I dove there 1994 I remember trying to get the timing right as the waves filled and emptied the opening It wasn't a place many people dove back then Did You ever dive the Suicide Boat area? Large stone steps into the water and open top cave like corridors to the surface The openings were to small to go up to the surface through
@@scubajim5975 I was just making a general observation, of how sad it is. the Decline of those reefs is so noticeable to me, and I haven't been there in almost 30 years. It used to be a rainbow of color everywhere you looked with fish and plants occupying every niche.
Horrible! Don’t support this kind of dive that put the whale inside a net cage! Are you happy now that you got to see them? But are they happy trapped inside there?! Don’t support this! Boycott and report!
We used Chuck from North of Nago both times that I went to the Emmons. Great guy at a very reasonable rate. You can get in touch by looking up North of Nago on facebook.
Next dive on my list. What was your actual bottom time? I usually dive with a steel 60 and 30. With 3440 each. Do you think they will do it? And what camera did you use? Thank you
Hi pampigwo. On my first trip to the Emmons, I used a steel 80cu tank and my total bottom time was 28 mins- that includes the decent and deco stops on the way up (we went past our NDL by a min or two). I went down with about 3500 PSI and had about 1000 left at the end. On my second trip to the Emmons, I used an aluminum 80cu tank and my bottom time was coincidentally also 28 mins. We stayed within our NDL. I went down with about 3000 PSI and had about 1100 left at the end. I think the reason why I came up with more air on my second trip was because of the one or two extra minutes I spent at depth on the first trip. I think that a steel 60 would probably be enough if you plan to stay within your no decompression limits, but I've never used one and it's your call. It was nice having an air safety buffer considering the depth. Have fun at the Emmons and thanks for watching!
Cool video, My Friend just went to Mermaids Grotto yesterday. I really want to go even more now that I have seen what is there. When I was learning to dive, my Padi Instructor told us about how cool the Toilet bowl was and how we should go. Your Videos look amazing.
Wow! That's pretty good. I think I tend to go through a tank too fast though, particularly at that depth. My deepest was about 86 ft. (26m or so) on a 12l (roughly an 80) and was pretty close to the reserve (maybe a bit below) by the time we came up. Thanks for sharing these!!
