both pf these men are the genuine article, as Phillip seymour hoffman was RIP, and, although ethan is conventionally handsome, he is somehow also a great "character" actor

Translation 4° question: 25:47 It was difficult; it's a challenging story to tell. I always say that it seems there's no way to convey the story without experiencing a bit of pain, and indeed, there was pain. It was a shoot deeply connected to reality and sensations, with the body. Making the body available to the character, losing weight, enduring the cold, takes the performance to another level where you don't just release the character; your body becomes part of that character. Fortunately, there were all these very real elements that freed you from having to act them out; in the end, you worked a little less because the physical aspects were already there. You focused solely on the emotional and the complexity of the story and relationships. The beauty of putting your body at the character's disposal is that you start to discover that there are other things that are important, that some of what you believe to be pain and suffering isn't so real or crucial. There's something beyond that begins to matter, and one is capable of anything to reach that point."

Translation 3° question: 19:43 "I believe that no life remains the same after any experience; one always changes, learns, and becomes different. Undoubtedly, this was one of the greatest experiences of my life, not only in terms of professional growth and learning but also for immersing myself so deeply in a story that carries so much spirituality. We spent two years discussing life, death, friendship, love, family, being far away, and making friends while being far away. For instance, during the filming, I made 25 new friends. So many things changed, and it's impossible for this not to change you forever."

Translation 2° question: 11:51 "It is crucial because this story had been told before, but never with our voice. And a key aspect of the story, beyond the fact that it ultimately becomes a human story and it doesn't matter where it's from, there is still something about that that does matter, and that is that they are Uruguayans. There's a part of it that we understand more deeply. There's something about the language that was essential to better convey the story, for us to better understand the real people who went through it. "I think there's one less bridge or one less barrier when we tell it in the original language.

Translation 1° question: 9:10 While we were filming the movie, for us as actors, it weighed on us that the story was real. It felt like a responsibility. We knew that one day this movie would be seen by the real people who went through this and the families of the living and those who didn't return as well. And this idea, it was a concept that helped us push forward, facing the cold, facing the increasing hunger. Always remembering: 'This was real, someday people are going to see this.' It was a driving force. It took the performance to another level because it wasn't just about carrying your character, it wasn't just about telling the story, but knowing that one day the people who lived through it would see it. In this case, since weight loss wasn't just an aesthetic concern but a narrative one, a part of the story of what they were going through, it was crucial for us. We were willing to do anything for it. For instance, after shooting for 12 hours, eating very little, we had figured out a way to open the hotel gym at night to train. We ran for 20 minutes, as much as we could, to keep losing weight because the important thing was to tell this story well.

To be honest, the translation was not faithful (with all due respect for the interpreter). 🙊 What Enzo said was far deeper. The interpreter simplified or altered what Enzo said, and omitted parts (sadly, usually the parts that were the deepest).

Anyone watching this series should know that this is NOT Thomas Mallon's "Fellow Travelers." It's Ron Nyswaner's "Fellow Travelers" and the only thing it has in common with the novel is the names of the two main characters.

You do know, you aren't supposed to be recording the event, i presume you're in the union… obviously you were sitting in the audience, annoying the people around you while you had your phone on… I wonder if the union knows… the obnoxious thing about this is, eventually the actual legit video of the entire event will be on it… about no recording or photography… in case you missed the announcement before the host entered…
