If your dash cam does not use more than 5V, 3A then based on the specifications of the FitDVR, it should work. Where did you get info on your dash cam needing 5V @ 3A? EDIT: I do find it strange that your dash cam uses that much. Most don't use that much. What brand and model do you have?
Of course you can find cheaper bags online. Oftentimes DIY can cost you more in money and especially a lot of labor. Mass production of things will drive down unit price due to scale. The manufacturers often have deals on items used to manufacture the product that an individual cannot get. Plus they pay less for the labor. When you do something DIY it can cost less if you can find a good deal on the items used to manufacture. But what most people may not realize is they are going to spend their valuable time on it. They are using their time to make the product and that time comes at a cost. How much money is their time worth? For some it may be worth it to make their own because they get to customize it the way they want. They may also get satisfaction in doing it themselves. Whatever is important to the individual is really up to them. If you want to buy it, then buy it. If you want to make it, then make it. The choice is yours. We have the DIY in the video and also links to purchase in the video description. You are free to choose... And free to choose to do nothing too.
You would need a battery that is very large and take a long time to charge fully. It also won't last 1 month... Much more like a day at most. Plus Lithium-ion batteries hate the heat under the windshield or in the car. This causes them to bulge and become a fire hazard. That's why dash cams no longer come with batteries installed. Typically, those types of security cameras only record if they detect motion using heat signatures. Issue is that you won't have 24x7 recordings. Plus these cameras only start recording once motion is detected. This means you can miss parts of what has happened. Also, those PIR sensors that use heat to detect motion will not be able to detect motion behind the glass windshield. Therefore no recordings.
@@FrakkingCreations good point. Just trying to think of an easier way for those are not technically adept and want to avoid wires or having the lighter outlet taken. My drives are usually short and I could take the camera indoors when extreme cold conditions hit. For me I would need help to hardwire it in the car.
I understand your situation. Not everyone has the knowledge to hardwire install a dash cam. If you don't need parking mode recordings, then there may be another option for you. I recently reviewed a power adapter called the FitDVR that plugs in between any mirror power cable or rain sensor module power cables at the front windshield. It's pretty much plug and play but your vehicle would need to have the powered rear-view mirror or rain sensor module. If interested, check out our review of it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uqYvKz6xnbs.html Their website will have info on supported vehicles.
Im gonna have to try this tonight. For the top you can actually caramelize sugar in a pan similar to how you make a tanghulu. Pour the sugar on top of the cooled creme and let it solidify. There are others online who have demonstrated this trick as well.
This begs the question, why Zippo themselves hasnt marketed some sort of airtight container tailor made to fit the hand warmer, as both an off switch and to keep fluid from evaporation. Im sure more people would buy them if that was the case
Thanks a lot. One of our bedroom doors got locked from inside and the tim hortons cup method worked for us. You're a saviour! ❤❤ Only suggestion is to keep jiggling your door while inserting the plastic and it should be quick. Took almost 40 min to figure this out. Hope this helps others. Thanks again!!!

I tried installing this on my BMW i4 to power my 3-channel dashcam, however it only held power for 20mins then the dash cam turns off. I had to unplug and plug the usb C to get the power back. Also, if I use the car’s 12V outlet as the power source I encounter such no problems. Do you have any idea why this is happening?
Aside from checking with FitDVR support, here are some questions I have and points to consider: 1) Does the FitDVR turn off after 20 minutes too or is it only the dash cam? 2) Is it always 20 minutes that the dash cam turns off or it's random? 3) What brand and model dash cam are you using? 4) Are you using the supplied USB cable or your own? If using your own you have to make sure it is a Power only cable and not a data cable. I found that for one of my dash cams, when I used a data cable it powered up the dash cam but the dash cam went into data mode like when connected to a computer. If this was the case, maybe it went into sleep mode after 20 minutes. 5) You might have a defective FitDVR. Maybe FitDVR support has reports of the issue you are experiencing so contacting them about it could help resolve your issue faster.
Thanks for replying. 1) FitDVR stays on, only the dash cam turns off and on. 2) I noticed when I start driving the dash cam stays on for like 20-25mins, then turns off by itself. I have to unplug the USB C connector to activate it again, but sometimes it turns back on and off again. 3) I have the WOLFBOX i07 3-channel dash cam 4) Yes I used the cable connector (USB to USB-C that came with the FitDVR. 5) I actually returned the first FitDVR and received a new one. Still doing the same thing. But when I plug the dashcam straight to the 12V outlet it stays on the entire time.
The only other things I can think of at this time are: 1) is the dash cam drawing too much from the FitDVR? What is the current usage? 2) Is the FitDVR overheating? Did you install it on the windshield where it gets direct sunlight? If it overheats, maybe it cuts out.
the fit dvr looks to be serving as a power hub tapped into a car's rain sensor module. however it does appear bulky or clunky from where it is being placed. a smaller, inline cable would make sense with some sort of splitter for the various devices you want to connect to it. but in the long run, it is not for many who need parking mode or other recording when the vehicle is off. this leads people to end up using a dash cam battery, preferably lifepo4 (lithium ion phosphate), which are expensive but lets you charge it when the car is running.
Yes, the FitDVR is a power hub as you mentioned. It is a bit bulky but not that bad considering it has the LCD readout. I suppose if you don't need a readout or want something smaller, a inline cable may suffice. Not sure if anyone makes one with 12V and 5V outputs, though I have seen ones with USB. I guess if you only need one, then getting the appropriate 12V or 5V cable would be good enough. People will always have to get what suits their situation the best. If people want parking mode, you don't necessarily need a dash cam battery. They could also hardwire their dash cam to their vehicles too. The car battery can run a dash cam and the hardwire kit will protect the battery from full discharge. If longer parking mode recording function is required, only then consider the dash cam battery.
Every microwave is different and other variables will affect the time to microwave. For example, how big the water bowl you use and how many creme brulees you make. That's why I can't give an exact time. Please watch the full video and read the recipe on our website for more on this.
I have a rossom wallet that is a ridge knock off. Its good. The plates are rounded on the inside like the ridge, which is important. It came with a choice of strap or money clip. You have nailed the downsides. I live outside the US. I only use this wallet in the US, as I don't use much cash there. I have been using a knock off box wallet with a trigger the last 8 months. I like it a lot. Solves a lot of the ridge issues. It has an elastic pocket that sticks to the front. It is as easy to put cash or receipts in it as the ridge. $5 or so on temu. Also it is a vertical instead of horizontal wallet. That may also have some advantages when it comes to fanning the cards.
Thanks for commenting and sharing your experience. I've also tried the Aviator wallet and like that better than the Ridge. It is also vertical and does work much better.
i used some aluminin foil and with my keys in the car the car could not sense the keys. i also turn off all blue tooth functions in my car, and pull certain fuses to discontinue any data sharing
It's one of our favorite desserts. I can quickly make just one if I have a craving or make two or more to share. Please like and share the video with anyone you think would enjoy it. We want more people to be able to enjoy this yummy treat too.
It's ok because it is only Full HD. But because it is a reputable brand the quality for full HD isn't that bad. The rear was not quite as good as the front camera though. Front camera also captures in 60 fps. There is some video footage you can see in the review for each of the cameras.
Are you talking about the black anodized metal parts of the keychain? If so, I don't think any company can make black anodized metal parts not wear over time. It's just the nature of anything plated. With contact it will wear out and the sharper/harder edged the other objects in contact with it, the faster it will wear. Maybe they should have had plain non-plated metal options so that this can't happen.
@@FrakkingCreations yes thats what i mean. if i spent that much money on something i dont expect scratches period. if its just the nature of the material maybe they shouldnt sell it.
Can you use a fuse tap on a empty slot? My fuse box in the cab doesn’t have many options and the ones there are aren’t rated high enough for the tap fuse I was [20A] so need a [25A] or higher.
I do use empty ones when available since they won't affect existing systems. Not sure about your vehicle. I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean that the fuse slot you want to use is currently 20A and you want to add something that needs 5A? Check out our full hardwiring video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q2E4e6qX68U.html I go over more of how I hardwire.
Hey, thank you for the video! Btw, FobBlocker is an alternative which doesn't need to be put into a pouch each time. It instead shuts off the key fob battery after being motionless, and wakes up the fob when you're on the go. This makes it impossible to steal the signals while the key fob is resting (ie like at night).
Would it be able to protect you when you are out and about walking around? For example at a mall and someone follows behind you to perform a relay attack.
Hey so someone following behind you would still be able to pick up the signals, since the fob is moving around. But keep in mind that your key fob would have to be within range of the car for it to be vulnerable. When the car looks for the fob, the fob responds in either 315 or 433Mhz back to the car, just like a remote control signal. But usually these thefts happen at night, when you least expect it. So if your fob is resting, it won't transmit with FobBlocker.
@@FrakkingCreations FobBlocker would not protect in that video/situation since the person standing is constantly moving around, so the key fob wouldn't shut off.
The biggest disadvantage I see in this kind of wallets is that they scratch and deteriorate your cards if you pull them out very often. My transport card got my face's picture blurred.
I can't say for sure since I don't have Android auto. But I do believe it will work since Android auto and Hudway drive both use Bluetooth and Bluetooth can support multiple connections. I did a quick test of using a Bluetooth speaker playing some music while driving with the Hudway drive using the OBD 2 features and it works (same as without playing music through the Bluetooth speakers).
You're welcome. Glad it was useful. Note that since our video was released they have updated the app and it looks different than in the video. Please like and share our videos to help our channel grow. Thank you for your support! Enjoy your Chargie!
Good on you for buying things based only on your needs. People should always consider the quality, brand and price point before buying something. Everyone will have different needs and priorities.
I haven't tried on an iOS phone but on the OBDLink website it mentions that the MX+ supports many iOS apps. So I believe it should work with Track Addict. If you want to be sure it might be best to contact the OBDLink support team or Track Addict support team
@@FrakkingCreations Thanks. Reason is because I was notified not all OBD adapters can connect bluetooth to iPhones. Only specific bluetooth like BLE / 4.0, and not those Bluetooth 1.x, 2.x and 3.x ones . I’ll write to OBDlink for further enquire , thanks!
Oh one other thing. Because OBDLink has an iOS app that works with the MX+, I'm inclined to think that it will work if it's only a BT issue that you are concerned about. Please post back once you find out. Would be good info to know.
Well, it's easier said than done. Not everyone has the luxury to move to a different city. And saying this is similar to saying don't go anywhere unsafe even if you need to get groceries from there, or don't own anything nice because someone will steal it from you, don't live in a nice place, etc...
@@FrakkingCreations I used to live in a small town in Pennsylvania and we didn't even lock our doors at night. So, yes moving to another place can prevent license plate theft
Nice Kit, I have mine with me everywhere I go and people make fun of me until they need something. The other things that I also carry: impact wrench (makes changing a tire very easy), siphon pump , lithium battery jumper with power bank capability, emergency battery flashers, breaker bar, swiss army knife, glue sticks with lighter, fuse kit, throw up bags, pee bags, precision screwdriver kit, headlight flashlight (when working on a car at night), basic multimeter, and for food, I carry MRE that has the heating bag with it. That's all I can remember now and I'm sure I have more .. lol.
Yeah having the possibility that anyone can turn on the speaker makes this gadget useless if you use it to track backpacks or luggage that could be stolen. Another case where you want to have the speaker disabled is if you use the tracker on your pet (especially cats). I don't want that me or someone else turns the sound on by mistake, they are very loud and the pet would be scared to hell
That's why I disabled the speakers in ours. It's too bad Google's Find My Network is too restrictive at this time, causing the Chipolos to not work as well as the AirTags.
It isn't the biggest list. The extended features actually doesn't support the vehicles we own. I do wish they keep updating it for more vehicles, though. I could imagine that these manufacturers all want a lot of money for access to their IP or just don't want to allow it.
Thanks for commenting. Please like and share our videos with anyone else that would find them useful. We appreciate your help in supporting the channel!
Can you pls explain to me why there is no voltage drop when using a cat5 cable for long lengths as opposed to plugging a USB poiwer block into an extension cord ?
There should be a voltage drop. At this short distance it may not be noticeable enough. If you can run an AC extension cord easily then it is probably better. This hack may put more strain on the adapter but I'm not 100% sure.
I really like their key case and still use it. Though as for the wallet I am now using the Aviator wallet. I find it nicer to use. The one thing Ridge has that Aviator doesn't is the larger selection of nice cover plates.
Best with a cream. Milk will be too thin and not as tasty... You really do need the fat for it to taste good. You might be able to get away with homogenized milk (3.25% fat, I think) but I don't think it will be the best taste and it will be more liquid. Hope that helps.
When reinstalling the new actuator it would have been wise to tie a sturdy cord onto the manual over-ride lever and feed it into the trunk by a strategic path, then tie it to a small plastic handle that emerges from a hole in the trunk liner. Better yet, feed this manual over-ride cord through a cable housing from the actuator to the hole in the trunk lining so that the cord doesn't get frayed and break.
