@analognoise2893
@analognoise2893 12 дней назад
I ended up selling the T90 but if you're curious, the Weight is ridiculous and the camera body itself is huge. Excellent camera but the F-1n is 90% as good with about 50% of the weight and bulk. The camera was a lot of fun though, basically had everything you could ever need and DX code reading on an FD mount canon was my favourite feature

Are they truly so unreliable? I really want to buy one but you make it sound like they're going to break after a couple of rolls of film. And they're really not that cheap on eBay right now. Body only is going for like £30 and with a lens it goes as high as £50-60. I know that's not super expensive but I don't wanna waste my money on future landfill.
@analognoise2893
@analognoise2893 4 месяца назад
Hi, The sad truth about these later electronic cameras are that they will always be destined for landfill. There's a lot of things that can go wrong and they're not economical to repair once they do. If you are set on the canon FD system I'd get an A or F series camera as they are mostly mechanical and not electronic. However, if you can find one of these that is confirmed to be working and a good price there's no reason not to go for it.

@kilianhzh

To be honest, i find the t50 pretty annoying. Half of the time you will get one with a broken battery door, the others had either leaky batteries or something else fried the electronics. The viewfinder is nice and bright though. For analog beginners I‘d pretty much suggest any camera other than the t50. It is just so annoying to hunt for one in decent condition. If you spend the same amount of time looking for cameras you can easily find a canon eos body+lens, probably in better condition for the same price. It doesn’t look retro, but you can actually learn how to use a camera on them.

What’s the ideal film to shoot daytime ?
@analognoise2893
@analognoise2893 8 месяцев назад
anything with an ISO of below 200, the general rule is more Light = lower ISO. I like Fuji C200, Kodak Gold and Colourplus, and also Portra 160. However if you're going in between outdoors and indoors 400 is a good in between, Portra 400 being a good film at that ISO

Hi. Thanks the great review. I just picked up a TVS and my frame counter LCD has a bit of a leaking issue. I’m wondering how you were able to replace yours? Do you happen to have instruction for this somewhere? Thanks!

@analognoise2893 9 месяцев назад
Hi Ross, I had a look and can't locate any guides for this, unfortunately. However, this can be done relatively easily. Once you get the top plate off you can disassemble the LCD assembly which I believe might not even need screws, drop the new LCD in and then re-assemble.

My dumb teenage ass got hyped 10 years ago by this camera, bought a whole set to a neighbour for 100€ (camera + 50mm lens + telescopic lens + flash + couple glare and uv lens + 5 films). I used 2 films and after that phones became popular to photograph. Today i digged it from my closet and giving it a try again. This video was amazing to fully understand it

Something I always forget is that it doesn't have an aperture priority mode, makes u wonder why someone chooses it over the A-1 then considering it's usually more expensive for some reason

Such a good video, everything you need to know about it and well put, also the pacing is perfect, not too breef nor too long to loose focus, will be watching more As for theT50 I've got it a couple of weeks ago, I think everything works (other than the computer that is, I'll need to shoot with it to know that), tbh I haven't been looking at it seriously but I really wanted the 50mm f/1.8 prime lens with it so I bought the whole thing for 40€. Haven't had a chance to go shoot with it yet but I guess it could be a nice camera with a cheap(er) film in it such as Gold200 because just a few days back I was at a mountain with beautiful autumn colours yet I had a black&white film in my A-1, seems like a perfect thing for a T50 in the bag for just in case. Considering I've gotten into film photography just a couple of months ago I'm quite happy with the collection so far, first got the A-1 with the zoom 35-70mm f/4 lens, then the 299T flash (for just 10€ I couldn't believe it) and now the T50, I guess the next thing would either be a 28mm FD lens or perhaps Canonet QL17 GIII, really wondering about the rangefinder experience, and the holy grail would be a FTb QL just because it's fully manual, no electronics except the lightmeter and also no plastics in the build as there is in the A and T series
@analognoise2893
@analognoise2893 11 месяцев назад
Awesome stuff mate, thanks for the nice remarks and it sounds like you've got a good collection of FD Bodies and lenses. I own the QL17 GIII but the rangefinder patch is very very dim and the camera isn't really for me, I purchased it a couple years ago and have never used it. If you want a fully manual FD body I would lean more towards the Canon F-1 if you want something of High Quality. The F series uses the same lenses but was the pinnacle of Canon at the time, if you can get it with the 50mm F.14 even better!

Every sx-70 camera is a little bit different. Some of the light meter windows or darker somewhere lighter. One of My SX-70s exposes fairly leaving the dial in the middle with the modern film.
@analognoise2893
@analognoise2893 11 месяцев назад
while this can be true yours is likely darker due to oxidisation on the electric eye, this happens to all sx-70s. Mine had a service last year and was cleaned, meaning it is closest to a new sx-70 in terms of functionality. More oxidation will result in an inaccurate light meter reading

Hello, helping pay for my son’s college so we are going through a camera collection someone gave my son. We sold a broken T50 for $30 about a month ago. Batteries wouldn’t get it started with foil held in place as the door was missing. Today we found another one, door intact but batteries corroded inside. I got them out, cleaned it with alcohol, and it takes a photo. I also have the original box and all the paperwork inside. How much is that all worth, do you suspect?
@analognoise2893
@analognoise2893 Год назад
The camera itself is not worth a lot, especially if it has evidence of corrosion. My camera is pristine and was only $40 Australian dollars. The box and paperwork may boost the value up a bit but I only see it being worth maybe $100 ish. If you have found any lenses, that is where the value is.
@michaelknight1303
@michaelknight1303 Год назад
@@analognoise2893 we have some lenses, I’m getting to that box soon. You mean a lens the over and above the one on the camera, I assume. There is a 1983 catalog in the box for Canon lenses, and a guide for the T244 flash, but currently I’m not sure if we actually have either. I see a T50 and T244 combo on eBay for $30. So sounds about right.

Portunity to purchase an open box TVS for what I believe is a fair deal. Can I assume that if one is an unused condition. Will the ribbon cable be good since its been unmolested.

From what I've heard that's a less than ideal situation because lack of use can cause the cable to become more brittle.

I couldn't find any instructions either, I ended up watching Casio watch repair videos. In short, all the parts are drop-in. The flash LCD is soldered on but the counter is very straightforward. Just remove the main screw and you'll be able to lift everything out.

I’ll be trying out packfilm for the first time soon. Got some 2014 cold stored FP-100C and two packs of 2009 cold stored 664. I’ve got two cameras on the way including a Polaroid 103, not sure how good a camera it is but it doesn’t look too bad, just need to work out the exposure battery situation.
@analognoise2893
@analognoise2893 2 года назад
This will probably start your addiction to Pack-film like it did for me. The battery is definitely something to think of, I managed to avoid it because the 180 is fully manual. A thing to keep in mind as well is, check your bellows. Make sure they’re light-tight.

Great review and fantastic presentation. My top tip with this camera is always running it in aperture priority mode set at f5.6 - this seems to be the absolute sweet spot for this lens. In fact f5.6 is highlighted by Contax in green on the aperture ring - probably for this exact reason? Shooting ISO 200 film at f5.6 on a sunny day requires fitting a ND2 or ND4 30.5mm neutral density filter to the lens and adjusting exposure comp +1 or +2, otherwise if the camera requires a shutter speed over 1/500th in full sunshine - it will default to Programme mode and use f11 / f16, which is not ideal. It's a fantastic camera, really ergonomic and amazingly well built. The TVS was originally more expensive than the T2 when new - and it's not hard to see why.
@analognoise2893
@analognoise2893 2 года назад
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed. Yes the lens can be incredibly sharp, certain photos blow me away. Especially when using sharper film. The TVS is fantastic and just for an extra stop of light it’s definitely worth saving your money.
