i would debate on the horn being the best way to strectch material. in fact, the edge of an anvil properly done is far more efficient. Good video nontheless . <3
Yes you are right. The anvil edge is very effective, especially when it comes to extending smaller things in my opinion. It's even better when the edge is slightly rounded. However, for larger items and especially for beginners, the anvil horn works great. It does not leave such deep marks and allows you to easily obtain a smooth surface. But such a well-prepared anvil edge is much more effective in good hands.
you are absolutly right, and horn is definitly a very good way to both strech and keep your material a bit more clean (on the edge i usually have to heat the metal again and straighten / clean it to avoid issues such as cold shuts . A welding machine is an power tool. It was not used in the punch forging process and it is not really necessary to weld anything to the punch. This is my choice and an additional option. The forged punch can simply be held in your hand.
