Excellent presentation. I've been with luminair since it's first appearance a decade ago but I think you've made a persuasive case for Blackout, particularly with the granular detail that the UI offers. Many thanks
Regarding wireless connectivity is done through wifi It is the only reliable and robust way to use the iPad Then I use CRMX by LumenRadio as my wireless dmx signal Remember, this is a wireless system with both Wi-Fi network, and also a wireless DMX network
Love the video. I do have a question, is it possible to rearrange the lights after they have been added? I use Outsight Creamsource Vortex 4's and 8's and also Astera Pixel Bricks. After I initially add the lights I will occasionally need to add another Pixel Brick or Vortex light. The added light is added in line to the right of the other lights, but is it possible to rearrange it so that the added Pixel Brick is in line with the other Pixel Brick or added Vortex in line with the other Vortex?
yes you can ! with the left sidebar out look at the top of the screen you will see 3 dots in a circle - tap on that and select "edit items" - Now you will see your lights are listed and to the right you will see 3 little horizontal bars - hold you finger on one and you can slide any light up or down - rearranging their order. Hello partner I hope you are well I have a question regarding your video which is if there is a crmx application for Android available with ratpac? I follow You from Colombia 😇🙏🏾
Hello, good morning, I follow you from Colombia, excellent contribution, but I have a question, to use the app with Luminair, is a dmx or crmx node required? Or can it be connected to the light directly via Wi-Fi? I am in the process of becoming a lights programmer, I thank you very much, good job brother
@@LosDeLaBomba yes a dmx node is always needed - an iPad runs luminair which makes dmx but then you still need to take the signal and convert to dmx then send it wirelessly
We have an extremely basic lighting config with only single channel DMX control on each fixture. We are trying to create a simple chase to be in a scene. Each fixture only has dimmer 0-100 fader control. How do we make scenes with chases?
Hi Pascal - Hmmm - wondering why not save them - seems like saving them automatically is a good idea. But - in luminair you can stay in just one scene and never save to a new scene - just keep tweeting your faders - save if you want - so I guess I would say that the App for Mac iPad is luminair to do that - also Blackout Next. Not sure on the PC side though.
Brand brand new to this tech. I can barely spell DMX, so bear with me. I test-driving a pair of Rainbow lights. What I don't know is how these need to be configured before working on the Luminaire side of things. Said differently, what steps are needed on the Rainbow side to ensure they and the Luminaire app are connected? Is there the equivalent of some kind of pairing, or are the Rainbow's just natively ready out of the box, and all that's needed is to turn them on? Hoping I will see a reply to this since it's now 2 years later; Andy's videos look extremely helpful, but presume a starting point that I may not yet be at. Thanks to all!
Jerry - so sorry I overlooked this - yes ythere is a pairing that needs to happen - and the way Lumenradio works is that if you unpair a light, then use the link button on your transmitter you will get linked up. Think of it as if any light that is unlink needs to find home - and the link button on your transmitter sends a signal of where home is. May take a minute but you should see a visual indicated linkage. Its the reason that Lumenradio with CRMX has done so well in the production community.
If the Light Mode have Chase effect, can add it directly, First need ask your Lighting supplier to get the Data, Mainly the mode of Chase. All of our film light, Stage light, and Tube light have chase Effect. also have other More effects preset.
I have been using this app for a few years now in our band its been very good for me easy to set up and use the only down side from day one was the lack of helpful videos and had to find my way through it myself your videos are very good looking forward to seeing more in case I missed anything thanks Stewart UK
thanks Stewart - there is a new batch coming - mainly on Luminair 4 intro stuff but also on blackout - anyways - got any tips for me ? what is your favorite part of the App ?
Hi Josue - pretty sure I understand the question - and the answer is yes cause only the App is controlling the lights - the Controller would be the dmx node - does that makes sense ?
yes !!! Linking is scene dependent - but when you make a copy of the scene that linked those lights will be linked - so just make a scene without the linking and you will be fine
well yes - many ways - I also like having separate RGB faders too - but luminair populates the screen in the different profiles the way it does - so I hunt the different protocols until I find one I like. Also you can make your own fixture profile sooooo easy - give it a try and let me know if it works.
Then your intensity is just the up/down of the fader? Would you want to make the circle on the left a white as well? Also, I take it you need to change the white point on the fixture if you want to warm or cool the light? And it seems like you lose your ability to add grn or magenta. To this point I’ve been using these lights in Studio mode, which is great for local control, but haven’t found a good Luminair protocol, so this is intriguing!
Hi Andy, Love this channel! Thank you taking the time. Numbering the episodes in the titles would be great. I would be interested to know how you deal with Skypanels, ETC LED RGB ellipsoidals, and Asteras. Recently, I had an issue where I had difficulty getting fine control of an S30... I would see colors opposite to the ones I was tapping on the wheel and then the unit would just start to flash. It drove me crazy to where I had to trash my whole set up and start over. I also need to go back and see if it was as simple as setting the DMX number with click and type vs using the +\- !
