Thanks for this. I've had a few of these performed in the past month or so. The doctor performing it said he was basically just jamming a needle back and forth inside the lesion. I now see that it was exactly what he was doing... Neato.

The third set of slide preperations are what we call "touch preps" because you simply touch the bone plug to the slide. Again, in this video they were very messy. You aren't supposed to roll the plug around that vigourously because you will lose the cells and the plug could break. This is the most important part of the biopsy as cross sections of it are vital for diagnosis. There should be 4-8 straight lines on a touch prep slide.
The second smears were supposed to be "pushed smears" but they weren't done very well. The marrow is supposed to spread out evenly behind the pusher so you get a nice even feathered edge at the end of the push.
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know a way to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the login password. I love any help you can give me.

I work at a level trauma hospital with a nationally ranked Oncology/Hematology department and Cancer Center; when I saw we in the following statements I am referring to the procedure is performed there. The first smears are what we call "crush preps" because it crushes the spicules. It is not an actual "pushed smear" which is what most people are used to seeing.
