I have and love an F3, and a 500CM, both lovely cameras. But I still have a big spot in my list for the Pentax MX, which I bought new in 1977. A simple, very small but with a great viewfinder with all the info. I must include in my list though a Pentax 645N, a very progressive medium format SLR, with great usability, very affordable great lenses. Hey your list is yours, but this and the Mamiya 645 deserve some attention too. Great fun! Keep up the good work. Not I need to go back to see your rangefinder list.
The original Rollei 35 desperately needed AF (I got rid of mine because I wasn't a good enough guesser) so I hope this badge-engineered follow-up works!
Over the years you have helped me find some of the film cameras I cherish. I preordered your book as soon as I found out about it. It will be released here in the US on Amazon on November 12th. Can't wait!
I bought one last week. The Fm2n has been my trusted camera for more than 2 years and I thought nothing could be better. I tried the Fm3a and it blew my mind. It is really really good. My old Fm2n is a beat up black brassy well used favourite of mine until I get this near mint darling. My worry is that how I could find time to give some love to my old sweet heart.
Btw, i stumbled upon your Tokyo camera shop guide (East and west), but updated for 2022. You still stand by those guides now in 2024, or you would you say the vintage camera landscape has changed a bit since then?
The rollout of this camera in Europe is an absolute omnishambles. Europeans, other than Germans, Austrians and Swiss cannot pre-order the camera. They won't ship to the UK. What absolute garbage. I woke up excited to purchase this morning and will now not purchase it ever.
I am getting one now! But you should check out the Fuji GX 680 III Professional, the largest and most advanced medium-format (studio) camera ever built. It weighs a ton and has more features, like all movements (bellows, tilt, swing, rise, shift) and fully electronic. But I had no idea this camera existed! Thanks for the video. I am off to eBay to get one right now.
@@japancamerahunterI fantasize with an Abrahamsson Rapidwinder, but besides being very expensive I’m convinced I’ll end up stabbing myself with it in no time. 😅 Cheers hermano!
I just saw your article on the Canon 800mm 3.8 and the Zeiss Mirotar 1000mm 5.6, there was more than 23 of that Lens, in the 1970´s you could get it for Contax 35mm SLR Cameras and for Hasselblad 6x6 Cameras, but as well adapted for other Cameras. I think it was in a Hasselblad catalogue from 1978.
Of the Tochigi Nikkor? No, you couldn't. It was based on the 300mm f2, which you could get, but this particular version is a 300mm T2.2 and was only made in one batch.
New F-1 !!! I have had two Nikon F3 cameras and two Canon New F-1, I still have one F-1 in near mint condition, the F-1 is the best ever made analogue 35mm SLR Camera !
Canon made rangefinders with trigger wind. Specifically, the V-T and VI-T (T for trigger). They’re very nice Leica thread mount cameras, and can be found for a couple hundred dollars.
