I had forgotten I use too pick Lee up pretty high. He smiled bigger then bear all the time win use.too. That's what made me so tired at the basketball court.
Hey Frank! Similar situation we're dealing with. We discovered an old septic tank in our backyard after a rainstorm and it's huge. Probably 10 feet deep. An engineer suggested filling it up with 1 sack slurry and leave 2 feet for soil.. but not a single company is able to pump a 1 sack slurry for some reason and no mixer truck would fit through our gate. So now I'm researching if I could just fill it up with gravel. I'm not an expert but wondering if water will drain out with no issues? Thanks for the video.
Hi!, He wants to fill it with slurry I assume to avoid a large wet spot it the yard due to the tank holding water. Or maybe he thinks a sink hole? I think because of age you would have to drill holes in the sides to let the water escape because it's so old, I would speculate it is cracked anyway. I would first suggest don't get in there to investigate, it could collapse. Also put something up to keep anyone from falling in. We always use 3/4 gravel. You could have it dumped outside the gate and hand fill. If there is a construction site close, you could ask them for any leftover broken concrete block and bricks and fill it over time. I have also seen them filled with junk dirt ( clay mixed with rock, dirt you would remove so you could place topsoil down) In short fill it with anything non organic topped off with topsoil. As it naturally compacts over time just add a little more topsoil. Please update and let me know how it works out. Have a great day!
Sounds like it. I put the camera away from everyone so I would just hear nature. The echoes came up the ravine unexpected. The sound I can't explain is the rushing sound when it went dark. There was no wind.
Yes it does. What amazes me, is I have a construction attorney in my pocket. I also work as an expert witness in court cases. 9 out of 10 clients are embarrassed and will not pursue them legally to get their money back
This happened to me with a cistern in a house built in the late 1700s. After a hurricane, the dog just disappeared in the yard. I went to look for her, and fell into a small hole. Turns out the cistern had not been capped properly; the dog was under the house and I was up to my chest in the ground. We both made it out and the cistern was capped.
I've done most of my own work for decades. My own home, and a lot of flips. Now I'm older and just can't/won't do it anymore so I interview "contractors" to do work. Most of them are clueless. If you find one that knows what they're doing, hold onto them like grim death.
You have to go beyond that. I have personally seen documents that were counterfeit. You have to check with your local government, ask to talk to previous clients and personally see some of their past work. Due diligence is an absolute
I hear you loud and clear! They're getting a lot better. They removed that old ugly track on the bottom and as long as we pitched the curb they seem to be working fairly well. Of course check back in 5 years from now and let's see how it does
These videos are pretty important for new home owners, especially. Most home buyers assume too much. They assume builders and contractors know what they're doing. Prospective buyers are too lazy to perform their due diligence. And, of course, sometimes the official home inspectors are also too lazy and too ignorant to perform their job properly.
I have had meetings with the city, I believe that tile work should be inspected. Like doctors, contractors come with a reasonable expectations of trust. Unfortunately, this is quite common with limited recourse.
@@MrBigHoss this is Nashville Tennessee. No, we use a combination of old technology and new technology building a four layered redundant system . We guarantee the showers for Life providing the house does not move.
Wait a second! You talk and point but you did not show us jack! Stairs have a solid state code! Adjustments can always be made at the landings! Your novice video should have started from the bottom of the staircase like an inspector!
I'm sorry, Jack had the day off.😂 I did start at the bottom of the stairs. Thank you for your input, noted. Clearly I'm a novice at making videos, otherwise I would be mic'd up and someone else would have a hold of the camera.
As soon as I saw this video I knew this was a slumlord speaking!! Then I clicked on his profile to see what other videos were on his channel as proof of pos slumlord! Yup! All the evidence is there that prove truth! What slumlords do to get contractors to work for free is gripe and complain about work that gets done. Most slumlords don't even have money to pay a contractor AND they never plan to pay from the start. Literally they praise themselves for being smart and getting free work from contractors. There is probably another side to all this guys videos!
The sliding door is inside out. Look at how the spray will just go between the 2 panes. Her trick of entering by the toilet lets the doors be opposite ends in use, but it is odd and you usually set the temp before entering
There's no excuse for this. Too bad she can't make a "malpractice" claim against the contractor. If you don't know what you're doing, spend a little extra and use a Kerdi system. I'm learned how for just my shower and ripped out my old shower almost 10 years ago and did it Schluter's way, used the Kerdi sheets (before Kerdi board) and a "perfect" shower was easy.
The powers-that-be are way too gentle on illegal contractors. I take over probably six of these a year. I am licensed and bonded, which means if I make a really bad mistake and and won't come out and repair it, she can call the city and they will pay her out of my bond, and I can't pull permits until I replace the money in the bond. An illegal contractor, nothing
do you really think Home Depot would be carrying a product that has a high risk of failure for decades if it didn't work? Human error =/= product failure.
it does appear the hurricane clips were installed over the dormer windows. Doh! Second avoid using Flex for HVAC: I can already see a few pinch points that is going to restrict flow, and Flex always fails, at best a Flex Mfg. will only offer a 10 year warranty. When it fails the fiberglass is exposed and its not health to breath in fiberglass particles.
I put hurricane clips at all points. I have personal experience seeing those work from a tornado. As far as the flex, noted, but this is industry standard here and will stay. Using the foam and the system you see, one of my rental properties (1100 square feet) had a 326 dollar electric bill while this house (6000 under ac) had a electric bill of 350 dollars.
@@Frank_the_contractor $350 Per month or per year? I suspect per month. Mine is about $150/mo, 6600 sq ft of conditioned space. 2x6 24" OC with Roxul, & 2" exterior Rigid foam, SIP Roof. AC system consists of two ducted mini-splits (one for each floor). For Duct work I use Kool-Duct & PVC & some metal ductwork. I don't like spray foam since either its a sponge (open cell) or rock hard (closed cell). The close cell is a nightmare if you ever need to do maintenance epair. and the open cell is a mold nightmare. With the Roxul you can just pull it out of the area needing repair, It does not hold water and does not outgas toxic fumes in a fire like sprayfoam does.
All of that tile was poorly set. The grout wasn’t done right either, looks like they let it sit too long on the curb at least, and or didn’t wipe it but one time.
I had a contractor put tile on drywall and even left drywall exposed on the entry. Didn't even survive one shower and he spent 6 months on the job. Everything was wrong... everything.
@@IliadDreyfus-js9oe Unfortunately Missouri has a "Right to Cure" law before I can fire a contractor that has taken a lien out on my house. Would be nice if I lived in a world without laws overwhelmingly protecting businesses instead of consumers.
You can't reuse the door it's missing parts, you might have missed this the gap under the sliding door there should be a metal water stop that came with the unit. If you reuse it it will be this video in the next issue of CONTRACTOR FAILS.
