Although music has been a part of Laura's life since childhood, 2006 is when her talents blossomed in a new direction. At that time, she was diagnosed with an illness called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), which caused her to be confined to a wheelchair for 4 years. This reality forced her to find new outlets and hobbies her body could handle. Laura's debilitating illness allowed the time and space for her musical world to cultivate. Her POTS is now manageable and she can enjoy all areas of life she wishes to discover!
I have pots and a genetic disorder similar to eds (it’s Loeys Dietz syndrome) and I have just started to skate. It has quickly became one of my favorite things to do even though I haven’t been able to do much since it is still winter/very wet outside. Is there anything you would recommend someone who has been struggling with staying active consistently because of pots and all the fun stuff that comes along with connective tissue disorders?
Swimming has been so huge for me to help keep up cardio and build muscle while I skate or if I need a break from and I injury! It's has helped bith my pots and eds :) keep pushing! Keep skating :)
