I have a serious issue with this video. Specifically with adding the antifreeze. It should NOT be diluted with water. Plumbing antifreeze does not mix with water or prevent it from freezing, it is only meant to push water out. This is stated right on the bottle.
This video was recorded with the pool pump off, our experts suggest sloshing around the water with the bucket instead of running the pump to maximize the effectiveness of the chemicals. You can check out our current winter closing kits here: www.poolsupplies.com/shop/chemical-kits?Page=1&Attrs=3134
I e bought 2 of these covers and they’re totally worthless installing this way. There are no clips for the rounded top pools and this cover is easily blown off when installed this way.
I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the covers! That sounds really frustrating, especially with rounded-top pools. For added security, you might consider using extra clips or straps to help keep the cover in place. An air pillow can also be a great addition, as it helps elevate the cover and reduce water accumulation. Additionally, a Pillow Pal can provide extra security, as it Velcros to both the cover and the pool pillow to keep everything in place. Great Question! This pump has a 19-foot cord. You can find all of the Pump details here: www.poolsupplies.com/product/rx-clearreg-swimming-pool-cover-pump-14-hp-1500-gph
Good afternoon! That’s a great question. After speaking with Gary, one of our pool experts, I learned that the placement of the return is often determined by the size of the pool and the manufacturer’s design. In this case, the pool is 8 feet by 8 feet. Thanks for your interest!
An overlap liner typically has a standard overlap of 6 to 12 inches over the pool wall. This extra material helps secure the liner in place and prevents it from shifting. If you're considering an overlap liner, make sure to measure your pool accurately and consult with our pool experts at 1-800-356-3025. My liner was cut short and has pulled through the clip-on rail causing the liner to open up at top and sag into pool. I do not know what to do and was thinking to use waterproof tape to fix since I can't make the liner longer.

This video is too old to be useful! Shameful for What is supposed to be a reputable company. It's not that hard to make a video. This was posted 9 years ago and they probably 20 years ago. Ridiculous. Not a single part from the video matches what I got in 2024
Hi Brian, thank you for your feedback! I understand your frustration with the outdated video. I’ll be meeting with our team on Wednesday and will definitely suggest that we create a new, updated version. We appreciate your input as we strive to improve our resources!
I'm tempted to get one of these, cut it to shape, and glue it inside my 24x12 Intex Above Group Pool, which isn't the same as a hard walled Above Ground Pool, but is instead pretty much a big bag of water... My current liner is 9 years old, and living in the middle of Canada, where it's -50c some days in the winter, I have left this Intex pool standing and filled to about 6 inches lower than the 2 water output ports. It's not leaking, and seems fine, other than there is no longer any blue checkered pattern to be seen from the normal water level line and down, which I read was important to maintaining some heat in your Above Ground Pool, as the sun hits the dark blue and helps heat the water, which is why it's also best to have a CLEAR bubble pool cover, instead of a blue one, because the sun gets through the CLEAR bubble cover to hit the dark blue checkered pattern. This is the logic behind the CLEAR pool cover incase anyone was interested... And which is why a blue bubble cover is not as good, because the cover itself heats up on top of the water, and heat rises, so the heat is above the cover in that case, and not under it, where your cold water is, and instead of heating the pool, you are just insulation the pool from getting heated below, and trapping in the cold... Anyway, since the liner isn't really a problem other than the pattern missing, I was thinking of lining it with one of these, as Intex is in the USA, I think California is where a new liner would ship from, and would cost me double the price in Canadian dollars, and would also cost another double the price just for the insane Brokerage fees that the shipping companies extort from people that have no other alternative but to use their BS service to move something over an invisible line... Any thoughts? Also, it's too bad Flex Seal didn't have a blue can of their product that was for this specific purpose, as if they made it work, they would have a very attractive product that I'm pretty sure nobody else has! In fact, I'll go tell them this after this posting/comment!

Sorry, we missed your comment. You definitely don’t want to cut the liner for the skimmer before you install the liner itself. Making sure everything is in place first is key to avoiding any issues later on, ensuring that your cut into the liner will be exact to the skimmer hole. If you have any additional questions, our team of pool experts are available to help at 1-800-356-3025.
The openings are NIT that big on mine it took us two house of tapping in a small amount at a time to get the sand In. The holes were about the size of a standard screw.

The Aqua Select stairs are designed to provide a stable platform for entering and exiting the pool while allowing water to flow through the holes. The holes are typically small enough to prevent sand from escaping while still allowing air and water to move freely, maintaining proper water levels and circulation. Filling the stairs with water instead of sand would create a different dynamic. Sand can help provide stability and weight, which is especially useful in outdoor settings where shifting might occur. If the stairs were filled with water, they might not be as secure and could be more prone to floating or shifting if the pool’s water level changes. Plus, the sand helps prevent algae growth and other debris from accumulating in the stairs.
This video was filmed 12 years ago, and it seems we did not include an air pillow. However, we now recommend using one. Here is an updated how-to video that features the air pillow: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EawM5uHgOiI.htmlsi=YgQsaAvmtH-6WEd1&t=189

We actually refer to them as clips here at PoolSupplies.com, although 'clamp' also accurately describes their function. If you need some, you can find them here: www.poolsupplies.com/shop/winterizing-cover-clips?Page=1

How do you decide how much of the liner overlaps the top edge. Too little and you have wrinkles on the side walls. Too much and it stretches the liner possibly too much.

Hi Randy, you normally don’t want to cover the skimmer. If the water accumulates on top of the cover, it could pull the skimmer off the side of the pool. It's best to keep it exposed to avoid any damage. If you have any additional questions, feel free to call us at 1-800-356-3025. Our pool experts are available Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday-Sunday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM (EST).
Yes, they can generally be reused year after year if they are in good condition. To ensure longevity, check for signs of wear such as cracks, brittleness, or loss of elasticity. Proper care, such as cleaning and storing them in a dry, cool place, will help extend their lifespan. If the plugs still create a tight seal and show no damage, they can be reused for multiple seasons. However, it’s a good idea to inspect them annually before use to ensure they are still effective.

I have a Betta solar robotic leaf skimmer that gathers leaves off the surface of the water. This keeps my robot from getting stuck in the skimmer on the side of the pool.

Hello there! Using an extension cord will void the warranty because household cords are not able to carry the appropriate amps/voltage for usage. If you must use one, make sure to follow the electrical code, and the cord needs to be at least 12-10 gauge wire. If you have any additional questions, our team of pool experts are available to help at 1-800-356-3025.
2023 UPDATE- PLEASE READ We show 2 different gaskets that can be used. Black gaskets- Place them on as shown, BUT- Do not cut the liner. After taping the gaskets in place, you may line up & attach the skimmer. Then you can cut the square hole in the liner, after the skimmers been tightened up. White butterfly gasket- if using this gasket you will need to precut the liner, as displayed above in the video.
I'm currently doing this job today and my gasket is a bit different. It doesn't appear to be the butterfly style. Any advice for me on how to properly install?

Instead of wind clips I go and buy the $10 or less pack of wratchet straps and re-secure fully over tarp as well as the line through. Keeps it very snug and secure. Just be sure to use a lubricant and cover the wratchet end to make it easy in the spring and make the wratchet last for years even when left on exterior

LOL! I shoot my pump, filter, and heater with a couple of gal. RV antifreeze, and they can sit out all winter. Why take it apart, and drag it inside. It would have to get below -50 to hurt anything. Been doing it for yrs.
