💜I have no doubt that meant alot. It doesn't matter if she grew up with them or not because just being there, etc. shows that people care. Besides, people in theatre, etc. probably know that. You all did a great job and I think it's a beautiful thing to do that for someone you care about! I feel like singing Memory from Cats.💜
I sang at Carnegie Hall last November. Happy birthday to your mother from Yuma Arizona. I love your videos... especially the one about Michael Jackson. Break a leg with Disaster!! I also liked the one about Carly Simon. Have a great birthday with your mom!!
My Grandmother was given this album as a gift by her next door neighbor's son who wrote this song and co-produced this album. All Hail Gary White! I wonder if he wrote this song about a girl he loved ...ohh I don't know.... maybe next door.....
Lorna is the sweetest person 💕 I remember being a twelve year old kid & meeting her at an audition in ‘87. We talked about how great she was on that Private Benjamin show
Carrie (1976) is far and away my favourite American film of all time, never seen the remakes don't intend too, been a fan of Betty ever since that film didn't realise that she is such a fantastic singer and performer, would love too see her on stage in London, I know of course she,s done a lot in London, I was also surprised to know that her first appearance in London was in 1969 in a musical called Promises, Promises.
Seth, you did this video 16 years ago (was that the first year of RU-vid?) and somehow RU-vid only just now suggested it to me (oh, those crazy algorithms!). But I am SO on the page with you about "getting into the weeds" on songs, and this is no exception, I agree wholeheartedly with all your points about Barbra and "Stoney End." One thing you didn't mention is how she pronounces "thunders" on both recordings as if it were some strange word - or maybe she thought Nyro made a wrong lyrical choice? Also, did you ever see the video of her singing a snippet of it during a concert back in, I think, 2006? It wasn't bad. But your song dissection here reminds me of when you interviewed Toni Tennille (also a big fan here!) a couple of years ago on SXM and dissected, what was it, "Lonely Night (Angel Face)" or "Shop Around"..? It was so good and I got such a kick hearing Toni's surprise and even her silences at what you were asking her about it because I don't think anyone EVER dissected a song with her during an interview. I thought you were brilliant! Keep on keepin' on, Seth! (BTW, I also love the work you've done with my favorite Broadway Baby, Liz Callaway!) ♥️
I always assumed “Machiavell-me” was riffing on Prince Matchaveli, a big cosmetic and perfume designer from that period. It’s in line with the other designers mentioned in the lyric.
Seth, I love this breakdown so much. I found this video of yours like a decade ago, and whenever I think about this song, I like to come back and watch this again to hear your thoughts on it. It is such a great piece, and your insights are wonderful! All the best.
