I upload any intros (only intros) I can find shown on the TCM channel. No profit is gained, just my love and admiration of the TCM network. I don't like the idea of these wonderful intros fading into oblivion.

this film needs to be coupled with "Ladies Who Do". A B+W low budget English from the same time starring Robert Morley and Peggy Mount. Small theaters just gave up trying to compete with the Gigantic Hollywood "Spectaculars" of the same period so they stated to import. Both of these are free on RU-vid if you search. These films were followed with great films like, "The Lady Killers" "The Purple Gang" and of course, "Carry on Nurse".

Seeing Terence Stamp's brilliant portrayal of Billy BUdd, I can see how this could have happened. He was just too beautiful to live. You know evil will find him. The background explains so much of the officer's fears.

Absolutely lovely film. Brenda equals brilliant work from my 2 favourite English actors. Not sure modern audiences could stand such long scenes in a filmed play but David Lean has incredible images to add in. Lean made world class smaller movies before all the epics and I love Ryan’s Daughter too.

On the morning of October 1, 1973, my first day at Paramount Studios, I walked onto that stage where they had filmed that special the night before! Gene's and Frank's DNA was probably still in the air! The stage was dressed like a nightclub....one that had been emptied and closed for the night, without clean-up! What a memory...and it will be in My Book about my years in The Biz! :)

Only speculation Warner's suggested Al Jolson make a movie with Ruby Keeler to help himself, and no need to warn that Al Blacks up in some scenes. That is only trying to stop people watching the movie!

A Chandler narrative on the East Coast? Blasphemy! A travesty! Poopiedust! George Sanders rendition of “Jolly good fellow betrays his British origins. The last line is different over there. At least he’s got class and style…. “If you covered him with garbage, George Sanders would still have style…” Ray Davies, The Kinks, 1970

Much of what is said in this intro is very true. Will Rogers was wildly popular. Imagine three JFKs dying at once, and that should give you some idea of what a big deal it was when he died. Even blue collar workers broke down at their machines and started crying when they heard the news of his death. Amazing that now people drive down Will Rogers Hwy, Will Rogers Blvd., and even Will Rogers Street. Their are schools and buildings named after him all over the U S, there is a beach named after him in California. And yet, people in general aren't even aware of who he is anymore. Amazing what time can do.

This is one of my top 3 favorite films. I know it backwards and forwards, yet love it every time I see it. Tony Perkins and Stephen Sondheim were both puzzle buffs, which is why the story is so delightfully complex with lots of red herrings. I wish more people knew about this movie. Also the scenery in France is gorgeous and Bette Midler's "Friends" is the theme song. 4 stars!!

If memory serves, A Hard Day's Night was comprised of all original compositions. Something unheard of for a pop act at that time.

I like Ben & TCM a lot, but not one word about the source material, a classic suspense novel entitled Black Alibi by legendary crime/suspense novelist Cornell Woolrich? Pathetic.

I hope COTD is never remade in colour, and also the actors in COTD are awesome the mutant children are very creepy and their telepathic powers are awesome they never smile and when Paul speaks he sounds cold like and android.

COTD was an awesome film in billions of ways, and IMO better than VOTD and both films been in black and white are more scary than been in colour. I do wonder what became of Clive Powell who played Paul the leader of the mutant children in this film and I also wonder what he and the other actors who played the mutant children look like today.

Anyone who changes their birth name, other than when getting married, is ashamed of their Father. Giving up one's heritage for the shallowness & greed of 'Hollywood' shows a lack of character with a desire to obtain perceived greater recognition & monetary gain. If everyone would just roll up their sleeves and get a REAL job, everyone's lives would be much easier. For example in this movie alone, 14 out of the 44 main characters sold-out their names to deceitful agents, managers, or studios: So-called "Kirk Douglas" was born Issur Danielovitch. So-called "Gloria Grahame" was born Gloria Grahame Hallward. So-called"Elaine Stewart" was born Elsy Henrietta Maria Steinberg. There wasn't anything wrong with her birth name, other than being one too many names. So-called"Gilbert Roland" was born Luis Antonio Dámaso de Alonso. There wasn't anything wrong with his name, other than being too long & having a lower case letter. So-called "Barbara Billingsley" was born Barbara Lillian Combes. So-called "Paul Stewart" was born Paul Sternberg. So+called "Vanessa Brown" was born Smells Brind. So-called "Stanley Andrews" was born Stanley Martin Andrzejewski. So-called "Steve Forrest" was born William Forrest Andrews. So-called "Kaaren Verne" was born Ingeborg Greta Katerina Marie-Rose. There was nothing wrong with her name, other than being too long & jdcing an unecessary hyphen. So-called "Dorothy Patrick" was born Dorothea Davis. So-called "Louis Calhern" was born Carl Henry Vogt. So-called "Sammy White" was born Samuel Kwait. So-called "Franklyn Farnum" was born William Smith.
