That was a bit funny 😀 What happens when you have no WiFi - you set up a WiFi (using your phone or whatever you have). Now, what I'd like to know before buying my EVO is, what happens when you *really* have no WiFi. It's obvious that you can't play online games then. But what about playing locally against an engine, saving your game and doing game analysis? Does this all still work without any network connection whatsoever?

They are not weighted but they're not super duper light either. You can use any chestnut pieces in fact they have he chips for their pieces for sale and you can make your own pieces

Yes, you can play outside with the unit in direct sunlight. It's kind of hard to see the green LEDs but usually people don't sit in direct sunlight and have some sort of shade.
The system recommended Rg3>g6 sacking pawn CHECK, forcing pawn f7 to sack Rook g6... Qg6 sacking pawn forcing CHECK. King has to go H8.. Your blunder was Qg6 to Qh6 to take another pawn, when you should have Nd6 > Nf7 = MATE. Otherwise good educational video on the app/boards ability to work with the book and show off its capabilities. Thank you.
Good showcase of how stockfish isn't ideal for lower rated practice, haha. I've swapped to Maia and it's been playing way more organically. I was wondering by the way, have you heard of the chess step method? Im trying to improve my chess and I'm curious if you have any experiences with it.
Yeah seems Maia plays more human like. As far as the chess step method, I have never heard of it, I'll have to look that up and see what that is all about.
You could have played from Blacks perspective by turning the board around and then flip the display by swiping down with your finger from the top of the screen. Select rotation icon and you're good to go. You probably haven't used the board in awhile and just forgot this feature. 👍

Yes, there is a free version of the app and also a paid version that just allows access to more of the personalities and a few other features. But totally worth it. It's a pretty great app.
Received my Go a few days ago. I kind of disappointed. Using the regular Chessnut app the LEDs are slow to react to moves and there is a lot of LED leakage over the board. Using the Chessnut Android app there is no lag, but LED leakage is still there.
I am playing lichess against the bots works fine accept for capturing pieces. The board does not recognise the move. Forced to do it in the app then resyncing to board. Any ideas ?
I haven't used this board in a very long time, but last time I used it, I had no problem playing online with humans or with bots, but I don't know if they made any recent updates to their firmware on the board and software app.
Again, as I said in the other post last time I used the board, I've used it playing humans and bots, but again I don't know if they've updated any of their firmware or their software that would cause any issues with this.

I have just spent a couple of hours trying to make my chessnut go ,recognize all the pieces ! uninstalled and reinstalled the app, pressed all the bases of the pieces, as recommended in one of their video's, logged out and back in countless times, changed pieces around , changed the white side over to the black side , connected to blue tooth several times, then just by luck, picked the board up and everything was sorted !!! REASON , I had it on an aluminium/stainless steel, little table ,bugger, so putting the GO on a metal surface messes with the electronics of the chessnut go !!! kind regards Dennis , UK.
I tried ordering a Chessnut Go, paid, waited, followed up, and then was told it would arrive weeks after the date I was quoted. I asked for further confirmation, and not receiving any response at all to a few emails I then asked this company to refund me. I received a response on Facebook saying they closed that thread, please send a new email. I did, no response. I've received responses via Instagram and Facebook making excuses for poor customer service, including suggestions that receiving email is simply too hard for the online company, apparently they don't know how to answer it (despite the officially posted refund policy being to email them.) Still no refund or action however despite acknowledging my request. Pretty ridiculous. It seems like the Go has potential to be a nice product but unfortunately the company seems to be very unreliable and unprofessional and not able to do the basics required to operate as a business.
Mine just came. It's a really solid board, nice rubber feet on the bottom. Played a few games on lichess right out of the box. It has no problem sensing the pieces even if off center. I have a new phone with a great screen and playing on the go is great but being able to play with a 'real' board will be so nice. The case it comes with btw is really sturdy and looks fantastic.
By the way, what is the ELO of this machine? Does it use Stockfish program [if so, which version, please? At the time of this comment, we're up to version 17 I believe ].
I don't know the ELO varies because it trying to play against your playing strength in any mode. Just some of the higher level modes make less mistakes than a lower playing mode. I think that it probably at its peak might play at about 2200 ELO. The version of the stockfish is probably 7 or 8 or some version of that.
HI - I'm getting back into chess study. Have you any suggestions about how to study tactics using an e-board? I have read elsewhere that using an e-board to study tactics gives better results for the OTB player that studying tactics on a screen. I have a ChessNut Air board and its not clear to me how to go about loading up a set of puzzles to work through. Is this practical on any e-board? Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Dave
Yes, studying an end games and positions on a e-board is practical. You can't like load a set of puzzles off but you can do a position setup and played a position out against the appropriate level of their computer. You can't do this on the Chessnut Air. I have a video of doing position setup that might be helpful. If not just let me know and I'll try to help you make it happen so you can study positions and puzzles on your e-board.

And I think you're correct about how their ratings are often deflated and they are better than their ratings. A Saitek GK2100 from 1994 could win probably most human state championships in the US, but its rating is estimated in the 2100s, and it requires a master level rating to win a state championship. Not sure of the reason for that, perhaps the number games that are used to evaluate strength are not sufficient in quantity. I noticed that when you opened the database page, there was no chessboard in the right pane. This board is available in the Chessbase and is really very helpful cause it shows the games' moves directly there when you click it without the need to go back to the main page by double-clicking the game. You can browse many games quickly on the same database page in Chessbase. Is there a way to add the 2d chess game board to the database page in Fritz? Regards
I'm not sure if you're able to add the 2D board in the first database page. I will check it out, but I thought you should be able to do that but I'm not entirely for sure.

Out of the chess eboards you own which one would you consider your favorite? Just curious? I've been thinking about the chessnut air, but the chessup 2 is coming out in november so I am not certain which board I should get.
Honestly, it just all depends. I like ChessUp and Chessnut product line probably the best. However, there is a newcomer that is not on the market yet called iChessOne that I also like a lot too. Largely it going to come down to budget. With that said, I am eagerly awaiting the release of the ChessUp 2, that board looks quite promising. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either one, and I'm sure you'll be happy in any case. They all meet my standard for a modern e-chessboard.
