probably shouldn't be doing this...just little love taps." "Put some more grease on it to make you feel better about it." "Spray the brake cleaner in there like somebody else is paying for it." So many classic one liners.
You could raise the house with lots of hydraulic jacks and lots of tele-post jacks you are currently using. You wont need to dig so deep and have a new perimeter foundation wall to set house on. By the way, what is high water line of creek behind this house?
yeah but then i have to buy a bunch of jacks would be best if they were all in series instead of going around and jacking all 2 pumps and wiggle the house up instead of one solid lift, Also im not sure how the house would handle that, looking at the floor joist and the ceiling rafters, there is no rhyme nor reason to how they laid them. high line by the creek is somewhere around the willow tree. if the creek gets to the house, theres a whole town that will be under water before i get my toes wet.
Destroying them?? The first one was sold for $20 at an auction. Because no one wanted it. This one was laying on its side behind a shed covered with plywood. Id argue I'm saving them. Giving them a new life. Otherwise both of these would have been your next beer can.
@@backwoodscustoms Installed mine today. They do recline and drop, but I didn't ride yet. Those long shoulder bolts go in one of holes beside the Racewill logo. One bolt on each side of the logo. It takes some of the play out of the base but also makes it a little harder to install the seat. Guess I won't be carrying the handsaw behind my seat anymore, or spare belt, .... anything 😊
I’m considering digging out my crawl space to make a basement. I’m sure I’ll have water issues so that’s a big deterrent. I think you’re doing great, especially since you have young children! I’d love to see a time lapse. Keep going brother. It looks great so far.
Ive been waiting for someone to ask..... And believe me I'm more upset about than anyone. I filmed the entirety of the build on one SD card. It corrupted. Lost hundreds of hours Of raw footage. I can send you some pictures of my test pieces and measurements but I don't have any footage of the build. The outside of the completed scampers makes a short appearance in the very beginning of how to dig out your crawl space part 2.
@@backwoodscustoms that would be great or just do a video and explain what was done. I have the same camper and I got a killer deal on it because the back of the roof was damaged. I need to pull it off and re do it. Trying to keep the roof metal usable if possible.
I got here searching for any ideas pertaining to increasing the headroom in my 1915 construction basement. I didn't expect to find anything...But here i am.
According to the deed this place is 1905 but I'm betting that the layer of ash is that 1905 house. Why they didn't did it out before they rebuilt I will never understand.
haha i was watching vids of people changing the foundation on their houses. very interesting how they just built the home on top of an old one though. good luck!
Hey man. Love all your videos. Hers the update. I put in this machine all balls racing cv axles. They are 8 ball Heavy duty and to my surprise no issues. So my issue was very cheap Caltric Cv axles that are just junk outta the box. Thanks for all your help. Happy riding!
Is it possible that the binding and it feeling like it’s in the cv shafts that it could be the shaft that goes from side of case to front did that fetching? I got shafts coming this Friday from Wild Boar. 8 ball bearings too not 6. Paid good money. Hope it works. I’ll keep ya posted.
I started watching by accident as I was reviewing other crawlspace encapsulation videos. Then I saw how crazy a thing u you were doing and decided to watch and floow ur efforts!!
Northwest Wisconsin here. I have the same itch, turn our crawl space into a basement. Just wondering if I was crazy but it looks like we're all kind of like minded DIYer's who don't have the money for a company to do it for us. My problem is neighbors, building inspectors and permits. Honestly can't even build a woodshed without a permit here in Sawyer county. A lot of people say that's a good thing, for me it's a choke hold.
You ask what we are searching for, well in my case, I need to reinforce my floor joists, and the plan is to dig down 42 inches to pour concrete footings and a regular shovel will not cut it. So I’m looking for ideas on how to dig down 42 inches while laying on my side or stomach.
Hahahahaha. It worked anyway. I did end up redoing the rear half off camera a little better. Also if you think that's bad, you should see the 94 I just picked up, 5x the wiring.lol
There is not a lot of gl1500 customs out there at all if any and no bobbers. I have a 94 gl1500 aspencade and it's completely stock with 17000 miles I'd hate to tear into mine like this but I'd love to grab another and do that! Definitely going to be following the progress on this!
I see why now, that's for sure. The frame is UGLY and awkward. Been a little sidetracked with getting stuff cleaned up and with spring here, but hope to get into the project soon here.
Krylon fusion red pepper. 0 stars would not recommend though. I will never be using krylon spray paint again. I had to re paint the fender 4 times and tank 5 times from the paint lifting or curling. Contacted krylon and short story, is they said do not re coat or top coat anything with their paint. Do not use their clear over other krylon paint. That sucks for you that you had problems. Bye. So be prepared for issues if you use their products.
Good luck to you man, this is the hardest job. I lucked out with my house, it only needs digging out by maybe 5’ tops, but it’s still going to be a lot of work. I’m renting a mini excavator. You need a bunch of concrete blocks on hand to support beams and such when you get the rock loose
So I’m yanking outward on the CV like you were and several others I’ve seen. Just to get room to replace upper A-arm grommets. Same left side with no brake. Instead of the axle coming out of the diff, something popped loose inside the diff-end boot. So pulling now just stretches that boot, feels no longer attached to the axle it seems. Is my CV toast now? Need to replace the whole CV assembly too?
Yeah, that cv was junk, they shouldn't come apart unless they're already on the way out. The balls have some detention grooves and they get wore out, and come apart.
