Hello. I'm Ricardo (Ric) and this will be my place to upload clips to help me record (and help me to remember) what work I have done on my bike which is now the latest KTM 1290 Super Adventure R (2023). If watching any of my short clips helps others that’s an additional bonus. And I welcome any suggestions for video ideas! We are all one biking brother/sisterhood after all!
I have ridden for years but mostly superbikes and have tracked, off-roading, commuted 365 days a year in all UK weathers on average 22,000 miles a year, travelled abroad. Anything bike related I have had a good bash at it. And done 80% of all work on my previous bikes so know my way around them.
If you like any of my short clips please do give a thumbs up 👍 so I get the idea if its helping anyone! And what the heck even subscribe if you can be bothered (not that I will post often but when I do It will be something I think will be useful for the enthusiast).
Cheers all and keep it rubber side down! Thanks Ric!
Ricardo ... Can you advise what the MotoProWorks colour scheme name / reference is ... I have 2023 790 that I would like do the graphics kit on it looks great by the way Kind Regards CC
Hiya CC thanks for the comment and watching the vid. Sure thing the equivalent kit for you model year would be the link below check it first. :) www.motoproworks.com/en-gb/products/ktm-790-890-adventure-r-s-2023-graphics-waypointer-dawn?variant=46368551862607
Hello! I have owned a 1290 for a few years and after having the 1290R on the Pyrenees ACT I decided to sell it after. I enjoy solo adventures and I think the 890R is more manageable with still more than plenty of power. I still love the 1290 and may buy another at some point. But for now I stay with the 890R :) I wait and see what KTM brings in 2025!
Hi ric great footage of the ACT . I live in portugal and going to do the ACT in the next few weeks . The glamping site was that on first day of the route?
Hi mate. Thanks for watching and great feedback. You lucky thing living over there!! Good luck with the trip. The Glamping site was at the end of day 2. This is the place Vale do Rossim Ecoresort Enjoy!! Cheers Ric
Hey stranger! long time no see. As for the ACT ride it was wicked. And as for the your comment on the drone. It is the star if the show as they say. It does do some awesome clips. 👍
Hiya Bruce ! All well thanks mate.. been busy with work but I’ve now cut back my days. Hopefully more time now to catch-up! And I sold my 1290 to fund my next project… which isn’t something particularly of any interest to most.. it’s a MotorBike Camper Conversion!! From bare bones can to full comfy accommodation along with bike containment 👀.. may post a little clip up soon!
Nice video, i still have to finish it, but time and and other things didn't match to make it. Just one recomendation if you didn't tried yet, get a windslayer for the gopro, it's not perfect but it's cheap, you can still capture the engine sound and avoid allot of wind noise.
Hi there ! I joined the Adventure country Tracks website / organisation. They produce trail routes in several countries. Similarly like TET trails but assured to be big bike friendly. However they provide all the advice on travel for each country and route as some are more technical than others and more remote. Some routes not recommended alone. Anyway here it is a wealth of information and options on their site 👍 All the best Ric! 🙏 adventurecountrytracks.com/
Absolutely stunning video we all just need to get out there . I part exed the 1290 for the norden 901 last and have had no regrets , then currently all I see on you tube is story after story of camshaft failures . Do you have any thoughts or heard of these problems ? Cheers Gary
Hiya Gary! Thank for liking the video. As for the Norden its great bike (one of my colleagues has one). But I am with you on your concerns for sure. Being an 890 owner (same bike pretty much as the Norden 901). In the nearly 3 years I have been at the KTM dealer I have heard of two cases. So not a lot from my point of view but nevertheless they exist. I have not had any issues with my own bike regardless of what I throw at it. But I have 1 year left on warranty... After that I don't know how I feel. The problem is there is no bike out there that ticks my box like the 890R or Norden. They are a phenomenal bike that does everthing with a big fat grin... I'll roll the dice and just keep regular services I think and keep it. Although I do miss my 1290R..... I would be lying if I said I wasn't considering going back to one haha... But so dam expensive to change bikes so often!! All the best Ric
Hello mate! I am pleased you enjoyed the video. Portugal is very close to my heart and the country I visit the most. For biking it has everything! It is 1st class for adventure riding.. The food, The people are lovely. Great place to visit or live. All the best, Ric
Hi Ian thanks for that. Mate you will love it!!!!! I didn't look for camp sites but to be honest I don't think you will struggle. If you do struggle then booking.com is your friend and stuff is really well priced there :)
Hello Michael. Thanks mate appreciate the kind words. Pleased to hear you like the channel and my little vids. Yep hope to be around more so too.. Am off to the KTM 2024 Adventure Rally in October so all being well will have some interesting stuff to bring back :) Cheers Rick
Nice one bud! Yeah it's a right ball ache mate. I missed a ton out too.. Anyway you'll enjoy the Pyrenees trip in a few weeks. Wish I was coming :). At least you got your 890r going again!! :)
Hiya Rob. Yes mate for sure.. I am back out there in October as managed to secure a spot on the 2024 KTM European Adventure Rally :) Now that should be fun! Good to hear from you.
Bonjour mon ami ! Merci pour ton commentaire et oui, ça a été trop long. Le voyage était incroyable. C'est probablement le voyage le plus amusant que j'ai eu. Tu devrais absolument le faire ! Bonne chance, Ric
Hi, thanks for the Video, removing the tank cover and the tray in unnecessary ? the plug can be easily removed from its bracket with just a push forward with any plastic tool or screw driver!
@@Gate3739 hello mate thanks for watching. And input. Please note these videos were coming 4 years ago and it was one of the first batch in the UK at the time. Any shortcuts were less known then . Everyone knows everything about these now and quicker ways. 👍🙏 All the best Ric
He only thing is , you can do all that but as soon as anybody looks at your S they will know you have the lesser model , the less robust model and the cheaper model ??
Hello mate, hoping you're still around. I love this decal kit but Dabrabbit don't have it or at least don't list it on their website. Any tips? Cheers James
@@preppygirl6028 hello James yes still around but tied up with other projects lately doing a Motovan conversion 👍 and then off the the 2024 Europe KTM Adventure Rally in Portugal soon But here you are. The part number was in the video clip details STC-BB is the part number. If the link doesn’t work just go to DABRABBIT and use the search box and type STC and hit search and you’ll see it appear 👍 Good luck m.dabrabbit.co.kr/product/2021-new-1290-super-adventure-graphic-kit-stc-bb/272/category/42/display/1/
Thank you my friend! It was epic and recommend you try it. 🙏 I will be going back at some point. But first I have the KTM 2024 Adventure Rally in Portugal to do first 😎 in October 💪 All the best Ric
Excelente trabalho, ficou muito bom!!! Gostaria de colocar na minha 1190 adv original apenas como essas mas infelizmente custa quase 500€ 😢. Excelente trabalho e grande moto. Abraço
Great vid and thanks for posting for this vertically challenged rider. I too am 5’6” on a good day, and have also ridden tall bikes, “Africa Twin, VFR1200X. I’m hoping the 2025 comes in the semi-auto, and if it does, I plan on buying one now, that I know I’ll be able to ride it. Ride safe…
Just ordered the silver/ grey 2024 (74) with the heated ergo low seat. I'm 5 ft 7 inches with a 28" inseam so I'm hoping this bike fits me. Again coming from a Triumph Tiger 900 but the 2023 Aregon edition and managed that well. Nice to see some info on how us "vertically challenged" people manage this bike. Preload drop to 0% worked well on the test ride. 😊😊😊
Unfortunately, this method does not work for me... If I adjust the chain like this, it hangs a lot and rattles to much. Tried several times following these instructions, no good...
They are known for chain slap sound. Even pushing down off a curb it makes a slap. Check your manual it will be there too. Long after this video was made like a year later I ended up working at a KTm dealer for last 2 and half years. I just now (literally) confirmed this with the technicians just to be doubly sure. And it’s the right way 👍 Bike on side stand screwdriver in slot above chain and apply pressure that gets the screwdriver horizon to the floor 👍
Thanks for the answer and well done for the effort! But in Serbia, an authorized service center cuts the chain so that the screwdriver looks straight into the middle of the chain. A friend in Austria has the same case. I bought a 1290 sas 10 days ago, and the chain was adjusted that way at the KTM service. No unpleasant clapping.
That sounds a little odd to me? Why would anybody cut any chain on a brand new bike to adjust chain slack? There is enough adjustment by pulling the wheel back a little to get any desired tension! Instead cutting is shorter? Sorry but I would not be taking my bike anywhere near a dealer that does this. So KTM are selling brand new bikes where you need to cut chain. 👀 never heard of before 🧐 But if your happy then that’s all that matters 👍
@@RicardoYeep it was bad english translation from my language, sorry There is no cutting, just adjusting but on center on chain, no under, no over. Thats I wanted to say
Hello everyone. I retired the bike 5 days ago and I feel a noise or knock from the chain. I think that's what it is.. on the lower left side, just from grabbing a slight imperfection. I don't know if it's just my bike or if they all do it. I feel the knock in the swingarm. Is this normal? Thank you
Hi Simon!! I use the ktm powerpart Twin Air filter kit on my 890R. Has a sponge on the external side as a pre filter to stop most the dust and crap getting through 👍. Easy to clean, washable and comes pre oiled.
@@RicardoYeep I used that set up on my 890r but I’ve now got a 1290 SAS like you which I assumed you rode on the Rallymoto last weekend in Wales hence the question what air filter you use on the 1290.
@@simonhousam1989 Hello. Sorry mate I have not owned a 1290 SAS since May23. I briefly owned a new 1290 SAR for a while then decided for my solo type adventures that an 890R was more appropriate for me. Anyway regarding filter I only ever used the stock filters on my 1290's 👍
The PDI they charge you/me includes checking and opening the dam thing. I bought my 1290S here in Canada. Paid 500 bucks for PDI and the right side was closed! Thanks to you, watching your content ran into this issue. Having not know about it, I would be stranded in middle of nowhere.
Hello my friend and thanks for watching and time for writing. Good to hear you found the vid useful 🙏. Definitely saved a few £ and get to learn your bike at the same time 👍 All the best Ric
Tip top as always ❤ if u Could I got a question when U have time just write me and then I will sen my question because I dont know how to contact U directly thx 👍🏻
Hello mate cheers for the message! If can just message me on Facebook messenger (are not many with my name on) I’ll check the spam folder where things usually end up. And hopefully I’ll see it there. Or just write it there 👍. I’m out on trails but will try get back to you later all being well 🙏 Cheers Ric
Hello mate sorry for the delay in reply. Thanks for liking the clip! Yeah that has to be the best kit I’ve had to date to be honest. I loved that bike! 🤣
