Thanks mate! All that stuff was shot and exhibited back in 2015 so I’m safe there! The reflections stuff I’m focussed on now is just the straight reflections off the water, and I think fact they’re all shot on film and have a physical negative is a good starting point for the differentiation for these ones 🤙 Could even sell a one of one printed and framed finished piece and include the negative in the sale. Retain a high res scan for subsequent editions etc

That didn’t last long for Pentax. They didn’t produce many of them, so there was a backlog of people waiting to get them. Now that enough have been distributed in just a few weeks - there is now a surplus of them. Turns out that they are not selling well at all. Wonder if Pentax will reduce the price to four hundred?

Yeah the fact they’re going after the disposable camera crowd reminded me of photo collage walls you’d put up in your room as a teenager, which got me thinking of the David Hockney Polaroid collages, which this seems like the perfect camera for. Going to do some street portraits in a similar fashion too
I can't help but notice there's no setting that corresponds to the zone between 54cms and 1m. Like what setting to have it on when the subject isn't a meter away but also isn't 50cms? Prefect example is someone sitting across the table at a restaurant. It's called the 'extremely close distance' setting, but 1m is not extremely close.
Hahah yeah I’m gonna do a proper review once I’ve put a few more through it, definitely got some gripes haha. Really easy fixes tho, seems crazy how much some small things impact the whole experience and how easy it would’ve been to fix it 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah I love all these in-between spaces you get the further down the water you go from the city. Also love hitting the docklands side near Ron Barassi Snr Park. The rate of change and development over the past decade along either side is pretty spectacular

I have a mint G1 and G2 with the OEM flash, 35 mm, 45 mm and the 90 mm but I also picked up an Elan for like $10. I use this often when not shooting with either Contax (with either the EF 40 mm 2.8 or 50 mm 1.8). It's quite plasticky but I'm amazed at the photos this thing takes. Not as fun as my Contax G models but it's a reliable film alternative that takes great pics.
Killer video! Had no idea about this event. Such a cool thing they are still doing it. Crazy and all but still it’s nice they kept it. The light looked so nice as well, very warm, bouncing around the dirt and the buildings, alternating between the shadowy parts. On a side note PETA and the rest should probably focus on say, the chickens first, before attacking a bunch of Italians keeping tradition or a tiny % of population eating foie gras.

I actually found there was a slight boost in dynamic range in medium over large, and I used to edit everything on a laptop, but now I have a NAS server so I shoot large

Used your recommended settings for street work with the Q3 and I am super impressed and grateful for the results. I used a Q exclusively for nearly 4 years of shooting (have been a photographer for over 55 years) and it was my fist Leica. Lot's of impressive performance but terrible autofocus particularly when so much better tech was available for rent even from Leica's digital partner, Panasonic. The Q3 is miles better than the Q in may ways. Had high expectations for autofocus improvements but with the settings I was using before your suggestions I was seeing at best a 20% improvement. I do a lot of shooting from the hip. The settings you recommended are stellar. Thank you so much.
The first photo of the dread person is a smoking frame imo . The zoned out expression is so real. I love the lady at the bottom left edge peaking in and the one in the back right kind of entering the frame. It feels very balanced and real. Those are my favourite kind of street photos, far more than any juxtapositions or anything!
I don't know why so many people call this the perfect street camera. I miss shots all the time because of slow response after auto power off. If I disable auto power off then the battery life is total shit. Never miss a shot with Contax T2/G2
Yeah fair, but I don’t seem to have this problem. I do have a spare battery tho. I keep the camera on then just press the shutter as soon as I see an image occurring to make sure the camera’s on. I find two batteries will last me a whole day of pretty rigorous shooting, and coming from shooting film just carrying one little extra battery doesn’t bother me either. I also shot a G2 for about a decade, love that camera but it’s nowhere near as fast as a Q3. Completely different ball park
Yeah not really possible to mimic a filter exactly, and I prefer it this way, for me the less post processing the better! Each to their own tho. I’m in Japan right now and just shot another ep with the glimmer glass. Got a photo that I think perfectly explains why I prefer the filter over an edit. Hopefully you enjoy it when i upload 👌
Did you travel with just the Q3? I am considering one, but not sure if I could travel with just a 28mm. I know you can crop with this sensor, but so can my A7rv.
Nope! And who said I never look people in the eyes? I engage when I want/need to. 99% of people would prefer you’re invisible anyway, and it gets better results, the aim is to capture candid moments without bruising the scene. When I do a street portraiture I’ll talk to the person. Street is completely different tho. Study Vivian Maier or any historically significant street photographer. Enjoy your day.
I honestly can’t fathom why anyone searching for and or just interested in street photography or Leica would make such a comment. I found it helps give me a slightly better idea of what I’m capturing as opposed to looking at a flat dng on the lcd when I’m out in the sun rushing around
