Don't be ridiculous, there is no 'initial take off'. The gyro either takes off or it doesn't. I suggest you try again - this time mention 'pre-rotating'.
@@Tinker1950 ah……..but there is: very very very few pre-rotators are able to pre-rotate rotors at high enough RPMs to accomplish these short take-off. There are also blade tip jet assists. Without effective enough pre-rotators, these gyros are not truly STOL. they may be short landers, but never short takeoffers initially.
@@gjalabaster6726 Well, like the fellow above who obviously knows nothing about gyrocopters, you're entirely wrong. Even a basic aircraft is capable of pre-rotating sufficiently to achieve a very short take off (see video, link). However, it is a non-approved practice having consideration of the potential for engine failure. From what I see after a lot of vids you'd better be a real a sensitive pilot to enjoy Gyros just as any FW or Heli pilot. Respect the parameters established by test pilots and live or become a test pilot. No exceptions. Period.

it is tottaly stupid to fly stationnary at more then 1 m above the ground.. if the engine stops the gyro will hit the ground hard .. a gyro is not an helicopter your are showing off but you are encouraging people to do the same without warning : shame on you
