I'm Dale, and I grew up in Australia. In 2017, I moved to Japan to teach English, only expecting to spend a few years here. I fell in love with traveling Japan, and I'll share that passion with you on this channel!
I really and truly enjoyed this video of yours. I used to live in Himeji, and it brought back a lot of memories. Also, I really liked all your little special effects, like the ghost telling you to fix your autofocus. That made me snort-laugh.
Will be in Japan again in December/January. This time I will spend a week on Okinawa with a daytrip to Tokashiki and Tokashiku Beach. I wanted to check how steep the way to the beach is as I intend to walk there. This is how I found your video. It helped me a lot, thank you very much!
You’re welcome! It’s quite steep and quite far actually. I’d recommend taking the bus. As you get off the ferry, there should be a bus waiting there that most people will get onto. Much better than walking I think. Enjoy your trip!
I am making a cooking video about Himeji food. Could I have your permission to use a clip from this video inside mine, please? Of course, I will credit your channel. Cheers! =)
I think this is an intermediate hike and not too difficult, but it is somewhat long, especially if you want to enjoy yourself. I recommend starting as early in the day as possible. The first time I tried to do this hike with my friend, we were told to turn back around halfway because we started to late and it would get dark. Enjoy the hike!
Just noticed the subtitle error! Oops 😂 I said “Definitely feels like I’m in Shōgun now.” Bonus points if you can tell me where the intro music is from 😉
People have always dealt with different as making them feel slightly uncomfortable so they tend to make fun of it in response. It wouldn't matter if everyone were bald, people wound look for another thing that stood out. Less than 1% could care less.
I didn't know it was so bad, I just shave mine bald cause it's too hot. But those clippers you got do the whole thing? Mine leavevway to much hair and I need to use a razor for an hour at least. Do your clippers make you bald. Mine only cut me down to 5 days growth or so.
These ones cut down to about a 2 day growth which is alright, but I have this other electric shaver which finishes the job. It has six circular blades and kind of looks like a flower if that’s makes sense. You can find it on Amazon lol
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing. I’m planning a trip to Tokyo/Osaka and the islands. Tokashiki looks beautiful. What time of the year did you visit? I’ve read about the typhoons. I’m planning to go in September, but I’m not sure if that’s a good time to visit weather-wise. Thanks! ✨
The lights were the best part said my daughter! Is the sea candle lighting an all year round thing? Was it hard heading back to Tokyo by train at night?
Just this week a 5 year old girl asked me "why don't you have hair!?". I told her my hair decided to leave me. She was a bit confused but laughed...and btw, I've known this neighbor girl for over one year but just now she asked. Then the next day I passed some kids playing soccer in a school yard and while I drove past they started yelling at me. Their soccer ball was kicked over the school fence and they hoped I could retrieve the ball for them. I stopped the car, threw the ball to them and one of them yelled..."cool haircut!"... I'm so used to shaving my head since my hair began to thin. I don't ever think about it till asked. Not sure if it is confidence or just accepting reality.
Do bald white men do well on tinder in east asian countries like japan? Please tell me man. I'm currently typing this from a mental institution because balding has been ruinous for my mental health. I used to do really well with east asian women but I know that's because they liked a tall athletic guy with a nice pompadour haircut. Now I am bald. No east asian women like me. :(
This is what triggered acute mental illness for me = the realisation that the women I want to meet i.e. east asian women are the ones least likely to accept a bald man. Truly brutal.
Yes you can, but please be warned at all stations aside from the two terminuses, you will need to tap the IC card on the train itself as there are no stations gates
Sometimes I miss having hair. But then again I don't have to style my hair, pay for haircuts, dry my hair, and it's cooler in the summer. Also samurai used to shave their heads. Yep. Those are my excuses.
I’m not sure, but if you download the Go Taxi app, you should be able to check. At the very least, you should be able to get a taxi back to Isehara station and take the Odakyu Line back to Shinjuku from there. Hope that helps!
Yes, they like to make fun of baldness. And expect people with baldness should accept it and respond it in a humorous way like in some standup comedy. Body shaming is pretty common there. By the way, i have early baldness. When i lived there, i was even laughed while commuting on the train
Got this on my recommended and clicked not thinking much of it, cause it seemed like an interesting video. Only once I was halfway through and left for a bit and came back later did I realise it came from a small channel. I would’ve easily thought this came from a channel with 100k+ subs 😅 keep up the good videos man!
I remember that one time I went to the post office, did all my transfers and withdrew what was remaining after that which would be my monthly fun money (as I drain out the Japanese account) and put it all in a folder that contained my passports and other important documents which I had on the time on me. I went on my motorbike and zipped off to see my client. The meeting was a success and then after wanting to grab a bite to eat, I then realised that all of my stuff was missing. I quickly phoned the post office that time and they thankfully had my documents but will be closed by the time I arrived. There was a police box nearby them so they would drop it off along the way. On the way home, I went to the same police box which was unmanned. I entered and used the phone inside to ring the police station and informed them that I was here to collect the items. They acknowledged my request and said the police officer would be there .................. in 1.5 hours. I eventually got the items back but lesson learnt.
As mendokusai as that was for you, we should still be incredibly grateful you got your stuff back. In a lot of places around the world, you’d never see your stuff again. Thanks for the comment Marvin!
Great interviews! Something missing is that ‘hage’ (baldy) is one of the many Japanese words for ‘idiot’! I have always wanted to get so riled up in a Japanese argument that I call my fully-haired opponent bald. 聞けよハゲ! See also, many jokes about ‘barcode’ (combover) hairstyles.
I've spend most of my 20's traveling the world in search for some sort of Promised Land: a place where I wouldn't be bothered by things like work culture, racism, weather, or annoying people. As you probably know, no such place exists - but it took me years to figure that out myself :) In every place I went to there were things I hated and things I loved and missed when I finally moved on. Overall, happiness is where the heart is.
Did the same. On the same boat. However I am tired of all the BS here in the states. All I want is to be left alone. Tired of the whining and problems. In Japan it’s no different. Thing is they won’t kill you to rob you.
