I mean, you sort of cover a wider issue, one that nobody seems to want to address. That is the cost to companies in the sheer volume of bats given away for free to professionals. How many bats on average does a professional go through a season? You see a pro calling for a new bat at a game, and usually at least 3 are brought out to them, usually brand new. Then they’ll probably throw the used one straight away rather than refurbishing it. That cost has to be passed on somewhere, and usually to the paying customer.
England has produced many legendary batsmen that have batted in the traditional british style and they’ve been beautiful at the highest level. But at the lowest level (amateur) it looks really poor. Both of these batsmen are stiff with useless triggers and no fluency in their batting. I’ve seen this with some Premier League batsmen too. Their (lack of) technique makes it obvious that the coaching of british children needs work. These same people would’ve been much better and had more efficient techniques if they lived in Australia, India, Pakistan or even the Windies and weren’t overcoached.
Good video michael. At some point, can you make a video on the sounds when ping testing a bat? Every bat seller bounces a new ball of the bat and goes 'wow hear the sound' and to be honest, it's all gone murky for people. Maybe a video on what good ping sounds like, what bad ping sounds like, etc. would be nice. I know a lot of it has to do with the pressing, so a myth busting video would be great.
