like your meat choices, think of adding some boullion cubes with unsalted crackers. like carrs water crackers. 'knorr' & 'emcampe' make a variety of boullion flavors.
next is a orange flavored apple cider. again 2 packs cider to 1 orange. today it was the regular alpine apple cider. coming up is the sugar free alpine cider mix. on the horizin is mixing on a 1 to 1 ratio of the land-o-lakes line up of single serving mixes. looking forward to a orange irish creme or a orange mint. land-o-lakes has in their line up - a blueberry, hazelnut, raspberry, white, mint, supreme. all as single severe envelopes. found yesterday a company named 'umlands' out of ill. they are doing a freeze-dried cheese curds. found them in the hot bar area by the soups. cheese's available are cheddar, gouda & pepperjack. check the bike sections of your local sporting goods stores for the energy drinks / foods.
now onto the orange hot chocolate. the brits add flavored hot chocolate mixes to their mres. most of the following will be making a 16 oz cup using a soup cup. the exception is a orange drink mix made by 'cool-off' found in xmre mres, only makes 8oz. so 1 packet hot cocoa mix here. trader joe's hot chocolate mix is in stick form, makes a good candy bar. if you like a bitter hot chocolate this one is for you. i had to add a couple of tsp sugar for my taste. on the orange side - orange food extract leaves a alcohol after taste (use for evening adult beverages) . thawed frozen oj concentrate 3 tablespoons to 2 packets mix ( mix = land-o-lakes supreme or swiss-miss dark. have moved onto trying the crystal light drink mix orange tangerine, (1 pack = 16 oz.) hence the soup cup at 16 oz. again i brew this up by heating 1 cup water an topping off with tap water. have crystal light classic orange & citrus to try over the next few days.
other recipes; walmart last year had some brazilian herford beef in a variety of make ups. taco pot roast w/ gravy, beef tips & a couple more. haven't seen them this year. check your canned meat section.
i'm like you, not a coffee drinker even after 20 yrs in the army as a army sailor. my caffine came from mt dew. now on to some recipes. i had a year tour in panama, sailed for a skipper i had state side. my locker onboard was the size of a milk crate. to get my caffine i did what our chief engineer coin as quart a cocoa time. take 1 cup hot water add about 5 packs hot chocolate mix to the water . stir & mix well. top off the 1 quart cup with ice, when full of ice add cold water to finish off. ice cold quart of cocoa.
Something I added to my go bag with my MREs and basic gear are a couple of the cheap plastic bowls, cups, and cheap silverware from Walmart, a tea towel and a little 4oz bottle of dish soap. It really changes my moral and mindset when I don't have to eat everything out of pouches and crackling water bottles for days on end.
HOW MANY CALORIES? calories are more important than price, because living in another state i can go to the same stores and get the same thing with a different price. THE CALORIES STAY THE SAME. And is much more important in an emergency.
There are many reasons to have sunglasses in a survival situation. In the sun they offer reduced eyestrain, they help with glare, and offer clarity. They can also help keep things from getting into your eyes, such as sand, dirt, dust, rain, etc..
Very happy to see the progress you have made there. I am all about help not hate if you would like any advice at all on small things you could do to improve the safety of your family please respond to me if you read this I do mean affordable but almost necessary improvements to keep you and your family safe
Just noticed that you have an update on the cabin and land so I'm about to watch it to see if I still feel there could be slight improvements only to keep your family safe
I truly applaud you for your efforts in all you have done. I 100% want you and your family to be safe. I would truely be supized if you live of then than i do ea
I love the idea a building something within a reasonable price. I can build as a small but comfortable Little Getaway cabin in the woods just for the enjoyment I'm getting away at times and enjoying nature.
I’m not a scientist or anything and I want to believe it was a solar flare, but I feel like if it was strong enough to take out cell phones it would’ve also taken out things like the internet in general. I do think it was a test on our system. I don’t know who, but I think it was a test to see how fast we would get everything back. I also think with systems down they had an easier chance to get inside and look at certain information.
Thanks for the comment! You can use a knife, but the metal striker that came with it should have been sufficient enough to cause a spark from the ferro rod. We don’t recommend the style of striker in this video, however in the next Temu video you’ll see one that worked perfectly.
Except you were using the bottle opener to scrape which makes it a worthless test because I'll be honest but all of mine that come straight from China work....
Most of the things you buy come from China and a lot of there items were of decent material and well worth the cost savings. We will be further testing some of the items in the near future.
