Every day I'm able, I pick up my bass and play and post the first thing that pops into my head; mistakes, clams and poor choices included, no warm up, no plan. I also make all of the basses I play. Please consider supporting this channel by joining as a member for more insights on the bass builds, the gear I use and general whatnot discussion about bass and life.
It really feels like a plan and a stick to it ativeness. I love the flowers and the clock being involved in the over all aura of this improv they seem telling. I really want to invest my time exploring the trio's sounds much more but I am heavily invested this month but hopefully on the back end. These improvs are fitting in quite deliciously. TY MR. PAUL
@@andrzaf I built this bass. I build all of the basses I play in these vids. This one is a custom mahogany body that hints at a Fender Meteora shape but with a rear rout so no need of a pickguard.the neck is a custom padauk P-bass style with an ebony fingerboard. The pickups are Seymour Duncan Proactive Jazz Bass pickups that I painted cream to match the Big Muff knobs I wanted to use on this build.
Hello. I'm looking at you, I'm from Russia. I really like the way you play. I play the guitar and I like it, but I’m not very good at it. what can you recommend?
@@driNix_n3t just keep playing. As much as you can. Sit ariwitt the guitar and play it, even if you are thinking about it or being intentional. Just explore it and have it your hands at all possible times.
The title was quite descriptive of my journey here and elsewhere. I have already been welcomed and will do my best to behave responsibly. The music- equally descriptive. TY
I had to 🤣🤣🤣 the title drew me in , but I was doing other things. After the last improv that I checked out. I had another listen to the wrong color. Great song. Upon thinking the first two songs are in a great position on the album and as I figured fitting especially for my foray because they gave me great feel for where I was going. Trial by Fire or baptism by Fire. Man I really love the music. Many TY2's
@@M43STR0_dnb I grew up in the Ozarks, abd was a hardcore whitewater kayaker waterfall hucker for many years of my life. We always made fun of flat ol Oklahoma. We surf rivers.
Hey Mr Paul just so you know I comment hoping to add support to your work. You are always welcome to answer back but I pardon you of any social burden to be polite and proper. (If there is any) lol😁 I find your music soothing, healing and a great space for meditation and contemplation. Great sounding ax and chops. This composition had me in a dreamy feeling like it was a French world music piece. Very nice. I am aiming to share your channel and music with a good friend of mine, but I didnt send the links yet. Leisure me maybe tonight. I bet he would really enjoy it and could use it for the healing properties after mr.Phil Lesh passed this pass week and he a big fan. My condolences to you also I could see you having respect in the least. One understanding I have been informed of about the man he was an eager and tireless student of the bass, I am kind of imagining the same of you thinking of what I experienced so far. Peace bro and a beautiful piece.❤
@@w8tingonu I appreciate, welcome and look forward to your comments. The entire point of this, in fact of making music at all, is connection. I view it as a conversation ; with the listener, with the other musicians I play with, with the universe I am embedded within. It is my goal and honor to participate in an open dialogue and I thank you for it. 🙏
I have never been to Oklahoma City, but that garage sounds like the one I want to be in if I ever happen upon there. I admit that garage sounds sweet. BUT did your hear and see that BASS it sounds equally SWEET!😂
I appreciate the thoughts aroused from this video. Folks don't always know what folks are going through and should conduct themselves such at times. I mess it up often.❤
make a video playing with one of these bows hehehehehe nah joking // it would be nice if you tell a story of each of your basses, how you got it, your favs, and the pros and cons of each one... i'm just thinking aloud...
@@un-dos-tres-mambo Iike to try to keep this channel simple and just the improvs...and free. But when YT monetized me a while back I asked all the subscribers what they'd like to see if I were to do that whole membership thing and what you have asked for was the general consensus. So there is a membership thingy on this channel and in that I chit chat and talk about the basses and how I built them. The first few are in the form of posts and pics as I wasn't taping for posterity at the time I did the builds, they predated this channel. I have now started taping and sharing all of my builds over there. I must admit I have stalled out on my latest, an 8 string fretless, and fell off posting in the members section out of guilt. I got busy with elk hunting, breaking and retrieving my truck off a mountain while elk hunting, and playing lots of shows. But now I realize I should have been posting that. I'm new to this whole thing really and still haven't accepted that anyone would find what I do interesting. But I am trying to be more interactive with content in the members section. And I do plan to put up some archery stuff and walk everyone through my bows, there are lots of em. About 50 years of my life. Like the bass. But that membership section is a monthly pay thing. Which is weird and kinda embarrassing to me. So I have made it as cheap as YT would let me. I'm in the road again this week though so probably no updates over there for a bit.
@@mymorningimprovpaulcrowwil2195 thanks for the insightful and kind reply, i also love bows and bass, i never thought you made your own stuff, i like the way your channel works, but i threw some ideas as I've always contributed to people I found valuable for humanity, as yourself // keep up the good work and the good vibes, blessings 🙏
@@un-dos-tres-mambo I appreciate it and the suggestions. Like I said this entire media method is new to me and I'm trying to figure out how to navigate it and be relevant in some way. My intention with the vids and the channel was to show what can be done with very little; very little glitz and glam and hype, very little equipment, very little preparation (all complete improvisations). The hope being to motivate people to also share without feeling the pressure to wait until whatever they had was "perfect" or maybe even competitive with comparable content. Just get it out and have fun. Building my own basses just sort of happened, because I'm poor and I have very specific tones I am pursuing. That trip is not difficult so I hope maybe to also get others to do it.
@@un-dos-tres-mambo I don't make my bows. I am not quite that skilled. I make all of my arrows, usually out of chundoo or douglas fir..and I cut all of my fletching. 13 of my bows are modern era customs made for me by my friend Warrick Harvey of Harvey Archery. The rest are vintage that I have accumulated since childhood; Bears, Ben Piersons, Black Widows, Brownings, Shakespeares, a few others. I use them to hunt elk, mule deer, antelope, turkey etc. Traditional archery is the only way I have hunted since I was a kid.
@@mymorningimprovpaulcrowwil2195 wow, i wish we had more prey where i live, most animals are small and most is endangered by human activities like mining, prospection and bad gov. policies.... i spotted that most of these bows are composite, i've mostly built solid-one-piece bows, and couple comp ones but very amateurish builds ha! // thanks once again for the great feedback and dedication to your channel visitors.... i am thinking on doing a fretless improv to share it with you hehehhe // sorry for the time-lapse between replies but i am under heavy-work now.... and thanks for sharing your jams and your thoughts, i really appreciate'em hehe // best regards !
Well, that's the kinda things I'd like to be able to do in my fretless journey. You're trully an inspiration Sounds awesome, groovy, funky, and even emotional. Continue your work! (Love the name of the music btw)
@@draghost_ thank you so much for listening and your kind words. I am quite sure you will find your own interesting voice with your instrument. It is what we do.
Yo man! That sound under your hand is insanely incredible! Respect for all of your built monsters... Keep up and all the best ❗ Thx 4 the eargasm, for real!!!! 🎸💯🔥 ✌🏻&💜
@@mymorningimprovpaulcrowwil2195 wow beautiful do you have a reverb store? Reminds of a mix of a godin a4 and Rick turned renaissance. I'd love to see more of it
@@FollowWillTheFame I don't have a store. I build under the name Working Man Basses and really only just started. I've built 6 basses so far. My goal is to build serviceable tour worthy basses that evoke maybe a bit of a vintageness but take advantage of modern technology and sounds. Something ya won't get afraid to drop and bang into yer guitar player. Because it happens.
@@norbicsek I do use that little Boss Dual Cube but I don't know in the B. I'm all 4 string. I did run my BEAD bass through it once and thought it handled it just fine. But I'm low volume with it. I will say my rig's cabs, those Phil Jones C8s are also 5" cones and that thing handles a low B better than my 18s.
Your melodic work is as impressive as your funky stuff. I think I appreciate these types of jams you do just a tad more, allowing you to show off the bass as more than a low end groove machine. It grooves, it pops, it jams, it sings and it cries. Lovely playing as always, Crow.
Hey good morning Paul, I wasn't going to check music today to focus on my goal but I am glad I did. I checked out that album Fire again yesterday. The whole work has a great andvappealing feel to me. The three pieces that have been sticking out to me are : burn baby burn spinning docehedren (Ihope I spelled that right) and I think not that again which had a happy feet kind of feel come to think of it the first 2 songs were really good too. Thanks man I really need and needed the extra energy you and your music has given me. Inspirational I tell ya. HEAVY CLUTCH - reminds me of the older spring clutch. I remember I didn't have experience driving stick back in the day but had multiple motorcycles and experience, I was right out of high school working for a roofer and I was the only one outside the foreman who had a license, all the men on the crew were amazed at how natural I was driving that stake body Ford at red lights on steep hills too, they didn't let me drive until they had to their fears subsided as quickly as mine. Small victories are super bowls to common folk. Amen have a wonderful day ,ty.
@mymorningimprovpaulcrowwil2195 working on them and driving them are two different monsters, God bless and good luck. I ll be thinking of you my brain does that on its own. Peace
