Your suggestion that the COHEN GADOL'S prayers should produce the desired result - but we know that what we desire is not always for our best. Since we cannot fathom the mind of G-D, then how do we know that what was prayed for, is actually good?:
There is a debate among the Chakhamim whether the Kohanim are the shalichim (emissaries) of Hashem or of the people. They conclude that the Kohanim are Hashem’s emissaries. Perhaps this applies to their prayers as well as their blessings and every other part of their ‘Avodah. There is a famous Gemara in which Rabbi Yishma’el, who was the Kohen Haggadol, reports to the Rabbanim to content of Hashem’s own “prayer” (to Himself, of course): “May it be My will before Me, that My attribute of mercy should prevail over My attribute of justice.”
Of course Hashem is infinitely above His emissaries, but He has set things up in such a way that the blessings of a Kohen are in general positive, powerful, and effectual.
Maybe the TIKUN during these three weeks has more to do with treating each other RESPECTFULLY, and realizing that we can learn something SIGNIFICANT from everyone - rather than what we have been practicing up until now! This goes a long way to counteracting the JUSTIFIED anger and hatred aroused when we do the opposite.
I was doing Qi-Gong for 5 years, the school that I went to called Ren-xue. They have nothing to do with religion, but they teach a lot about our patterns of behavior/perception that make us miserable/anxious/angry. At some point 3- 4 months ago I understood that most of their teaching I can find in Judaism. I started to listen to your shiurim and I found striking similarities between your and their teaching. Moreover, Ren Xue teacheng helps me to understand yours. When you talk about תאווה, קינא, כבוד, they talk about lack of joy, self interest and self identity. They talk about totality of life, as you talk about השפעה of studying Tora to fashion in Paris. They also talk how to replace self- interest and self-identity patterns with better patterns and how it can help with תיקון האולם.

I find what helps is to not watch the news and to join a daily lesson like Nach Yomi where everything that is happening today has been described and now you see it unfold before your eyes. My point is that the more we take from the popular culture, the more pain and negativity we absorb. I'm not a seriously educated person, I'm only speaking from my own experience.

With all due respect, kvod harav, I think perhaps the rav is not understanding the meaning of Make America Great Again. He doesn't mean prosperous in the material sense (of course that's part of it, and without being prosperous, she can't be strong), but I think that what you're saying is exactly what President Trump means. There's so much behind that phrase. You can see it in every speech he gives, he lists a whole bunch of things that he wants to do that is encapsulated in that phrase. One of those being to be a leader once again on the global stage for goodness, morality, truth and a recognition that we are ultimately under the control of a higher power and He wants us all to be a force for good in the world. President Trump recognizes that that can only happen when America leads with strength and moral clarity. In all fairness, I don't think he "gets it wrong" at all with the concept of Make America Great Again". Shabbat shalom
