This gig is a gem: it must've been one of the very early Oddballs gigs. No Stevie Klasson yet, Big Tony Coiro who is playing rhythm guitar, Johnny just splendiferous as always, great performance...
@@markwasthere appreciate it man yea I been on a mission lately I found some really hard to find links on pirate bay but the seeders are not available so I can’t download them I know there’s a few people out there that have tons of vhs recordings and I would pay cash for every lot if anyone wants some extra cash or would like to help out the channel and keep the thunders content rolling thru msg me on fb or email me
I love Thunders. What most people forget was that he was on a rock & roll odyssee for around 20(!) years.. If you look at his gig diary compiled by Alan Hauser of Jungle records, he was always playing! From 1971/72 until his death in 1991. Everyone would be so tired after all that time, but Johnny kept on playing. Happy, stoned, sick, or whatever, he was always there playing the gig! And sometimes they even rolled him on stage on a gurny (which was a bit theatrical too.. ;)
RIP Johnny, Anthony Big Tony C Coiro who I grew up with in the Bronx and Jamey one of the greatest R 'N R sax players I ever heard. The wonderful and talented Alison Gordy on vocals. I miss Anthony, Jamey and Johnny so much.💔❤🎚
@@asexualpistol it’s from this guy chip secombe I think his last name is there’s another clip of it online just type in Wayne Kramer Johnny thunders video it’s about 1min 39secs I believe
I used to have a VHS recorded of that Fear appearance; Around 1992, when Comedy Central was new, they dug out those old SNL shows from the 80s that hadn't been seen since the 80's. What's strange is Fear fades out and then we see a film of a pumpkin being carved with blood guts and eyeballs being scooped out.
PERFECT! Great video. I saw the Dead Boys, Talking Heads, and Blondie, and others at CBGBs in 77/78 in NY when I was like 19. Then my parents had to move us out of NY to fuckin' Florida in late 1978. I brought all their 8 track tapes with me and turned my new friends there onto this new music that come out of NY and England called Punk, They never heard of it. They loved it. It never caught on there. Until it turned into New Wave a few years later. Punk never caught on properly on Earth ever (until maybe Grunge in the 90s) which is criminal. Some of those original punk bands got popular by the 80s when they went New Wave. But the people who know, and the people who were, and are cool know how kick ass that stuff was. Oh well we still got the music.. I never did get to see The Ramones at CBs though, and they played there a million times back then. You can't have everything. Anyway, I Always thought that The Dead Boys, The Sex Pistols, and The New York Dolls were the best Punk bands ever. I still do...frankny66yroldwhitekid rockfan
Dude this was absolutely amazing. For me Johnny Thunders is one of the last true great Rock N Roll stars and The Heartbreakers one of the last true great Rock N Roll bands.
@zippymufo9765 np and no this is not from that version I wish I woulda known they did a version same time I did this one I did my best to brighten it up as much as I could but I haven’t upgraded to full upscaling yet once I got the right program imma be taking loads of old vhs tapes and convert them all to 4K
Artists and repertoire - They were basically "talent scouts" that would go to shows and con bands into signing terrible contracts with the major labels. A&R reps will promise you the moon. Nothing they say usually ends up in the final contract which they have nothing to do with. ....in a sense they are like military recruiters. They can tell you whatever (and plow you with beer and praise) but in the end you're screwed.
44:00 can anyone translate what sid said? Im not fluent in Smackanese The more he talks the more i want to listen. He said and did so much in just 21 years and it was really all condensed to 5 of those years. What a human
Why because they look similar?? David’s been in his own lane since the 70s so I don’t see it at all ppl would say him and Johnny were the new mick and Keith but imo the dolls and anything thunders did was waaaay more rock n roll than the stones
