Welcome, Friend! I am Jenn, and I am on a journey of reselling thrifted items on eBay. I post videos about what it is like to be a new, part-time reseller including thrift hauls, what sold videos, and vlog style videos.
I’ve had some pretty good eBay sales, but it does go up and down. Last weekend was really slow but I do generally do probably 70% of my sales on eBay but then I started getting all these returns like I’ve had five returns in the last two weeks, which is unusual I usually get very few of them so I don’t know what’s going on, but all of them were fit. She said she didn’t want the sweater was a sweater because in the photos it looked ready to wear and when I sent it, she was mad that it was wrinkled🤷🏻♀️
I look for quality fabric and either classic or very quirky design ;-) A question you might say something about in a video: Sometimes when I list an item, eBay has already suggested a price in the «buy it now» section, and it also says the average sold price in a square next to it. Sometimes I really do not think that is accurate at all, is that maybe because I have used the wrong words in the title or description, so the «system» thinks it is something else? Or is it just me that has done a bad research job before listing it?
I found the most effective way for me to “research” is to use eBay. I will go on there when the seasons change and type things Iike “jeans” or “sweater”. I filter for what sold over $50 and just look. Usually that gives you a good idea what people are looking for. I will also watch a few RU-vidrs who talk about trends and I subscribe to a reasonable amount of stores who always send me emails with their new styles. I peek at them just to see what they are putting up for sale so I can get an idea what people are looking for. 😊
I look for quality fabrics and good tags. If I don’t know the Brand I do my comps. Check sell through rate and decide if I can make at least four times the buy in price. Living in a small College town gives me time to check out what the students are wearing while I’m on my daily walk to the post office. y2K still seems in style.
We are struggling with it. All we have is eBay and google and learning every day from you and other infusers. Hope we can sale something soon. We feel like we are under a black cloud. We have posted two items a day for three weeks now. Just pushing forward have a great weekend
I just wanted to say that you have to keep pushing through. 2 items a day for about three weeks is only 40 something items. I feel like once you get over 100 eBay should kick in and you’ll start to see some consistency. You’ll also gain more traction once a couple things have sold and you have positive feedback. I think out of all the platforms eBay is that hardest to start out on. If you can, try to cross list at least one other place. Soon you will start to learn what to look for. When I started in 2020, I made horrible buying choices! I think I still have many of them lol. Now when I hand pick my inventory much of it will sell in 90 days. Hang in there!
The young adults these days are wearing those Victoria secrets slip nighties as tops and dresses these days! They’re actually quite on trend and can go like hot cakes if they’re listed as “slip dress” or similar.
At the waffle house this morning, a teenager was wearing only a sweatshirt. It barely covered the bottom of her butt. Totally inappropriate. And no there were no leggings or shorts.
That denim jacket is giving off coastal cowgirl vibes❤️ I’m surprised it took a little awhile to sell. Any tips on using calculated shipping? I just sold a blazer that was a little steep on the shipping…I went from setting the shipping price on every listing I did to a flat rate based on location of the US to calculated shipping. I don’t want to overcharge but the flat rate shipping table I seemed to lose a few dollars on the shipping on some items.
I think the best tip with calculated shipping is to make sure your weight and package measurements are correct in your listing. For a while, there was some default setting that would make one of the measurements 25”, which would make the shipping crazy high. If I missed changing it, the item would never sell.
Really cool find on the pants. Maybe you should split the profits with your daughter or take her with you more often!! BTW, I wouldn’t have known that they were Taylor Swift pants😂
Oh no! It’s probably not for everyone, but if you are enjoying it, then I would encourage you to stay at it for a bit. It takes a while to get consistent sales. You can do it!
Nothing sold for me Tuesday but I sold a couple things today. I hit my goal for the month so I'm just coasting now. Lol I like the variety you offer, Jen. High STR's are nice but they're not everything. I know you know that! Hoping everyone has a good wrap to the month! 🎉
I’ve seen everyone saying eBay was slow. I’m not a reseller but I love seeing content. And I love thrifting. What is the link to your Poshmark store? I search you and couldn’t find you.
Hi Jenn, my Ebay sales have been slow, too! I love watching your channel and get encouraged to keep going. Glad you had a great weekend with your family!
Drama can be very interesting to watch. As long as it doesn't involve myself. Lol I use recycled shipping supplies too. Might as well puts more $ in your pocket. Removing items that aren't moving is a tax right off so why take up space when you can remove them and make room for items that will make you profit. I have to go through and purge stuff I've had since 2022. Maybe that should be Oct challenge, take the plunge and purge non moving stuff. 😊
Good morning. Just watched your video! Kudos on the great sales. We have been selling mainly on eBay, Poshmark and Mercari. We added Depop a couple of months ago, but not much goin on there. We like Mercari better for our 3rd option and will probably drop Depop after the holidays. Have a great day Lynn Kelley
Same here! eBay was SOOO slow. Last week was the worst week I’ve had all year aside from when I was on vacation. Poshmark was slow also even with offers sent out. This week feels like it may be worse. Hoping things pick up!
Great sales like always. My sales are awesome during the week weekends they die it’s weird. Have u try curtsy since u have Poshmark all your listings synch when u list. So u don’t have to worry about cross listing. Only thing u have to go change weights because it’s like eBay they go by weight. always enjoy your videos hope your son feels better.
