Great video! I had a leaking pressure switch, cleaned up the check valve of some corrosion and problem solved. 10 minutes of effort got me up and running again. Thanks for posting!
If you have replaced the check valve and replaced the pressure switch and still have air leaking through the unloader valve on the pressure switch, then you may need to make a slight adjustment in the clearance between the pin at the end of the unloader valve and the paddle switch. I had this problem with a switch on a Senco 0968 compressor that is like the black one in this video. The pressure switch has a small lever or paddle that pushes a pin at the end of the unloader valve when it shuts off. If the unloader valve leaks air after the compressor shuts off and keeps bleeding the pressure down to zero through the unloader valve, check the adjustment between the pin and the paddle. There is a nut just behind the pin on the unloader valve that offers some adjustment and there is a screw that secures the unloader valve to the pressure switch housing that also offers some adjustment. The adjustment needed is slight but it can correct the leak and allow the compressor to hold pressure. Worked for me.
What I am seeing is, my exhaust valve is leaking when the compressor starts up. So the whole time it's running, the exhaust valve is leaking. But when it shuts off, the exhaust valve stops leaking and everything works as normal. What would this be?
A phenomenal video you've created for us "NEWBIES" when it comes to the various different types of air compressor hoses and their composition, as well. GREAT INFO to be armed with and know when deciding or deliberating on which type of hose is best for our specific needs or type of applications, as well. Thanks brother!!
I have a question, btw, I liked and subscribed because you are very knowledgeable about something I need help with. Well, here goes, I added a series of copper lines (and a water separator just before the tank) in a grid on the wall for cooling, about 70 feet in between the compressor head and the tank to get rid of all the water. When I did, the line isn't letting the check close until all that air in that line empties. The 70 ft. of copper line takes about 3 minutes to bleed out thus wasting a fair amount of air. Is there anyway to fix this and is this doing any harm to my compressor? It did get rid of almost all of the water out of the tank, btw.
Can a load genie be replaced with a conventional check valve if I replace the switch with one that has the 1/4" unloader nipple on it? My old Speedaire doesn't even have a switch. It just plugs in and goes. I like it because it's a quiet oil pump type so I'm hoping to save it. The noise coming off the load genie sounds like a blown rod bearing on a car.
lol... "I want to buy this brother a beer..." lol. my sentiments exactly - but not a beer. He needs to stay sober so he can guide the rest of us rookies into how to do these things accurately. Greg [garden grove, CA usa]
I just replaced my precious switch on my campbell house field compressor. I turn the compressor on and it fills up to a 120 P, S, I, then shuts off.....then the unloader starts leaking until the pressure drops to 100 psi then it stops leaking????????
I was always told the poly hose is what you need as a carpenter and I’ll admit that they are tough but they are harder to roll out and roll up. It’s not the biggest issue but u can’t just wrap it up like a power cord all easy how ever you want, I love pvc personally it cheap, flexible and easy kinda like my taste in women but I recently stole a dewalt hybrid from trim and finish crew (they had it coming bunch of A holes, I don’t feel bad about it whatsoever) anyway it’s quickly becoming my favorite n go to hose .next time I go to buy a new one I’ll get a hybrid hose not a dewalt tho I’d be more than happy with a harbor freight one
Really dude? A 20-second intro + having to listen to you say 'Uh' or 'Umm' _literally_ *every single time* you pause or start a new sentence?? Umm, yeah...no thanks
I would like to inflate multiple paddleboards as fast as possible, each up to 15 psi, with the lowest noise as possible. With the proper adapters, which compressor do you recommend? TIA
A "High Volume Low Pressure" painting rig has a high volume 120V 60 cycle TURBINE compressor (I think its more of a regenerative air pump but anyway not important) that would be ideal for you.
Had a bad check value so i replaced it. Now the compressor pumps up to 125lbs, then over a 3 or 4 hour period it leaks back to 110lbs. Then it stays there. I was wondering if i took it apart and stretched the new spring a little would it help? Please help if you can
Hello, and thank you for your very informative videos. I have a question, I purchased an 60 Gallon air compressor that is 230V/ 14A. I don't have 230 service in my garage, what breaker and what type /gauge wire do I need. Thanks!
I had a craftsman oilless 6hp 60 gal compressor since 94’ and have rebuilt the pump already but am tired of the noise and figured since the motor is good just tear the compressor portion off and get a H.F.5 hp pump and slap em together and good to go only after I got the pump I and started getting into it I find out the motor is only 15 amps and no where close to 6 hp..my question is can I just use it as a special 5 hp and spin it a little faster to make up the difference?if you can and will answer I appreciate it thank you.
Great info and clarification! Thank you. I had thought I needed a 2 stage and would kick on less and not work so hard overall. I don't need a lot of pressure, we use a couple of air tools and blow off a lot with open air so I just need the compressor to quit kicking on so much even with a 60 gallon tank which we have had. The motors always seem to go south though and even the step up on quality reviews like IR seem to be garbage .
I have a problem. They dropped the compressor and broke the flywheel. How do you go from a tapered end to make it a straight shaft which would fit the new flywheel ? Everything is good on the compressor. It's a 60 gallon Single stage. Some say to press the appropriate bushing onto the tapered shaft or do you just change the whole shaft ? Much thanks.
i am going to convert my 30 gal direct drive too belt drive for noise and better air cycle. Anything to keep in mind? Can i purchase a 2 stage pump that can be controlled by my stock 150 psi regulator?
Thank you! 😊 Perfect explanation I watched two other videos before this one and neither of them explained what I was looking for you did that and then some thank you!
