It's a pity once you add all the really necessary bits to the bare boat the price gets really high. I wonder if it would be possible to just install a 'rib type' jockey console a bit further forward to get going a bit cheaper.
Hello, thank you for your comments. For customers on more of a budget a tiller controled engine without a console is a good option for the Pioner 15 Allround. What would you be using the boat for? Thanks, James
Thank you for your comment. The vessel would not plane with a 9.9HP, I would not suggest anything lower than a 25HP if you need the vessel to plane. If you just just require the vessel to manouver at lower speeds only then the 9.9HP will be fine. It really depends on the application and how loaded the boat will be. What would you be using her for? Kind regards, James
Which pioneer model would you ultimately recommend for spearfishing in the west coast of Norway? The main thing I’m looking for is a model that can handle rough seas in the given situation I’m accidently caught in bad weather. Considering the flexi and the multi however I’ve already read reviews of bad times in choppy seas. Thanks!
Thank you for your feedback! I agree our pronounciation is not great but we are a bit long in the tooth now to change! What is your favourite Pioner model? Thanks, James
@@FSboy70 Grateful thanks for your information, I know Mr Broom passed but not sure if company was bought over, however they certainly made excellent quality boats , this one is no exception, all good. Thanks
Hello, Thank you for your comments. We used the Respo 8571 and used extension arms so that the boat did not rest on the mud guards. Do you own a Steady 400? Many thanks, James
@@caley-marina Yes, I own a Steady 400, and having a little trouble finding a good trailer for it. Is the extensions fitted only on the side rails/ bars or also on the keel rollers? At 1:10 the front seems to be higher than in other pictures I see on this model. Are the extension arms supplied by Respo or custom fitted? Best, Krister
@@kristerhallkvist2364 Hi Krister, the brackets are supplied by Respo- your local stockist should be able to order them in for you. We found this solution worked quite well for the Steady 400. What do you use the boat for? Kind regards, James
@@caley-marina Hi James. Thank you for your support. I will contact the Swedish supplier and see if they are able to help me out. We use the boat only for fun with the family. Best, Kriste
The wide console is a good option and you will see on our 'Build a Boat' site that it is well positioned. Currently, we have no videos but we may make one in the future. Do you own a boat? Kind regards, James
Pioner are currently in the process of expanding into the US but the moment there is no confirmation of where/when. We have xported boats to the US in the past however, since COVID, shipping has been prohibitively expensive. Where in the US are you based? Kind regards, James
Have the same boat without the steering console, same engine and the lightest 25hp made to date, I love that engine. I live in northern Norway and have had 5 people in a boat with weight and managed to get the boat level but it was slow, 2 were children 3 adults with baggage so we were very heavily loaded. if i changed to the propeller that came with the engine i would have no problem at all. But when I was alone with that propeller, I hit the rev limiter and maxed out at 23 knots, but also managed almost the same with a full boat hehe. max speed with the propeller I use now is around 25 knots depends on the current and the wind a little more and sometimes less when I'm alone, but the boat is always good for 20 knots still with full boat. I have some scratches underneath that I would like to get rid of, so if you have a good tip on how to do that, I'd be happy. The boat is very low maintenance and sun resistant and I can handle the boat alone where we have it, I had someone build me a sled last year that helps me get it up and down without scratching the bottom, should I wish I had it before haha. The boat without an engine is 220 kilos and around 60 kilos more with the 25 horsepower from Yamaha. It's not the lightest boat and row but it works. The boat is a bit flat underneath so it can hit a bit in high seas but drive according to the conditions then there is no problem but a little load in the boat will be a bit better too, But it is very stable and safe 172 cm wide. so all in all I love this boat and will probably buy the same boat next time but with a steering console like in the video :)

If you haven't seen Apetor's (now sadly dead) youtube channel - he owned a 17 laterally which was why I ended up researching and buying the 16 from Caley. The 16 I've got was the demo model that James used in a previous video. These boats are incredibly durable. Fantastic deck space compared to RHIB I previously owned. Many positives but if you want a frank criticism the hull design does mean it slams at speed in choppy water compared to a deep V hull. Having said that I have not had a shot at the 17 (yet) and it looks a bit more like it'll cut through the water. James - give me a shout when this one is ready for selling !!!
Hello Ali, Thank you for your comments, I had not come across Apetor's channel before- he seemed like an interesting chap! This vessel is now on the market for selling so feel free to give us a shout or pop in next time you are through in Inverness. Kind regards, James
Hello Derek, Thank you for your comments, we agree, we would like to film these boats in more testing conditions which they are truly designed for. However, there is a bit of health and safety to be considered. We hope to do something soon! Are you interested in the 14 Active? Kind regards, James
Hello John, Thank you for your comments- this boat would be a great tender due to it's generous space, storage and low maintenance. An approximate weight with full accessories would be 320KG however, I have never tested this. Where are you based? Kind regards, James
I am in Virginia, USA. Not personally in the market for a Pioner at this time but am very interested in them and have been talking up HDPE boats to my fishing and boating friends in eastern North Carolina. Lots of great waters in their region called the Outer Banks which I think would be great for this boat. Chesapeake Bay as well with its many creeks and rivers. @@caley-marina
LOW LIGHT, BOAT COLOR DOES NOT HELP, CAMERA SHOULD BE HIGHER TO SHOW THE INNER BOAT. APART FROM THOSE, NICE BOAT SEEMS DURABLE AND HOPE THAT IS CAPABLE TO TRAVEL IN HIGH WAVES,👍👍👍
Hello Jim, Thank you for your comments, we would recommend power washing the boat/possibly steam washing too. If this does not work you may be required to hand scrape the vessel. You can antifoul the boat however, the surface needs to be clean. Pioner have an antifouling guide if you wish to contact your local dealer. Where if your boat based? Kind regards, James
Hey, thinking about investing in a Pioner Multi to take small groups out for whale watching in protected waters, not more than 2 km from shore. Would you consider that boat useful for that. I am thinking about getting custom made benches along the side instead of the standard boxes to leave a bit more deck space. Would love input.
Hello, Thank you for your comments, the boats are rated for Category C waters so it is best to see how the water you intend to use the boat in is categorised. Where are you based? Kind regards, James
Hello Kieran, Thank you for your comment, the Multi is a very good sea going vessel with it's catamaran hull shape. Unfortunately, we have no videos to demonstrate this. Where are you based, perhaps you could try one? Kind regards, James
Hello, There are no importers to Malaysia for Pioner boats. However, we have exported vessels in the past so if you contact us through the website we can try to help. Kind regards, James
i have this with a 9,8 Tohatsu, i have some tips on it, extend the tiller, put 2 solid boxes in plastic, the high storage boxes to put over the tank, ropes in each hole in front, and if using it alone you sit high, using the ropes as security, extend the lanyard and if like, a rope to fix the boxes so yoy sit steady when drive longer trips, then weight is in front mid section and stable drive with no "haunting" in the hull. If 2 persons, take some field mats etc , cut them in same as the back bench and sit higher, then the boat is great. Next spring i make a video on this. Te boat deals it all, high waves from crusieboats and so on is no problem.
The helm needs to be further towards the front. This will help with planning if you are by yourself. I noticed at :59 seconds of the video the boat is no where near being on plane. A gust of wind could make this boat flip very easy.
Hello, thank you for your comments, apologies- I seemed to miss this one. This boat plane's extremely easiesly and has no problem planining with one person on board- this would only be a problem on a much smaller boat with a heavy outboard onboard. I appreciate your concerns but Pioner boats are tested to extreme safety regulations above and beyond the European standards and therefore are highly unlikley to 'flip.' What is your favourite Pioner boat? Kind regards, James
@caley-marina I still stand by my statement because I saw it and your video. I also do not think it will take rough conditions like lake, Erie. Or the great lakes. I'm a fisherman and it's all wrong for fishing
Why not be able to open those storage boxes with seat cushion from the top? You could get bigger things in. Also what about mounting a min kota trolling moter with spot lock & somewhere to put fishing rods while trolling. I think for fishing the helm is to far back. Than again I fish the great lakes in Michigan so we are used to a different design of boat
Hello! Thank you for your feedback. Your idea regarding the boxes is a good one, I can feed this back to the manufacturer. Pioner boats are infinitely customisable and can be deisgned to each customer's tailored needs. What type of boat do you normally fish on? Kind regards, James
Hello Joe, The 16 Explorer had not been released when we made this video however, you should find other in depth video discussion on this model from other content on our channel. Thanks, James
@@caley-marina Hi James, I’m living on Guernsey and going to the Southampton boat show. Do you know if there will be any Pioner boats on display there this year? I’d love to see the 16 Explorer! Thanks 😊
@@joevlogstravels sorry for the delayed response! Unfortunately, we will not be at the show this year however, feel free to contact any of our Pioner dealers to see what stock they have available. We currently have the Pioner 17 Flexi, 14 Active, 10 Classic, 13 and Multi's available for viewing in our Inverness office. Kind regards, James
Hello! Can you please tell me the exact dimensions of the gas tank in this boat! Because we have to know which battery we could use for our ePropolsion! And maybe you could tell me the exact height of the box please! Have a nice day and thanks in advance!
I expected more too indeed. I run 26/27 knots too with a terhi sea fun with a carbureted 20hp tohatsu fourstroke. Still trying to find a good next boat (little bigger) but those are seriously hard to find. And then still, my current boat has 60nm range on a 12l tank, which is also hard to beat
They are great boats Just bought one last week in the netherlands. Just too bad the stickers came off the second day. The outside hull has a rough texture. Also found the bottom floor wasnt that deep and it was quite scary going up the north sea. It does handle great in corners!
Hi Melvin, Thank you for your comments, if you contact your local dealer they should be able to reapply the stickers for you. The hull is a shallow draught but you should find it more than capable in Category C waters. Enjoy! James
Hi Peter, Thank you for your comments, although Polyethylene is very durable all materials do have their limitations. However, we see our boats used in the toughest commercial environments and come away with light abrasion on the surfaces. Therefore, we see rotationally moulded polyethylene to be one of the toughest hull types out there. Thanks, James
