Our goal is to provide you with premium lighting and overland components for your truck, camper, or ATV build and the tools to make educated decisions! We will be doing this by producing videos to not only help you decide on what to purchase, but will also help you with the install supporting videos along the way.
We actively carry products by top manufacturers so we are able to assist in testing what you want to see!
What i did to silent them permanently i lifted the truck chassis to let the diff droop then with a pry bar seprated each leaf i could , cleaned them and squeezed a clear silicone caulk in between. Let the truck back down wipe the excess and done!! No more squeek ever again!! Wont attract dust or be removed by water splash like grease .
Sometimes the segments will have to be realigned as they can shift, but if you’re squeaking again already you might be getting noise at the center pin or the bushings as well.
I have a GMC Sierra. Bad squeaking/groaning. I stupidly paid for new leaf springs. Less than a year they're starting to groan and clunk. I assumed this was from the bushings at the end of the leaf pack. Do you know anything about GM's issue?......leaf pack noise or bushing? If bushing what would you do about that?
My 2011 is doing the same, 3 year old leaf packs. Mine is the leaf pack itself as you can feel and hear it come from the center where the leafs meat the ubolts. I pried them apart and loaded with oil. Not sure how long it's gonna last, but 1 week of silence so far.
Does the amber backlight on the ssc2 lenses differ? Because compared to tge ss3s, some ssc2s have a similar backlight, while others have a much weaker Backlight
The different lenses will reflect the light differently, and as a result the backlight will be more apparent (or not). For example, on the SSC2 if you chose a SAE Fog lens the backlight will be much more visible then when paired with a spot lens. There's many more angles for the backlight to reflect off of on the SAE fog lens. Hopefully that helps!
@@hotshotoffroad thanks for the reply! So if I’m choosing the ss3 sae yellow max, what ssc2s should i choose in order for the backlights intensity to match the ss3?
@@Asdfg-fw9ib Something like the combo, flood, or even driving should have similar backlight intensity. Also, we've got them all available over at Hotshot Offroad!
We OCCASIONALLY get a little bit of movement in the instances when we really lash on the suspension, but we've never had any fall out. Looking at the truck today I think that there's 3 pieces that could use adjustment, but there's no sound from back there at all.
They'll shift around sometimes in high speed use-cases, but we don't get movement on them when we're crawling. There's enough pressure on them that even when the leaves open up they're pretty much pressed into place.
In our experience a lot of the noise from Icon RXTs anyway come from the interaction between the leaves themselves! It's not often from the bushings. Now their UCAs on the other hand... definitely the bushings!
Great video. Exactly what I was looking for right now. I just bought the Baja's and they're just a tad brighter off to the side. I know I'm 3 years late, but subscriber number 800 baby🎉.
Woot! Thanks for the support, and happy that we could help! We've been quite slow on uploading, but we're putting things in place to solve that problem we hope.
I'm terribly sorry that I didn't see this. I have no idea why the OEM sensor covers are so expensive. We had to purchase a couple to get it right, but so far a couple of years later no issues!
Colton: Thanks for taking the time to CLEARLY label the on-screen comparisons and leave them on screen long enough to comprehend.. I have watched way too many videos of folks who just describe what they are displaying which leads to confusion. PS: Your voice is excellent - don't chang it to the overly excited - this is incredible - ow WOW - over the top dialog. Yours is just perfect.
Yeah I don't think I could ever have that persona. Far to forced an unnatural for me. I'm a nerd though so I am happy to share what I know. Glad that the comparison helped! The feedback is much appreciated.
It sucks that Icon made leafs that squeak and have yet to fix this problem or quit selling them. Mine squeaked after 3,000 miles, and haven’t stopped. GET DEAVER if you’re in the market
Awesome video and thank you. I know it's about a year later but did you get the pre collision sorted out? If it's in another video I apologize I just found your content. Be safe and be blessed!
Yes I did. I purchased a different TSS sensor cover and it has worked flawlessly since! I would link you to it, but the listing that I used is now gone.
Great video Aimed proper as you described how are they in rain / fog / snow ? Any glare ? Thick pea soup fog and blizzards are what I plan to use them in. Guess they can be aimed and mounted lower as I’m buying universal mounts
The glare is minimal! That's the whole point of these is to cut through the blizzards, fog, etc! That said, you'll want to make sure to get at least the pro power level so that the lens face gets hot enough to actively clear off driving snow.
I use surface shield by blaster and I coat the entire undercarriage with it. Then I jack up the body of the truck and spray it between the open leafs in the pack. Spray your underneath like this once a year for two to three years and it builds up to a nice surface to where no rust and no squeaks. I do like this idea as well
I have spent so much time and money on trying to figure out how to make my leaf springs stop squeaking. Just did this and it absolutely worked !! Thank you!!
Have the same set up and the squeak monster is frustrating at times. Will try this. Did you do anything to the actual bushings? Or just the plastic spacer pads. Thank and great vid. New sub here
Hey there! We "generally" don't get a ton of noise from the bushings. Every situation is different, but we find this to be the fix most of the time. That said, we are pretty deliberate about greasing bushings on install too.
Do the inner tubes slide out after a bit? especially with the grease in between the leaf springs? just curious I'm trying to narrow down which method I want to use, thanks!
We had one guy with a 1st Gen Tundra who runs high-speed often and he has to adjust his shims every few weekends when he races. Other than that, there's a bunch of other rigs out there who never has to fight with them moving!
There's definitely folks that love their chrome! Can't take that away from ya! We prefer the color match most of the time over here though when we can.
If your going to that extent you should just grease the pads and/or replace any damaged ones. A lot of people don't do regular maintenance on their leaf pack and have squeaking. Most installers never breaded them before putting them in either.
Maxima motorcycle chain wax works well for squeaky suspension bushings and such. It sprays on liquid to penetrate and then dries like a wax to keep from attracting too much dirt.
