That was so beautiful for me to learn. I'm a drummer wannabe.. i can play the drums well (obviously not; all by ear 😂) but the fills i never had broken down till this video. Thank you for making it! Cheers!
Hi Jared, beautiful job on this cover. You sound great and did a very nice job explaining the sections. I have this on my list of tunes to cover down the road. Do you have a transcription of this. I can write it out but it's a lot of work to do. Bravo man!
I have the prologix - american made but you kinda pissed me off because I like the grey insert but I didnt get one of those. Not sure why as it was purchased new. I think I am going to try a reflex pad though. Possibly the zildjian one?
That fill is commonly used today by punk rock drummers,..sure Stewart's innovative idea influenced young drummers. I adopted that fill and use mostly in my playing on fast tempo.
How can you give a detail drum lesson without the correct drum set. Kind like a guitar lesson with missing guitar strings SMH. My drum set had 6 toms. Steve had 5 I believe. You have 3..
Saw Steve Smith several times doing Drum clinics in the early 80s when he was still with Journey. I asked him about the creative process for coming up with these unique drum parts . He said the band had a soundproof rehearsal space and Oakland. They would meet at 4 PM and rehearse till midnight. The guys would leave a tape of the rehearsal for him. He would stay afterwards by himself to create these great drum parts. 👍
RU-vid brought me here through a recommendation... and I am happy for that!! Your analysis of this extraordinary piece is very clear and on point and your channel is amazing! Certainly I am not a drum player; I just admire Gino Vannelli and, automatically, admire anyone who likes Gino's music 🙂 . He is The Master of Music. And yes, Mark Craney (RIP) was a superb drummer. Gino always has selected his drummers very carefully, he being originally a drum player. In his early albums he had Graham Lear, who is also a proficient drummer. Congratulations for your channel and for this video!! 👋👋👋
