Thank you for this very helpfuly Video! Is there anywhere in Distro or in Home Assistant community I can ask about my setup I have done, like this but to run my Ipad from a Very old monitor I have already installed into the wall and used the connectors you have here. But I think mine was a 12v adaptor but not 100% sure of it as I could not get to it in the attic to see what type I had used 20 years ago! SO I just went for it and The ipads are keeping charged which is great to run Medical items to show me on display. But I'm very new to soldering and lights, though all the times I haev tried to solder I mess it up and dont want to ne doign this on lights at £36 🙂 If any more tips will be great too. I also used a Linkstyle RV USB Outlet, QC3.0 USB A & USB C Ports Charging Socket Panel with LED Light for 12V/24V Car Marine Boat to bring the voltage down but not sure if this woudl be ok on your setup? Looking forward two your Home Assistant intergration too! Big thanks Not quite sure yet how these lights will look but tiem will tell 🙂 It be also hand to buy the case you have design too if there is a link? Also where do you get the driver download for this item?
This seems really complicated for what it is. Using homekit, the garage door opens just fine for me everytime as I'm coming into view of my house. Here is what I want to do though, and maybe someone can help me out. Occasionally I'm coming home from a walk, or in someone else's car. In that case, I don't want my garage to open. How can I use an apple airtag that's in my car with an ESP device to only run the command if my car isn't home? If someone can point me towards a video, that'd be great. Thanks!
Answering this: Yes, there is a new official Tesla Fleet integration in HA but it doesn't give realtime updates for arrival time. Yes, you can still use Tesla Custom integration by downloading through HACS.
Thread has been my biggest regret of the past year. Google hubs as TBRs, trying out Sonoff dongles with no luck, Thread Matter Bridges, etc. My Thread blinds have never consistently been online has been the biggest waste of money I've ever made. As of a week ago everything is offline and there seems to be nothing I can do. I warn against choosing Thread.
Just rewatching this now, and noticing a few things I missed first time round which are quite interesting. I like to revisit some videos and see new things each time :) Although the native Home Assistant cards are pretty good now, I still use mushroom also. It's well maintained and just has little tweaks and features that native cards in Home Assistant do not quite match yet. When I redo my dashbaord, I will actually create a completely new dashboard, so the old one stays as is, then develop it over a bit of time and when it is ready, I will change the default dashboard to the new one. By the way, You don't have to do a service call to reload the Themes. Go to Developer Tools and on the YAML tab, just click the item you want to reload, and if you can't find a specific one just click All yaml configuration and it will reload the entire yaml config and all sub files.
Question about the aqara FP2. Does yours see multiple presences in a room even when nobody is in their? Or does it bring up two beings in the room if your like for imstance laying in bed and your leg moves the other away. For me when that happens it makes theses presences move to areas that activate automations like my under bed LED strip lights. Does this happen with yours???
Well thats what companies get for trying to extort money from people .. And yes i called it extortion because i like to call things by it's correct name, selling you a product with certain features advertised and then remove them to force you subscribe their services is plain evil. On another note.. man do something about the way you integrate/connect those cables, it looks so clunky.
Great video, just wanna share a Pro tip, install the virtual machine manager on your synology and convert your Home assistant from the Raspberry Pi to a VM. That way you can take snapshots of your Home assistant. Plus you don't need to worry about all the read / write data that usually burn out your SD card in the Pi pretty soon.
I have a Meross left over in a box somewhere from when I was in a rental, and it just wired directly into the unit. Interesting that they changed it now so it uses that hacky approach? On the MyQ side, does RATGDO block the use of MyQ? I HATE what they've done but I do like having Amazon Key delivery into my garage.
The google chromecast option does not work. Only the original chromecast with google tv supports media state. The 4K and android TVs with google TV do not support media states as triggers.
I really want something like this but faster and more accurate for really tight sensing, like think specific locations in a single room. As well as the ability to recognize different devices and trigger things. Why? I want to do an art installation type setup that detects individual users in a given small display space and adjusts that space to the user it detects. Any thoughts?
Hey Read, I am a huge fan of your videos. I got all my smarthome advice and ideas by watching your videos. Very inspired by your videos so much so that I bought the Varla scooter after seeing your video. But have been extremely disappointed with company, Varla, and the scooter I recently bought. The scooter was delivered with faulty wiring and Im been trying to get it replaced through the company with no response. Do you have a direct connect with Varla?
Your cables don’t have a service loop inside of the walls? If you find one then you can pull it and cable out directly into the server rack. Possibly mount your rack to the wall high up to the left of your wall cabling door.
Has this recently stopped working for anyone else? Playing videos on my Nvidia Shield no longer triggers the scene, but other features work (Pause & Stop). I'm totally at a lost as to why :-(
Can anyone here tell me how one would go about getting the something like the device case Reed referenced? I do not have a 3D printer and would hate to spend the hours needed to learn how to use one. For me the best option would be pay someone else to do it.
BIG QUESTION: How can I add a logic level shifter in order to run a long line from the node to the first led strip? I see so many examples for 5v but nothing regarding 24v. Any input on how to wire that up properly?
I think there is a miss leading information regarding the M3 Hub as ONLY! matter/thread devices will have the high availability feature. Zigbee devices will not be able to run locally as well.
Great video, would love to hear more. Ring just upped my price to $98 for my home builder installed system with a Doorbell Camera and Alarm system. $49 each service paid for year in advance = $100 Frustrating because we bought our home in 2023. Anyway, I am giving them the boot at any cost. Its principle. So I jsut bought and installed an AWESOME Lorex 2K doorbell camera (actually works better than Ring) I bought a "Level Connect" device to control my Level Bolt door lock further removing me from the Ring dynasty. I also replaced my Honeywell Wave thermostat that was controlled with the ring app for a Honeywell WiFI thermostat installed curiosity of my electric utility. So all that is left is the Ring Alarm system and I need to do something fast as it will renew in 2 more weeks at now $49 since I got rid of the Ring Doorbell Camera. Very frustrating and I will make Amazon pay the rest of my life and still buy from them but Walmart+ will be first choice for everything as a punishment to Amazon. Sadly I am sure no many people like me.
I have owned my V2 for about 6 months now and Love It! I ride almost every day on and off road. I’m 68 years old and this is my first scooter. Yes it can be dangerous, but if you wear the gear you’ll be fine.
oh damn, using google home, bought this and only now found out automations don't work. This wasn't clear for me. This makes the device practicly useless for me...
