They must not have ridden other ebikes. It's not bad at all. I would say the volume of the motor is typical. Nothing out of the ordinary but definitely there's a sound vs a standard bike.
I didn’t bother watching it completely because it was long and typical The BEST accessory for riding at 15 mph and above is ear muffs to lower the wind noise, I use the style that wraps behind my neck Even in Phoenix in the summer, it’s not too hot and it keeps my ear bud from falling out
For city riding though, I'm going to want to hear what's going on. Yeah, the video indeed is quite long. Lots to cover. Some great deals. Not sure about typical though. I haven't seen anyone cover an analog clock as a bike accessory.
@@Funcentric I use a lightweight fabric behind the neck cloth ear miffs that don’t block hardly any sound, but the decrease of the wind noise makes it more comfortable and easier to hear traffic
You never get to know a bike until you have had it for an extended ride. Somewhere between a week end or a weeks worth of evaluation. I bought a different brand of cargo bike but was fortunate to hire one for a month before purchasing one. There was excitement initially but after a few days there was the little nit picks that would end up being an annoyance or expensive to change. After hiring one I knew what I wanted in a cargo bike and looked around until something close fitted the bill even if there needed a few personal modifications.
I got mine from Temu. Strapped them on my helmet and they work great. The distance kind of sucks though so IDK how people put it so far on the rear of their bike. IDK if the range of the signal depends on the charge or if the range is better depending if you get it on amazon, aliexpress, or temu
The range should all be the same. Amazon resellers just source it from aliexpress. They don’t even bother to change the photos. Aliexpress by the way is way better than Temu. More products, prices are better, and sellers compete for your business with pricing and customer service to get high ratings. Meanwhile, Temu is just one seller - Temu. Aliexpress platform is also much better..
Just wanted to thank you for a wonderful well thought through video. The accessories are great & letting us know the cost & location to find them is super cool. You really covered everything I will need for an ebikes or e scooter. Thank you so much for your help & time, I really appreciate it so I will pass this on in good faith as a 1 stop well detailed E vehicle accessories stop. Looking forward to more videos from you 😊
Wow, thanks so much for the kind words. I really appreciate that. I’m hoping to make a similar video but for night time riding accessories. I do a fair bit of that.
Of course. Yeah because rarely does someone ever really replace a primary car with a bicycle. If it happens, it’s usually in place of a secondary vehicle. I’m speaking to most people’s situation of course - not everyone. I’m sure there’s a couple people out there who decide a bicycle is sufficient over a car for 100% of their needs. It’s no secret that in some cities like NY or HK, most people don’t even own a car.
@@Funcentric all important things to keep in mind for sure. not everyone has the option to not have a car, I just like to leave snarky comments sometimes-- I understand it's impossible for some ppl to be without cars-- I'm just a vocal minority ignore me and thank you for the videos :)
Is a 1000mAh too big for a brushless? I bought two spares and a different charger for the brushed version and I think I can switch them out, but I’m not completely sure. Sorry I’m super new to this stuff. I appreciate your video. Great video!
No problem. I have another video that talks about how to determine what battery to get based on your car. The mah rating is basically how big the gas tank is. It can be as big as you want. The limit is that bigger ones will be heavier and less efficient at some point. The voltage absolutely needs to match. This is a 2S battery, meaning two cells in series. So 3.7x2 = 7.4 volts. As long as your battery is 2S, it’ll work. Any mah. 1000mah based in the size of the car is a good size. Will give you more run time than 750mah for instance. A 2000mah one won’t damage anything but would probably be too big to physically fit in the car and would be too heavy. The bigger the battery, the less efficient at some point.
Juiced Rip Racer, 52v bike from an American company celebrating their 15 year anniversary. Great deal even at the $1,300 price but discounts have gotten down to $900-1,100 before.
@@kumbaga not sure about the 5’ part but the weight is totally fine. For your height, I’d recommend a step through style frame though. Something like an Aventon Sinch 2. A lot of people looking at e-bikes I feel ought to do better on a stand up scooter. Maybe consider that. Cheaper, easier to store and transport, and these days they can climb hills decently from what I hear. Look for a 48v one for hills.
I have a internal seat post cable that prevents theft using a star nut in the base of the seat post, a eye bolt & lock nut, piece of brake or gear cable and a block of Delrin plastic locked with a security bolt on a water bottle mount and a washer on the lower end of the cable below the Delrin block. I bought one at LL Bean (Made in Maine) and never saw any more anywhere else!
mine has decent signal when its fully charged, sometimes throttle will bleep a little. But when its almost dead it gets to where it wont go, unless i walk up to it. But i can steer it still from a long way away. Would seem like no signal and it wouldnt steer. Any thoughts?
You shouldn’t run it that far down. You never want to run the battery dry. After awhile, you’ll get the hang of how it should feel and when the it starts to lose power, you’re likely at storage charge or 3.80v per cell. It’s okay to run it maybe another 3 minutes after that but I wouldn’t go much further before letting it cool before recharging.
Thanks for this. How often can one charge old pattery this way .... I assume that there must be a limit on that. Do you know? Doing it this way you do not need to "register" the new battery.
Correct. Technically you don’t need to register and I’m told it’ll still work. I did pay the $30 USD for the app to register though. Part 2 of this video series is the diy following along video. This one here is just an overview. Much more detail in the second part which includes everything.
Going to be getting the 2014 i3 very soon here for my next car most likely but I'm not sure if you would recommend a full electric or a hybrid? I am in SoCal so I do bit of distance driving a few times a month, what do you think? I can be fine doing either or yes?
Don’t get a 2014. Beat value is 2019 or 2020. 2018 at the oldest. 2014 is way too old. Not all those even have level 3 charging. You’ll need a REX for sure. Also there are rumors that public charging at some of the companies no longer support i3’s. Look into it in the Facebook groups. It may save you $8k.
@@Funcentric I can only afford something that is a 2014 - 2016 really but if it's not option able then I will look into a 2018, if i3 is no longer being supported then I will look into other compact electric cars. Thank you for the heads up!
@@AnotherOpinion695 I would recvommend another car entirely. A 2016 was great in 2018 and a 2018 even better in 2020, but now, it's getting obsolete. Too many risks with high mileage ones and your warrenty is all over.
I really appreciate your long term view on these vehicles. If I had seen this video earlier, I would have been better prepared for my Granite BLX's issues. Most folks only look at the short-term because they're trying to sell you the truck with an affiliate link. Mad props to you for taking the effort to do a proper long view. 👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you for saving me money by not buying this radio. I'll buy an ELRS module for my comfortable Tango 2 instead. Years, later, I'm still trying to find a justifiable reason to replace my Tango 2
Appreciate it! Little nigglies really are the domain of the engineer (usually one) to shine the love to resolve. There's no reason why there shouldn't be a few extra mount points and all possible configurations pre-thunk. Yes, I said thunk. One thing I would like to see - no, two actually but they're a system, is a tail stand and a wheel lock. The wheel lock keeps the bars from turning, and by holding the right brake lever (rear wheel) you can then pull the bike upright and walk it through tight spots, and leave it in that upright position. I made my own, but mine leaves the wheel in contact with the ground, and if I build one for the next bike, it will get the wheel off the ground. These accessories are expensive but very well made. I also like the fall protection you get like with crash bars on a motorcycle. Thanks!
This isn’t specifically about any ebike in particular. This isn’t a sponsored video nor a monetized channel. You can look them up yourself. Lectric XPedition, Aventon Abound, Heybike Haul, etc to name a few. Just stay away from Radpower Radwagon, particularly the older ones.
love the video i ordered the lectric cargo bike last week and it's shipping in July so I'm looking for accessories that might help me before i get it so thank you.
Cool! Yeah I get too excited and also can’t help buying accessories for something before the main thing even arrived. I’ve been doing that for a new electric skateboard. Can’t wait to ride it. Glad my accessories video helped. I’m planning on making a night time accessories video too.
@@Funcentric oh yes I get it cause I wanna be 100% ready for that and that’s awesome also I’ll be keep in an eye for that night accessories video just so I know if I’m out away from home far enough and get caught as the sun goes down I’ll be as safe as possible. Thank you
You can also look up videos that aren’t specific to e-bikes. Park Tool has some good diy how-to videos. Be sure to take plenty of photos along the way, don’t lose any hardware and you’ll be fine.
Depends on the bike. All the spec sheet will tell you the weight. Either way, any bike weighing more than 27lbs or so will require a hitch rack to transport the bike on a car.
Totally disagree with everything in this video, I have it and it's a great bike. Easy comfortable ride, I had 2 kids in the back and if you know how to ride a bike it's easy. What this bike says it's for, is exactly what it does and this guy obviously has a separate issue with Lectric. Stop the BS homie.
These aren’t opinions I’m sharing. There’s nothing to disagree with. You can argue with facts until you are blue in the face. Good luck and don’t hurt yourself. I don’t have issues with Lectric at all. There are just a lot of things people need to know before buying one so there aren’t any surprises. Glad you got what you expected. Haha.
@@Funcentric Sorry Jackass, they do put hills in the test videos I watched them and have no problem getting up them. I've seen plenty of videos with cargo and carried my own, guess what no problem hauling at all. I went on rides with two 7 year old's in the back and had my wife ride in the back, again no problem at all. Look up the specs they are spot on with the ranges it gives. The seat is comfy and the perfect size for a comfortable ride and fits fine with all attachment's. The seat cushions go on easy and my 7 year old could figure it out sorry it took you all night LOL. There's plenty more but I'm bored already with this and you, glad you didn't get what you expected HAHA. Take care Jackass.
Banggood are a joke . Ive been waiting 2 months for them to honor their warranty. $250 Item sent broken . They offer me $50 to shutup . 2 months later they send me a part to solder in this broken drone . Who solders it in ? Ffs . Absolute joke rude pathetic joke bangood . Free loan hahaha. They wont get a cent off me ever again . K you Banggood.
Correct. Only Banggood and Temu pay RU-vidrs to market their stuff. Aliexpress does no such thing and we benefit from the competition of various sellers within the aliexpress platform. If you can wait 2 weeks, I’d recommend buying straight from the source as opposed to buying from Amazon resellers who don’t even bother to take a second to retake their own product photos. They literally just copy and paste with zero effort. A little sad.
Im literally going to get one here soon been planning to awhile, well actually two one for a build mostly for myself miss building and Redline is LITERALLY the best in BMX and another one right out the box mostly for my little brother who i as the 33 year old am just now getting him for his first time into BMX at 18 especially since I'm as of recently getting back into. Lol Yeah the geometry and forward facing head stem is a better set up than the Random especially for us 6'1" and up riders. Put some Eastern Curb Monkeys 2.4" in it you'll be able to street and absolutely beast on trail and dirt. Oh and a set of Tioga FS 100s 2.3-.4"s if they are still available in 20"(ex pro tip [for BMX & downhill MTB] always have at least two different tire types for whatever you want to get into as it will unlock more than you ever expected and increase all elements of control on whatever surface so increase safety and a solid ultra soft "grippy" set of handgrips keep your factories as back up. Amazing grips will hugely increase confidence and finesse as well as overall control and just make you feel great youll know when you try. Best I've ever felt and crazy long last and always sticky with 0 residue is Oury V2s and thats BMX and MTB. They have a locking and regular version. Both the grips and tires are not alot of money at all very reasonable and even for pros last a crazy long time and make a huge difference while being SOOO easy to swap grips only once and tires especially on 20" are super easy and quick and can be done on trail, track, or park especially since we're talking wireless foldables which can be in you pack/backpack taking up no more space than two three pairs of tube socks lol h and easily filled with handpump ) Love to see you having some fun with it though kimosabi! Much love though
True, but personally I would just take the car at that point. Storage of a trailer when not in use which will be 99% of the time isn’t something I’d want to deal with.
@@Funcentric Have you checked out the trailers from Burley such as the Travoy or Flatbed? They're super easy to use, fold up, and stow away. The Travoy is especially popular for grocery runs given it doubles as a handcart.
Awesome! But I wasn’t wrong at the time. See the date of when this video was uploaded. Aliexpress is constantly updating and changing things. You’ll enjoy the turn signals. Ride safe.
Is there a standard way to set up an ebike with multiple motors and batteries? I would ideally like to build a trike with a direct drive front hub motor and a mid drive motor to power the rear. I would be using this to tow various trailers. Trailer, corgo, bike, and operator will weigh a minimum of 650 lbs, but I would prefer to be able to move more like 900+ lbs. Could it also work to just use a switch to power one motor at a time.
If range and load capacity is not a huge deal, I would recommend the Aventon Abound as I always have. It caps off at level two meaning it does not go faster than 28 miles an hour which I feel is more than adequate for most people. That is also the legal limit. Most people like the torque sensor that it has, but I do prefer the cadence sensor of the XPedition. When doing research, you will always find people saying that torque sensor is superior to cadence sensor, but it is really a matter of preference. They operate very differently.
is it possible to remove the sound? also you say the charging is for about 2 hours? But you use them lights on always? I want to use then only to indicate the direction
